Huang Yinghua's face immediately turned flustered upon hearing Zhan Mohan's words.
The more he revealed his weaknesses, the more Zhan Mohan would seize the opportunity to corner him.
He turned to Fang Xun and said, "Issue a public announcement, expose Yinghua Technology's actions, and draft a lawyer's letter demanding compensation from Yinghua Technology for Zhan Yichen."
Fang Xun nodded, "Understood."
"Wait..." Huang Yinghua tried to interject, but seemed to reconsider and stopped himself.
However, Zhan Mohan caught the single word he uttered. "If you had honestly confessed everything, things wouldn't have escalated to this point."
Huang Yinghua clenched his fists, cold sweat beading on his forehead, betraying his inner turmoil.
"I..."
He spoke, then bit his lip, as if an unseen force was preventing him from revealing everything.
Wei Yumeng watched Huang Yinghua's demeanor, puzzled. What reason could possibly make Huang Yinghua willing to bear all the blame himself?
As she pondered, she couldn't help but connect Huang Yinghua with the person she suspected was behind it all.
Yet, no matter how she thought about it, she couldn't fathom any connection between them.
Zhan Mohan cast a cold glance at Huang Yinghua. "I don't have much patience."
Finally, as if making a firm decision, Huang Yinghua raised his head to face Zhan Mohan.
"I have nothing to confess. The situation is exactly as I told you before. This was entirely my plan. If you still believe there's a mastermind behind it, you're simply overthinking it."
Everyone exchanged glances. In fact, Huang Yinghua's earlier reaction had already suggested the matter was far from simple.
But now, Huang Yinghua was willing to sacrifice Yinghua Technology rather than reveal the truth. What leverage did they have against him now?
Zhan Yichen stood up and said to Zhan Mohan, "In that case, brother, proceed with the compensation claim against Yinghua Technology as you said."
Wei Yumeng noticed that Huang Yinghua's body trembled slightly when Zhan Yichen spoke these words, but he quickly regained his composure.
Mu Linjing quietly observed them handle everything, until the police finally escorted Huang Yinghua away.
"I believe the police will uncover the truth tomorrow and make it public. This should clear things up," Wei Yumeng said to Mu Linjing. "You should have a good talk with Yichen when you get back."
Mu Linjing blushed slightly, knowing what Wei Yumeng was referring to.
Zhan Yichen approached Mu Linjing proactively. "Wife, shouldn't we be going home now?"
He extended his hand towards Mu Linjing. She looked at him, smiled, placed her hand in his, and then clasped it tightly.
Zhan Yichen looked at Wei Yumeng and Zhan Mohan. "Brother, sister-in-law, I really need to thank you this time. If it weren't for you, I'd likely still be in a lot of trouble."
Wei Yumeng simply smiled. "Seeing you two get along is all the thanks I need. Besides, as Lin Jing's best friend, I wouldn't want to see something like this happen again."
"Sister-in-law, don't worry. I won't let the same thing happen a second time."
As Zhan Yichen spoke, he glanced at Mu Linjing, who deliberately put on a proud expression and looked away.
"I will handle everything related to this matter. You should rest well these few days," Zhan Mohan said.
"Yes, I understand, brother." Zhan Yichen suddenly thought of something. "By the way, thanks to you and sister-in-law for resolving this. I'm sure Big Brother and Sister-in-law have been worried sick. So, I plan to host a thank-you banquet once we're back, and I hope you'll both attend."
Hearing this reminded Wei Yumeng that this investigation hadn't been solely her doing. Chai Yan Yu and his friends had also helped her significantly. Without them, her investigation might not have gone so smoothly.
Initially, she considered suggesting Chai Yan Yu be invited to the banquet, but then she thought of Zhan Mohan standing beside her and hesitated.
She couldn't quite imagine what Zhan Mohan's expression would be if she proposed it.
"You want him to come?" Zhan Mohan spoke first, addressing Wei Yumeng.
Wei Yumeng was startled by his voice. "What?"
"You want Chai Yan Yu to attend the thank-you banquet?" Zhan Mohan asked again, his tone clearly displeased.
Wei Yumeng suddenly felt a bit frustrated. Had she accidentally spoken her thoughts aloud?
Before Wei Yumeng could answer, Mu Linjing jumped in.
"I think that for a thank-you banquet, everyone who helped us should be invited, right?" Mu Linjing said, intentionally nudging Zhan Yichen's arm.
Zhan Yichen immediately nodded. "Of course. It also shows that our Zhan family is fair and just."
Wei Yumeng looked at them gratefully. If she had suggested it, it might have seemed strange, but coming from the hosts, Zhan Yichen and Mu Linjing, it was perfectly fine.
Mu Linjing even leaned in and whispered to Wei Yumeng, "Yumeng, sometimes I envy you."
Wei Yumeng looked at her with a questioning expression.
"You didn't even say what you were thinking, and he already knew your intention. That's called telepathy. Yichen and I haven't reached that level yet," Mu Linjing said, pouting slightly.
Wei Yumeng smiled. "I'm quite envious of your way of interacting."
Mu Linjing looked at her skeptically. "Are you serious?"
Zhan Yichen glanced at his watch and subtly pulled Mu Linjing back to his side.
"Brother, sister-in-law, it's getting late. We'll be going now."
With that, Zhan Yichen took Mu Linjing's hand, and they left, chatting and laughing.
Wei Yumeng watched their retreating figures and a gentle smile formed on her lips. However, the expression only lasted for a moment, as she still couldn't shake off the feeling of many unnatural elements behind this matter.
"Mohan," Wei Yumeng said to Zhan Mohan. "You also think Huang Yinghua wasn't the mastermind behind this, right?"
"Mm," Zhan Mohan nodded.
Wei Yumeng still felt a sense of unease. Although she had suspicions, she couldn't prove them.
She truly hoped she was overthinking things, but she couldn't convince herself.
Zhan Mohan looked up at the window. Zhan Yichen's car had just left, and the scenery outside seemed rather dim, much like his own worries, making it hard to breathe.
"Mohan..." Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Mohan with concern.
Zhan Mohan simply turned to her and gave a slight smile. "Don't overthink it. It will get better."
