Chapter 380 His Tenderness Will Be Mine From Now On

Wei Yumeng felt a sliver of secret joy at his disagreement, wondering if it meant she still held some weight in his heart.

Her own heart was in turmoil. On one hand, she didn't want to part ways with Zhan Mohan like this. On the other, she couldn't overcome her inner struggles. This relationship had once brought her sweetness, but it had also shown her the depths of pain and torment.

Especially whenever Jiang Siyu appeared before her, she would easily fall into a spiral of overthinking. That night Zhan Mohan had not returned home, she had spent the entire night wrestling with indecision and self-doubt. The fear and unease had entwined her like vines throughout the night.

No one would know that night had been a nightmare for her; even now, the feeling remained vivid.

She could also understand how Zhan Mohan must have felt tormented when he thought she had something going on with Xin Ran. It was a miracle he had persevered for so long.

At this moment, she had calmed down completely and could see things from Zhan Mohan's perspective. However, the problems between them had existed for more than a day or two, and solving them all at once seemed impossible.

Most importantly, they were now divorced, no longer husband and wife. Anything more said would be meaningless.

Perhaps this was fate.

Her attitude was firm: "Mr. Zhan, I've been at the company for three years. My resignation now is my personal wish, and I don't need to pay any penalty."

Zhan Mohan let out a sarcastic laugh, lowering his head. "Wei Yumeng, you've really researched all these procedures to resign. You planned this long ago, didn't you?"

To leave him, she had gone to such lengths. To ensure she had not the slightest presence in his life, she truly hated him that much.

Wei Yumeng found his question ironic, thinking of the divorce certificate.

He, the man who had personally delivered their divorce certificate to her doorstep, was now questioning her with such righteous indignation about planning ahead.

She sneered lightly. "Didn't you plan it long ago, Mr. Zhan?"

He had planned how to end their relationship, how to divorce her and rekindle his old flame with Jiang Siyu, living happily ever after.

And she was to be a mere passerby in his life, summarily dismissed.

Zhan Mohan listened, utterly bewildered. Just as he was about to speak, there was a knock on the office door.

"Ahan..."

Wei Yumeng clearly heard Jiang Siyu's voice.

A hint of disappointment flickered in her eyes, and her voice turned indifferent.

"Mr. Zhan, please sign here. I don't want to disturb your work."

Seeing her resolute attitude, coupled with her demeanor, Zhan Mohan, in a fit of anger, scrawled his signature on the document.

Instead of feeling any joy, Wei Yumeng felt an overwhelming sense of sadness. It was as if they had truly ended. Before, if she had continued to work at Zhan Corporation after the divorce, she would still have had opportunities to see him. But now, even that last means of contact was severed.

From now on, they would truly be strangers.

"Then, Mr. Zhan, I'll be leaving now."

After saying this, Wei Yumeng turned and walked towards the door. Jiang Siyu, waiting outside, had grown impatient and was just about to reach for the doorknob to enter when the door opened.

The two met eyes. Wei Yumeng's expression was calm, but the emotions hidden in her eyes were turbulent. Upon seeing Wei Yumeng, Jiang Siyu's eyes flashed with hostility.

Yet, on the surface, she maintained a composed demeanor, even greeting her warmly.

"Miss Wei, what a coincidence, you're here too."

Wei Yumeng had no intention of engaging in such insincere pleasantries with Jiang Siyu.

Seeing Wei Yumeng remain silent, Jiang Siyu smiled and said, "Then I'll go in to find Ahan now."

Jiang Siyu walked in with a sway of her hips, and as she passed Wei Yumeng, she couldn't resist giving her a provocative glance.

"Miss Wei, I heard you and Ahan are divorced. You even have the divorce certificate, right? I told you long ago that you two were not suited for each other. Even if you forced yourselves together back then, it wouldn't have ended well."

Wei Yumeng had no desire to argue with her, but Jiang Siyu insisted on stabbing her in the heart. If she didn't give Jiang Siyu a piece of her mind, it would feel like a disservice to herself.

She cast a disdainful glance at Jiang Siyu, her voice low enough that only they could hear.

"So what? Don't forget, I'm carrying Zhan Mohan's child. That makes me the rightful one. Even if you marry into the Zhan family, can you guarantee that Zhan Mohan's feelings for you will ever surpass his feelings for his child? Miss Jiang, you overestimate yourself."

Jiang Siyu's triumphant expression crumbled instantly. She glared sharply at Wei Yumeng and said defiantly, "So what? In the future, I will be the one lying beside him every day. I will be the one he holds every night. All his tenderness and affection will no longer belong to you. Doesn't that make your heart ache?"

Indeed, the mere thought of it made Wei Yumeng's heart ache as if it were being torn apart. But some things were beyond her control; what was meant to happen, would happen.

The only solace she had now was that she was carrying Zhan Mohan's child, their connection, the crystallization of their love.

Zhan Mohan, seeing Jiang Siyu standing at the door without coming in, called out softly, "Siyu, what is it?"

The address "Siyu" instantly lifted Jiang Siyu's spirits. A triumphant smile bloomed on her face, and she replied cheerfully, "Coming, Ahan."

With that, she turned and closed the office door, shutting them both out completely.

Wei Yumeng stared at the closed door, her mood sinking. She couldn't quite articulate how she felt, but it was deeply uncomfortable, especially after Jiang Siyu's words, which had almost made her lose control.

It was true, when rivals meet, their eyes blaze. She had actually felt the urge to fight Jiang Siyu just now, mainly because her words were so infuriating.

But what right did she have now? She used to be Zhan Mohan's wife, but now? She was nothing.

She descended to her floor and returned to her desk to pack her belongings. Mu Linjing saw that her mood seemed even worse than before and quickly walked over.

"Yumeng, how did it go? Did Mr. Zhan agree to your resignation?"

This was somewhat unexpected. She remembered Yumeng had mentioned resigning once before, but Mr. Zhan hadn't agreed. Why was he so agreeable this time?

Were these two really going to let each other slip away?

Despite her unhappiness, Wei Yumeng couldn't voice it to Mu Linjing. She had chosen this path herself, and she had chosen to resign. Regretting it now would be laughable.

She could only force a smile for Mu Linjing.

"I'm fine, Linjing. Go back to your work. I don't have much to pack. I'll be done soon and then I'll leave."

"How can that be? You're pregnant now. What if something happens on the way?"

"I'm really fine. I'm an adult, after all. Don't I have the ability to handle this? Don't worry. Go on, finish your work. Director Feng will say something if he sees you dawdling."

Wei Yumeng patted Mu Linjing's shoulder, pretending to be completely unfazed, and then left the company with her belongings.
