Chapter 430 The Old Man's Change of Heart

A few people were stunned, not expecting Cen Yuan to come over.

He adjusted the thermos in his hand and smiled at them, "The Master sent me to see if Miss Wei had woken up."

Mu Linjing and Zhan Yichen quickly moved aside to let him in. Seeing that Wei Yumeng had indeed woken up, he let out a sigh of relief.

He placed the thermos he brought on the table. "Young Master, this is chicken soup that the Master had someone stew last night. He told me to bring it to you. If Miss Wei is also awake, you two should both take care of yourselves and not overwork."

It was well known that Cen Yuan's words represented Master Zhan's intentions. Seeing this, everyone was somewhat surprised.

Cen Yuan left after delivering the chicken soup. The few people looked at each other, feeling a bit at a loss.

Wei Yumeng reached out and touched the thermos on the table, her voice tinged with uncertainty, "Master Zhan said I can drink it too?"

Her reaction made Zhan Mohan feel both pained and amused. His grandfather had never truly accepted her. To receive such an ambiguous attitude now, beyond the surprise, there was a greater disbelief.

This was his own fault, for not giving her the fairness she deserved, yet she had never blamed him.

So he immediately nodded affirmatively, poured some of the chicken soup from the thermos, and handed it to Wei Yumeng. "Grandpa made this for you to regain your strength. Drink it."

The rich chicken soup entered her mouth, but Wei Yumeng couldn't taste anything. Her mind was filled with thoughts about whether Master Zhan's attitude towards her had changed.

It wasn't that she hadn't considered being accepted by the Zhan family one day, but she had always believed it to be more of a fantasy.

The possibility of a fantasy becoming reality was as slim as winning a five-million-dollar lottery. She truly felt a bit dazed by the surprise.

Of course, as an observer, Zhan Yichen could guess Master Zhan's thoughts better than the two involved parties.

Last night, with the critical illness notice in Zhan Mohan's hand, his loss of control and despair all stemmed from his concern for Wei Yumeng. Master Zhan, having lived through much, would surely understand such emotions.

Perhaps at the brink of life and death, Zhan Mohan's attitude had revealed everything, and thus Master Zhan had begun to accept her.

Of course, these were all future matters. The immediate priority was to confirm whether there was any recording in the brooch. For him, bringing Jiang Siyu to justice was not only to avenge Wei Yumeng but also to stand up for Mu Linjing.

What wrong had she done to suffer such undeserved misfortune?

Wei Yumeng naturally had Zhan Mohan to back her up, but what about Mu Linjing?

If he didn't help her get justice, she would have suffered this ordeal in vain.

He quietly withdrew from the ward with Mu Linjing, raising the brooch in his hand. "How about I take you to see if there's a recording in here now?"

Fortunately, Mu Linjing wasn't seriously injured and was lively enough now, so they went together.

However, in a place they couldn't see, Jiang Siyu sat by the window, repeatedly stabbing the apple on the table with a fruit knife. She imagined it was Wei Yumeng, and each stab was full of force.

Just a little more, just a little more, and Wei Yumeng's child would have been taken out, but someone came to save her.

Jiang Siyu was unwilling. Why should that woman receive all of Ah Han's tenderness and love, and also be pregnant with Ah Han's child?

The more she thought about it, the more she hated, and somewhat out of control, she kept stabbing the apple on the table until it was ruined.

Behind her, a man emerged, pushing a suitcase. He was the doctor who had held the scalpel last night.

"Let's go, someone will find this place soon."

Seeing the apple on the table stabbed into a pulp, he sighed inwardly. "With the Zhan family's means, finding us will be easy."

Jiang Siyu turned her head upon hearing this. "What can they do to me? What did I do?"

She believed she had left no clues. Even when contacting the traffickers, she had used a false identity.

She looked at the man, her face contorted as she curled her lips into a sinister smile. "They have no evidence."

The man nodded silently. That's right, all the evidence would only point to him. Jiang Siyu had always remained detached. Even if they were pushed to a dead end, as long as he insisted he had no connection with Jiang Siyu, she would not be implicated.

Jiang Siyu looked at him. "The only evidence is you."

He understood the hidden meaning and smiled bitterly, shaking his head. "No, no one has evidence against you. Bai Jing will never betray Jiang Siyu."

Even knowing that Jiang Siyu had always only wanted Zhan Mohan.

He himself hadn't expected to go this far for Jiang Siyu, but the facts proved that as long as he had the ability, he would not refuse any of Jiang Siyu's requests.

"Let's go."

He grabbed Jiang Siyu's arm and left. Just as he said, as long as Zhan Mohan wanted to investigate, their hiding place would be exposed soon. Before then, he had to take Jiang Siyu to a safe place.

Jiang Siyu let him pull her, but as they reached the door, she suddenly threw off his arm. "I'm not reconciled. Her child is still there."

In Jiang Siyu's view, Wei Jin was her scapegoat. She didn't need to flee everywhere. Zhan Mohan couldn't possibly kill her for Wei Yumeng, could he?

Just like Wei Yumeng thought, as long as she was alive, she wouldn't let Zhan Mohan live happily with another woman.

Bai Jing didn't understand her stubbornness, only knowing that when they could escape, they must try their best to do so. Otherwise, besides him, no one else would be willing to take the blame for Jiang Siyu.

"What you want to do, we can plan for it later, but you have to come with me now. Otherwise, with Zhan Mohan's methods, he won't let us go."

Jiang Siyu couldn't stand hearing such words, and immediately turned on Wei Jin. "What do you mean? Do you mean Ah Han cares about that woman so much that he won't go easy on me? You mean he's never had me in his heart, right?"

She roared hysterically. In front of others, she would still feign some composure, but in front of Bai Jing, she completely dropped her pretense, revealing her madness in its entirety.

Because she knew that no matter what she was like, Bai Jing would not leave her.

People tend to magnify their flaws infinitely in front of those who care about them the most. Perhaps this is the so-called "being favored makes one fearless."

Seeing her like this, Bai Jing could only comfort himself, telling himself that Jiang Siyu was her most real self in front of him, that he was special.

Although it was self-comfort, after a long time of self-consolation, he would even believe it himself.

"Whether he cares about you or not, shouldn't you be the one who feels it the most?"

He said this, not knowing if he was speaking to Jiang Siyu or to himself.

Jiang Siyu was on the verge of rage when her phone suddenly rang.
