Chapter 987 These People Are Too Much

Wei Yumeng found it a little strange. She hadn't expected Zhan Mohan to actually attend such an event.

Zhan Mohan looked at Wei Yumeng with a hint of helplessness. "What? Is there something strange about what I'm wearing today?"

Wei Yumeng chuckled. "How could it be strange? Look at those socialites and madams; they're staring at you with wide eyes."

Wei Yumeng pouted slightly, clearly displeased, while tightening her grip on Zhan Mohan's arm.

Seeing Wei Yumeng's reaction, Zhan Mohan's lips curved into a slight smile, and he gently squeezed her hand.

In reality, Wei Yumeng already knew that Zhan Mohan wouldn't be here simply to attend a banquet. After all, even she had no idea what this President Xu looked like. And in the past, Zhan Mohan would always directly decline such invitations. This time, however, was peculiar.

Therefore, Zhan Mohan must have had some other special reason for being here.

Throughout the entire banquet, Zhan Mohan indeed seemed somewhat preoccupied. Although he didn't forget to keep an eye on Wei Yumeng.

Just then, Wei Yumeng spotted someone in the crowd. That person bore a striking resemblance to Zhan Mohan, but with a more cunning air.

He appeared to be older than Zhan Mohan, exuding a greater sense of maturity.

Zhan Mohan hadn't expected Wei Yumeng to be momentarily lost in thought while looking at someone else. He frowned slightly, displeased, and turned Wei Yumeng's face towards him.

Wei Yumeng was startled by Zhan Mohan's action and felt even more bewildered.

"Mohan, what's wrong?"

"Who were you looking at that made you freeze like that?"

Wei Yumeng finally came to her senses and explained, "It's not what you think. I just saw someone who looks very much like you. No, they look somewhat like you, yet also unlike you."

"President Zhan."

As they were speaking, a voice emerged between them. Both Wei Yumeng and Zhan Mohan turned to look. It was the man they had seen earlier.

"Who are you?" Zhan Mohan asked, a hint of doubt in his voice.

The man smiled and said, "My name is Zhan Yangyi. I believe President Zhan must have heard this name before."

Zhan Mohan frowned slightly, surprised that this person had sought them out.

Indeed, just as Wei Yumeng had said, even Zhan Mohan himself felt a certain resemblance.

Could this person truly be related to the Zhan family? But why would Old Master Zhan be unwilling to tell him?

Upon hearing the name, Wei Yumeng was somewhat taken aback. This person also had the surname Zhan. Could they be related to Zhan Mohan? She had never heard Zhan Mohan mention anyone like this before.

"So it's you. Pleased to meet you." Although he said this, there was no warmth in Zhan Mohan's eyes.

"Before I came here, I had already heard of President Zhan's reputation. I initially thought you were someone quite remarkable. However, after our previous encounter, it seems you're not so extraordinary."

Even hearing these words, Zhan Mohan's expression didn't change much. After all, he wouldn't be provoked by such statements.

However, Wei Yumeng couldn't sit idly by. "Hello, Mr. Zhan. While I don't know where you've emerged from, I hope you'll watch your words."

Zhan Yangyi looked at Wei Yumeng and let out a light laugh. "Interesting. You must be Wei Yumeng, the acting president of Feng Shi Group, right? Hello, I've always admired your abilities."

With that, he picked up a glass of wine and offered it to Wei Yumeng. "Miss Wei, would you honor me by having a drink with me?"

Wei Yumeng found this person utterly irritating, and he seemed determined to pick a fight. Just as she was about to refuse Zhan Yangyi, Zhan Mohan acted a step faster, knocking the wine glass out of Zhan Yangyi's hand.

Zhan Yangyi sneered. "I didn't expect President Zhan's hospitality to be of this sort."

Zhan Mohan simply stood up, took Wei Yumeng's hand, and left.

Wei Yumeng felt as though they had barely stayed at the banquet for a short while before departing.

"Mohan, what was that about with that person?"

Zhan Mohan frowned. "That person is likely here for me."

"Do you know him?"

"Not exactly. There were some minor issues within Zhan Corporation previously, and it turned out he was the culprit."

This was the first Wei Yumeng had heard of it. "What happened? Did he cause you trouble?"

"It's been resolved. I came to this banquet today precisely to find out who that person is."

"But is that person truly not a member of your Zhan family?" Wei Yumeng asked, still suspicious. After all, he was probably the person who looked most like Zhan Mohan she had ever seen.

"I've already confirmed with the Old Master, but he seems to have some unspoken difficulties. However, this does suggest that Zhan Yangyi is indeed connected to our family."

Wei Yumeng couldn't help but worry. While she had never considered the Zhan family to be a stuffy, traditional clan, this person's appearance was certainly not a good omen.

She was already experiencing a sense of foreboding. Perhaps that person was targeting Zhan Mohan. If so, what unspoken relationship did they have?

Thinking this, she looked at Zhan Mohan. The two of them were indeed incredibly similar, and she had even formed a bold guess.

Yet, she didn't voice it directly. This was no small matter, and if it were to spread, the repercussions would be far greater.

Zhan Mohan noticed Wei Yumeng staring at him blankly and turned to her, asking with a hint of helplessness, "What's wrong?"

Wei Yumeng suddenly felt a little awkward. "It's nothing. I just suddenly thought of something. In any case, Mohan, you must be careful of this person. I have a very bad feeling."

Zhan Mohan nodded. "Yes, I will."

It had only been a day, and indeed, Zhan Yangyi wasn't planning to remain quiet.

Wei Yumeng looked at the news headlines, rubbing her temples with a headache.

The content was precisely about the conflict between Zhan Mohan and Zhan Yangyi. Although Wei Yumeng was present and knew it wasn't a major incident, and Zhan Mohan had quickly taken her away, the reporters had spun it into something else entirely.

Now, the general sentiment was that Zhan Mohan was arrogant and ill-mannered.

Some had even started digging for Zhan Mohan's supposed "dark past."

"These people are going too far."

She hadn't felt this angry when those people had slandered Wei Yumeng before, but seeing them speak ill of Zhan Mohan now, she couldn't tolerate it.

So, she pretended to be one of the onlookers and wrote about the actual events in the comments section.

However, shortly after, even more people engaged in a keyboard war with Wei Yumeng, infuriating her further.

Wu Yi watched the scene unfold with a sense of helplessness. She rarely saw Wei Yumeng so agitated.
