Zhan Mohan actually walked over to the jewelry section of the mall. Wei Yumeng’s feelings at that moment were indescribable; the overwhelming surprise made her mind go blank.
She probably hadn’t expected that getting back together with Zhan Mohan would lead to this outcome. She knew his personality too well – how strong-willed and proud he was. So, she could imagine that him reaching this point now was already incredibly difficult.
This man in front of her could have found someone better, yet he had gone this far for her. She was genuinely moved. Her heart ached, her eyes welled up, and tears began to fall like pearls from a broken string.
Seeing that Wei Yumeng hadn’t approached for a while, Zhan Mohan turned and waved at her.
“Come here.”
Wei Yumeng finally snapped back to reality, raised her hand to wipe away her tears, and walked towards him with a smile.
She affectionately linked her arm through his, her face radiating a happy smile. Her voice was as sweet as cotton candy, almost melting Zhan Mohan’s heart.
“Husband, what are we buying?”
This one word, “husband,” sent waves of emotion through Zhan Mohan, making him feel incredibly happy. He raised his hand and dotingly ruffled her hair.
“I’m going to buy you a ring. I didn’t give you anything when we got married. Hmm… it seems I owe you a bit. Why don’t you pick one?”
A ring was something every woman yearned for, and Wei Yumeng was no exception. This was also the first time Zhan Mohan was formally giving her such a gift after so many years together.
Wei Yumeng naturally didn’t refuse, as it was every woman’s dream, and she was the same.
A sales associate approached them at that moment. She sized them up, recognizing that this man was definitely wealthy. His attire was beyond what mere money could buy; it was high-end, custom-made. Even some rich second-generation heirs with prominent logos couldn’t compare to men like him, who were truly wealthy and of high status, often concealing their wealth rather than flaunting it.
As for the woman beside him, although her looks were striking and elegant, not the kind that would immediately stun but rather the type that grew on you, her features were gentle, possessing the soft femininity of an Eastern woman.
In fact, standing together, they looked quite compatible.
Having seen countless people daily, they could tell at a glance whether customers were truly wealthy.
Zhan Mohan was clearly a big spender. The sales associates immediately swarmed forward, beaming, and enthusiastically asked Zhan Mohan,
“Sir, what would you like to choose? Are you buying a gift for your wife?”
“Show me your most expensive rings.”
The sales associates’ eyes widened at this. They quickly nodded.
“Certainly, we’ll get them for you right away.”
Several of them immediately got busy. Wei Yumeng felt a bit awkward seeing the commotion.
She covered her face and whispered to Zhan Mohan,
“Just pick any one. It’s just a ceremony; there’s no need to buy something too expensive.”
Zhan Mohan, however, stroked the back of her hand, his warm fingertips gently caressing it.
“It’s alright. There’s a condition for buying something so expensive.”
The sales associates, who were busy fetching the rings, were taken aback. What did he mean? Did he have conditions? Was she not his wife, but a mistress?
But looking at the lady’s belly, she seemed pregnant. Well, the world of the wealthy was indeed complicated and beyond their comprehension.
Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Mohan with a blank expression, “What do you mean?”
Seeing her anxious and slightly confused look, Zhan Mohan found her incredibly cute and couldn’t help but let out a low, husky laugh.
“What do you think I’m going to do? Ask you to abort the baby?”
Wei Yumeng shook her head. “Not exactly, I was just curious.”
After all, she had nothing. What kind of condition could Zhan Mohan possibly have for her?
The man put his arm around her shoulders, unfazed by the public gaze, and pulled her into his embrace. His deep voice vibrated through his chest and into Wei Yumeng’s ears, striking her heart like a drum.
Zhan Mohan said,
“Once I buy this ring, I want you to belong to me alone for the rest of your life. You will be Zhan Mohan’s wife and only his wife. No matter what happens in the future, you are not allowed to fall for anyone else. Do you understand what I mean?”
His wife was to be loyal to Zhan Mohan alone for life. It didn’t matter if someone pursued her in the future, or if she herself changed her mind; it was absolutely forbidden.
Seeing Wei Yumeng’s bewildered expression, he chuckled in a low voice.
“What’s wrong? Confused? Scared?”
Wei Yumeng nodded. “A little confused.”
“Then let me put it more plainly. In my marriage, there is only widowhood, not divorce.”
Only then did Wei Yumeng understand, and she suddenly smiled.
“You should have said that earlier. I thought you were going to ask for something…”
Zhan Mohan’s lips curved upward slightly. He leaned closer, his scorching breath fanning her face, making her cheeks flush and her heart race.
“I thought… I thought you were going to ask for something difficult, something I wouldn’t be able to achieve.”
After all, there was only so much she could do. It wasn't that she was unwilling, but she feared not meeting Zhan Mohan's expectations.
Zhan Mohan looked at her with the gentlest tone and the most passionate gaze.
“Don’t worry. With me, there are no high standards for you. I just genuinely want you to be happy.”
What he was doing was out of his own willingness, unrelated to Wei Yumeng. He didn’t want her to carry any psychological burden.
It was precisely because of this that Wei Yumeng felt even more burdened. She felt that the love Zhan Mohan was giving her was too immense, making her feel as though she couldn't do anything to betray him, lest she be unrighteous.
However, her affair with Xin Ran seemed to have truly hurt this man, even though she didn't want this outcome.
She didn’t immediately agree. Instead, she held his slender fingers, looked at him very seriously and devoutly, her voice slightly choked with emotion.
“Ahan, I… I don’t know what to say to you. Although I have a thousand words I want to tell you, but…”
As she spoke, tears began to stream down uncontrollably, even beyond her own control.
Zhan Mohan raised his finger and wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, still as gentle and meticulous as ever.
“Alright, my silly girl. Look around, so many people are watching us. I can’t guarantee there are no paparazzi here. If we get photographed, you’ll be on the front page tomorrow.”
Hearing the word “paparazzi,” Wei Yumeng was startled and immediately stopped crying. She quickly raised her hand to wipe away her tears.
“Okay, I won’t cry. I won’t cry.”
It was just that her emotions had gotten the better of her, and she couldn’t quite control herself.
The onlookers and sales associates surrounding them were looking at the couple with envious and jealous eyes.
“My goodness, how can this man be so gentle? Where can one find such a handsome, wealthy, and outstanding man?”
“I dream of finding such a handsome man. I’m so envious of this girl. She must have saved the Milky Way in her past life.”
Zhan Mohan hugged her and softly coaxed her,
“Don’t cry. Hurry up and choose. Look at how everyone around you is looking at you as if they want to strangle you.”
