Chai Yanyu's words caught Wei Yumeng off guard, but she quickly recovered.
"Don't joke with me at a time like this."
Chai Yanyu, however, was unconcerned. "I'm telling the truth. A couple of days ago, I heard that the CEO of Zhan Group had changed and Zhan Mohan had gone abroad. I figured you must be lonely, so I rushed over overnight."
Wei Yumeng looked at Chai Yanyu, trying to discern if he was joking or not.
Chai Yanyu continued to smile at her, his already handsome eyes becoming even more captivating when he smiled, leaving Wei Yumeng feeling a bit overwhelmed.
For a moment, Wei Yumeng couldn't tell if he was telling the truth or not.
Seeing Wei Yumeng's predicament, Chai Yanyu finally released her with great satisfaction.
"Alright, I'm done joking. I'm actually here for the Quan family's business," Chai Yanyu said, pouting slightly with distaste.
"Quan family?" Mu Linjing was also surprised.
Chai Yanyu was equally frustrated. "Sister, why do I always encounter such business partners? My luck has been terrible. I thought the Quan family, though small, was at least steady in their dealings. It seems I misjudged them again."

Wei Yumeng finally smiled at him. "Thank you."
"Sister, you finally smiled," Chai Yanyu said. "You've had a long face since I met you today. You look much better when you smile."
Wei Yumeng felt a little helpless, but Chai Yanyu's appearance did put her at ease. With his help, she felt at least one more person was on her side.
After Chai Yanyu took them home, he left, telling Wei Yumeng that he would be staying in Pengcheng for a while and that she could call him if anything came up.
Upon returning home, Wei Yumeng's first action was to call Zhan Mohan. Almost every day at this time, she would have a video call with him.
But today, something unexpected happened. Despite the phone ringing for a long time, Zhan Mohan didn't answer.
