Chapter 364 Loving Each Other, Hurting Each Other

"Why aren't you answering your phone!" Zhan Mohan suddenly roared, veins bulging on his forehead.

Fang Xun, startled by Zhan Mohan's voice, shivered and hurried off.

Right now, both sides were in a race, and neither knew who would reach their goal first.

When Fang Xun returned, Zhan Mohan was sitting in the car, exuding an aura that warned everyone to stay away. He had realized by now that whenever Wei Yumeng was involved, President Zhan became unlike himself.

Seeing Fang Xun return, Zhan Mohan's eyes, deep and cold, fixed on him.

"Where is she?"

"At the entrance of Mufeng Coffee Shop. Should we go now?"

"Get in the car!" Zhan Mohan immediately started the engine.

Fang Xun was forced into the passenger seat. He had actually considered telling Zhan Mohan to let him drive, but seeing President Zhan's demeanor today, he decided against it. It was best to say less and do more today.

All the way, Zhan Mohan ran countless red lights, his speed reaching one hundred and forty. Fang Xun gripped the handrail tightly, his face pale.

Fearfully, he said to President Zhan, "President Zhan, could you please slow down a bit?"

He felt like his life was about to end today.

To his surprise, Zhan Mohan didn't even acknowledge him, continuing to accelerate.

Meanwhile, Wei Yumeng was preparing to leave. Mu Linjing asked her,

"Are you really not going back to President Zhan's place today?"

"No."

She still hadn't figured out how to face him, especially since the photos Jiang Siyu had sent were still saved on her phone. Just thinking about it made her feel incredibly disgusted.

Mu Linjing tried to persuade her, "Why don't you give President Zhan a chance? Remember your issue with Xin Ran last time? Although he complained verbally, didn't he compromise because he loved you?"

Mu Linjing's words made Wei Yumeng's heart begin to waver again. She had made up her mind, but now she was starting to falter.

The more she thought about it, the more agitated she became. "Then... then what should I do? Let's just calm down and think about it later."

"Why don't you meet with President Zhan and see if you can clarify things? What if it's just a misunderstanding?"

Mu Linjing was still willing to believe Zhan Mohan. After all, she, as an outsider, had witnessed his previous kindness and tolerance towards Yumeng.

But it was precisely because of this that the people involved were trapped in a fog, while the bystanders could see more clearly.

"I..."

"Alright, you don't need to struggle anymore."

"What?"

Wei Yumeng looked at Mu Linjing blankly, only to realize that the girl's gaze wasn't on her. As she followed her gaze, her expression suddenly changed.

It was Zhan Mohan's car.

Mu Linjing smiled and spread her hands. "What's meant to happen will happen. You can't escape it. I think you two should just explain yourselves clearly."

As long as there were no fundamental issues, nothing was too difficult.

The man in the car also saw Wei Yumeng. His gaze was sharp, his handsome face seemed shrouded in frost, chilling to the bone. His eyes remained fixed on the woman standing not far away, not shifting until he walked towards her.

He stopped in front of her and immediately questioned,

"Why weren't you answering your phone?"

The moment Wei Yumeng saw him, she remembered the photos on her phone, and a surge of anger welled up within her.

"My phone was out of battery."

Zhan Mohan's face darkened. Without a word, he snatched Wei Yumeng's phone.

"Let me see."

His movement was so swift that Wei Yumeng had no time to react before the phone was in his hand.

She frowned tightly. "Zhan Mohan..."

Zhan Mohan glanced at the battery percentage on the screen and let out a mocking laugh.

"Seventy percent battery, Wei Yumeng. Do you think I'm an idiot, or are you trying to make me look like one?"

Her lie exposed, Wei Yumeng was at a loss for words.

She looked up, her gaze somewhat cold.

"Don't you already know why I didn't answer your call? Where did you go last night, and what did you do?"

Zhan Mohan frowned. "You know I went to Jiang Siyu's?"

Wei Yumeng hadn't expected Zhan Mohan to be so honest, admitting it directly without any hesitation or ambiguity.

She didn't know whether to consider it indifference or simply that he no longer cared.

"And then what? After you had your fun last night, President Zhan, are you here now to break things off?"

Zhan Mohan's lips tightened, his features sharp. He exuded an air of wildness that made it daunting to even meet his gaze.

"Wei Yumeng, do you think I'm like you?"

His words were like sharp knives piercing Wei Yumeng's heart. Her pupils trembled, and she looked at Zhan Mohan in disbelief.

"What do you mean?"

Was he implying that she and Xin Ran... and those photos?

Her voice choked, tears welling up in her eyes, but she stubbornly refused to let them fall.

"Zhan Mohan, so you still suspect me and Xin Ran? You've never believed me from the very beginning."

If that was the case, why pretend not to care and face her? If he truly cared, he could have just said it. No matter the outcome, she would have bravely accepted it.

Instead of harboring unspoken grievances, they had to force smiles and stay together, which was also quite difficult.

"Did you ever believe me? Weren't you the same?"

She hadn't called him even once last night. What was she thinking?

Wei Yumeng gave a bitter smile. "Under what pretense should I call you? You said you were going out for a bit. Do I have to monitor your every move?"

She wasn't that clingy. Even if she tossed and turned alone at night, she didn't want to be an annoyance and disturb him. She feared Zhan Mohan would find her bothersome.

The most frightening thing in a relationship was when one person suddenly started to dislike the other, as it signaled the end of the relationship was not far off.

What Zhan Mohan saw was her indifferent attitude, which chilled him to the bone. Even if he didn't show it on his face, his heart was in turmoil.

He was also a man with a temper, and he couldn't unconditionally set aside his pride to appease her. Moreover, her not answering his calls and not inquiring about his whereabouts clearly indicated she didn't care about him at all.

How pathetic was he, Zhan Mohan, to let a woman affect his emotional well-being?

A sharp glint flashed in the man's eyes, and a self-mocking smile touched his lips.

"Do you think I, Zhan Mohan, have to be with you? Do you think no other woman would want to be with me besides you, Wei Yumeng?"

Had she never seen what he was like before? How dare she speak to him so presumptuously?

Hearing this, Wei Yumeng felt as if Zhan Mohan was reminding her to be humble in front of him, to not cry or make a fuss.

When her temper flared, she couldn't hold back anymore. The two of them, facing off, used the harshest words to hurt each other.

"If you want someone like Jiang Siyu who will do anything you say and listen to everything you say, then it just proves we're not compatible. I'm not the type to be obedient either."
