Chapter 370 Paternity Test

Wei Yumeng wrestled with her emotions. Initially, she felt that even if Zhan Mohan had wavered between her and Jiang Siyu and ultimately chosen her, she wouldn't have accepted.

She believed that a man who juggled two women, regardless of who he ended up with, was unfair to both.

To love someone meant to be steadfast; any hint of wavering wasn't true love.

However, the thought of those photos brought a sharp sting to her eyes, and she forcefully suppressed the urge welling up inside her.

"Forget it, there's no need. It's truly not easy for two people to be together, but even those who overcome all odds and end up together will eventually separate due to various reasons. Ultimately, it's because they didn't love enough. This matter is pointless to discuss," Wei Yumeng said after a moment of silence, looking at Mu Linjing with a complex expression.

Mu Linjing, who had a lot to say, found herself unable to utter a word. She genuinely felt sad for Wei Yumeng's current state.

They had so many opportunities to clear the air, yet through a series of unfortunate circumstances, they had hurt each other.

It could only be said that those involved were blind, while bystanders could see clearly.

A while later, Wei Yumeng called Yang Tao, her voice solemn as she said, "Taotao, Zhan Mohan has already met with Xin Ran. He'll likely make a move," she warned. "You must be prepared on your end."

Hearing that Zhan Mohan had met Xin Ran, Yang Tao's brow furrowed fiercely. She immediately replied, "Yumeng, don't worry." Yang Tao paused and then asked, "Yumeng, have you truly made up your mind?"

Wei Yumeng had heard such questions too many times and could only patiently reply, "Don't worry, Taotao, I've made up my mind. I'm doing this to finally make things clear. If it doesn't work out, then there's nothing I can do."

"But, your approach is truly too extreme. Do you really need to use such a method to prove his feelings for you?" Yang Tao finally voiced her thoughts.

"Taotao, just trust me!" Wei Yumeng's decision was made, and she didn't wish to explain further.

On the other side, Yang Tao looked at the now-disconnected interface with a complex expression. Why was it so difficult for two people in love to stay together?

Zhan Mohan leaned back in the car, eyes closed, massaging his temples with his hand.

Fang Xun, driving ahead, observed his boss, who had been mentally exhausted lately. The Zhan Mohan of the past was different; no matter what happened, he rarely showed such fatigue. Whenever it involved his wife, Zhan Mohan transformed, becoming unlike his former self.

Fang Xun saw it all but could do nothing. He braced himself and said, "Zhan Mo, the hospital arrangements are all made. We just need Madam to go over."

Zhan Mohan opened his eyes and reached for his phone.

"Hello, Yumeng, it's me. Do you have time?" Zhan Mohan's voice trembled slightly, a rarity.

"Yes, why, do you want to check on the child in my belly now?" Wei Yumeng detected the slight tremor in Zhan Mohan's voice, but she had to suppress her own emotions. She knew this was the moment to resolve the issues between her and Zhan Mohan! She had to endure.

"Yumeng, let's talk when we meet. I'll come to pick you up, and we'll go to the hospital together." Zhan Mohan's tone was almost pleading.

Despite her hardened heart, Wei Yumeng eventually softened and agreed.

After hanging up Zhan Mohan's call, she dialed another number.

"Yumeng, is the time ripe?" Chu Zian's gloating voice sounded.

"Yes, so you need to be ready," Wei Yumeng said and hung up.

Soon after, Zhan Mohan arrived. Their eyes met, a myriad of thoughts passing between them, yet neither could bring themselves to speak.

However, as Wei Yumeng got into the car, Zhan Mohan opened the door for her and gently supported her.

Even though he didn't know whose child it was, Wei Yumeng absolutely could not be harmed. Not the slightest mistake was permissible.

They sat in the car, saying nothing.

Fang Xun glanced at his boss and Madam in the rearview mirror. He felt anxious for them both. They could have easily spoken things through, but instead, they chose to make each other suffer.

Finally, they arrived at the hospital.

Outside the obstetrics and gynecology ward, after a long silence, Wei Yumeng spoke sarcastically, "Zhan Mohan, I'm here now. Don't you believe me? This child is not yours."

"I don't believe it," Zhan Mohan said, gazing steadily into Wei Yumeng's eyes.

Wei Yumeng said nothing and walked inside.

Zhan Mohan waited outside, his torment growing. He truly didn't know what this meant. He only knew that he cared about Wei Yumeng's physical condition, but he also feared that if the child was indeed Xin Ran's, Wei Yumeng might leave him because of it.

After a long while, Wei Yumeng emerged, her face visibly pale.

Zhan Mohan quickly helped her to a nearby seat. Wei Yumeng didn't push away his hand. Truthfully, she was also uncertain. She feared Zhan Mohan only cared about the child, and she wondered how many more times such support would be offered.

The doctor emerged at that moment and said, "The results will be out in two hours."

Zhan Mohan softly asked Wei Yumeng, "Would you like to rest on the hospital bed?"

Wei Yumeng replied, "No, I'll just wait like this."

The two fell silent again. This waiting period was torture for both of them.

Time ticked by. Zhan Mohan even began to think that perhaps Yumeng was just being temperamental. The child was his, and Yumeng was still angry about the previous incident.

Finally, the time came. Fang Xun went to retrieve the results.

Upon seeing the results, Fang Xun's brow furrowed tightly. He didn't know how to deliver the news to Zhan Mohan.

Seeing Fang Xun's reaction, Zhan Mohan snatched the report.

When he saw the words "Paternity relationship is zero," Zhan Mohan's heart sank to the abyss.

Fang Xun only saw Zhan Mohan's expression grow increasingly grim, his hand clenching the paternity test report tightly.

Wei Yumeng took in Zhan Mohan's expression. Her inner thoughts had indeed come true. Zhan Mohan only cared about whether the child was his or not.

Wei Yumeng spoke, "You know the results now. Do you have anything to say?"

After a long pause, Zhan Mohan finally looked up, his eyes dark and deep. He said in a flat tone, "Isn't that what I should be asking you?"

Wei Yumeng's face was expressionless as she said, "Then let's separate. There's no need for this entanglement anymore. It will be a release for both of us."

Zhan Mohan remained silent, his gaze fixed on Wei Yumeng. Her words struck him like a dagger. So, Wei Yumeng wanted to leave him. She felt that leaving him would be a release.

"Since Mr. Zhan has nothing to say, then I'll take that as his agreement to my decision. Mr. Zhan, goodbye." With that, Wei Yumeng turned and left without looking back. The moment she turned away, tears streamed down her face like a broken string of pearls.

Zhan Mohan stood rooted to the spot, watching Wei Yumeng's resolute retreating figure.

Passersby at the hospital looked strangely at the tall, handsome man standing motionless.

Fang Xun witnessed everything. Although he wished for Mr. Zhan and Madam to reconcile, that child, after all, was not Mr. Zhan's.
