Zhan Mohan of course knew Jiang Siyu was making excuses, but he wouldn't expose her in front of the numerous reporters.
"Reporters, it is indeed embarrassing that something like this has happened, but I still ask for your cooperation in leaving, and to allow Miss Feng to compose herself."
Although the reporters were eager to uncover more insider stories of the wealthy elite, Zhan Mohan had already issued a polite dismissal. Moreover, they couldn't very well linger and watch Feng Shiqing get dressed.
Fortunately, they had gathered enough material. Their original purpose was to attend and cover the wedding, so collecting this information was already a profitable endeavor.
Thus, after Zhan Mohan asked everyone to withdraw, only the Zhan family, along with Feng Shiqing and Jiang Siyu, remained in the room.
Since they were now speaking behind closed doors, the best approach was to be open and honest.
As soon as Feng Shiqing was dressed, she tearfully fell at Zhan Mohan's feet. "Brother Mohan, please help me. Make sure those reporters don't write nonsense after they leave. Otherwise, how will I ever live my life?"
Zhan Mohan let out a cold laugh. He gently helped Wei Yumeng to sit down, then moved his leg that Feng Shiqing was clinging to. "You still know that you won't be able to live your life if this gets out. When you plotted against Yumeng like this, didn't you want her to be unable to live her life?"
At these words, Mu Linjing noticed Wei Yumeng's pale and exhausted complexion. She immediately walked over to her. "Yumeng, why do you look so unwell? What did they do to you?"
Wei Yumeng naturally wouldn't speak of being drugged in front of so many people. She simply shook her head. "Don't worry, I'm fine now."
Zhan Mohan's words had left Feng Shiqing speechless. Her eyes darted back and forth, and she immediately shifted the blame to Jiang Siyu.
"Brother Mohan, this is because Wei Yumeng wronged Sister Siyu first. Sister Siyu was harmed terribly by her, which is why she retaliated like this."
Zhan Mohan didn't immediately question her about what Wei Yumeng had done. Instead, he retorted, "If you hadn't led the way, how could Jiang Siyu have found this place?"
She wanted to absolve herself completely but forgot that she was the one who had guided them. At this point, being evasive was pointless.
Looking at everyone's expressions, Feng Shiqing found herself unable to speak.
It was then that Zhan Mohan asked, "You said just now that Yumeng wronged her first. Then I'd like to ask clearly, how have we, as a couple, wronged her? Was it because we didn't send her back to prison back then, and that's why we wronged her?"
Hearing him say these words now, Jiang Siyu no longer felt heartbroken. She had long expected him to protect Wei Yumeng in every way. She was simply unwilling to accept that a woman like Wei Yumeng, who had one face in front of you and another behind your back, and was as venomous as a snake, could receive such affection and trust from Zhan Mohan.
She slowly walked up to Zhan Mohan, looking up into his eyes. "Ahan, you trust this woman so much, but do you know what she's like behind your back?"
Looking at the ferocity on her face and the hatred in her eyes, Zhan Mohan didn't doubt its genuineness. However, even so, he would still firmly believe in Wei Yumeng.
"Of course, I believe her. She is my wife."
Jiang Siyu merely sneered. "Your wife... Yes, no matter whether I give up on you or not, you will never choose to believe me. But do you know how I got through it? I clearly had no ulterior thoughts about you anymore, yet she was still angry and wouldn't let me go. She pretended to be magnanimous on the surface, but in reality, she did such things to me."
Wei Yumeng couldn't listen any longer. She wasn't worried that Zhan Mohan would believe Jiang Siyu's words, but she herself desperately wanted to know what earth-shattering deed she had supposedly committed in Jiang Siyu's eyes, to warrant such a trap set for her on the afternoon before her wedding.
"Tell me clearly today, what did I do to you?"
Jiang Siyu's gaze, passing over Zhan Mohan, landed on her. "You're still pretending? You know exactly what you did to me, don't you? I suppose my video is still in your hands?"
Wei Yumeng was utterly bewildered by the false accusation. "What video? I don't understand what you're talking about."
By then, Jiang Siyu no longer cared about dignity or appearances. Her dignity had long been lost in prison, lost in that shabby hotel, lost in the opulent halls...
She pointed at Wei Yumeng, recounting all the atrocities she had suffered. As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.
"I told you long ago that I wouldn't compete with you for anything anymore. I just wanted to leave this place and live a new life peacefully somewhere no one knew me. You wouldn't even allow that. If Yichen hadn't rescued me by chance, I don't know how much longer I would have had to endure."
Wei Yumeng had not done those things, so she naturally would not admit to them.
"I know you've now concluded that I was behind it, but I'm telling you, I didn't do it. Someone must have wanted to use both of us. Since I promised to let you go, I wouldn't do such a despicable thing. Believe it or not, that's the truth."
Despite Wei Yumeng's current weakness, her words were firm and resolute. She would not admit to such a grave accusation.
Jiang Siyu, however, was convinced that she was responsible and couldn't hear her words.
Mu Linjing said, "You claim this was done by Yumeng. What evidence do you have? Just because those few thugs mentioned Yumeng, you've come to this conclusion? Couldn't they have been instigated by someone else? You've already died once; how can you compare to Yumeng? Why would she have any reason to do such a thing to you?"
These words silenced Jiang Siyu. She had been struggling to understand why Wei Yumeng, in her current state, would bother to pay any attention to her.
It was only due to hatred and humiliation that she had never carefully analyzed the entire situation. Now that she thought about it, Mu Linjing's question was valid. Besides those men mentioning Mrs. Zhan, what proof did she have that Wei Yumeng had ordered it?
For a moment, she also fell into self-doubt. The room suddenly became quiet, with only Feng Shiqing glancing around with a peculiar expression.
She thought she had successfully diverted everyone's attention to Wei Yumeng and the others, and that no one would notice her.
However, Old Master Zhan, who had been sitting at the back, saw the expressions on everyone's faces.
He knew perfectly well that this matter had nothing to do with Wei Yumeng.
"Shiqing," he suddenly called out, startling Feng Shiqing greatly.
"What is it, Grandpa?"
Old Master Zhan saw her forced composure at a glance and directly exposed her. "Why are you so nervous?"
