Though Old Master Zhan said so, Zhan Mohan knew very well that Zhan Yangyi had gone too far, making it impossible for things to end simply.
All Zhan Mohan could do now was to face the challenge proactively.
Only by doing so could he secure a peaceful life for them in the future.
Thinking back now, Zhan Mohan suspected that Wei Yumeng’s attitude before was because she already knew about Zhan Yangyi, but was struggling with how to tell him.
Now that he knew everything, he only hoped Wei Yumeng would no longer bear everything alone.
When Wei Yumeng learned that Zhan Mohan knew everything, she felt a pang of sadness. After all, anyone would be upset in such a situation.
She herself had a hard time accepting the relationship between herself and Catherine when she first found out.
What’s more, Zhan Mohan was involved with such a thoroughly dangerous person as Zhan Yangyi.
“Mohan, Zhan Yangyi is too dangerous. I didn’t tell you before because I hoped you would stay away from him. I’m truly worried he might do something to hurt you.”
Zhan Mohan frowned. “So you went to see him alone?”
Hearing this, Wei Yumeng fell silent. So Zhan Mohan knew everything.
However, Zhan Mohan didn’t intend to blame her. “Yumeng, don’t keep things from me like this anymore. I know you mean well, but some things can’t be solved by hiding them. Instead of me knowing nothing, it’s better for me to think of ways to deal with him.”
“Do you have a plan now?” Wei Yumeng was still a little worried.
She knew Zhan Mohan was indeed very capable and powerful; everyone could see that. But Zhan Yangyi had only just appeared, and no one knew his full strength.
Wei Yumeng felt helpless against such an enemy.
But Zhan Mohan nodded very seriously. “You can relax, I’ve already thought of a way. I can handle someone like him.”
Wei Yumeng sighed. She knew it was useless to stop Zhan Mohan now. She could only hope his plan would go smoothly.
Zhan Mohan comforted Wei Yumeng all night because, no matter what, he could tell how worried she was about this matter.
Even when Zhan Mohan left in the morning, Wei Yumeng repeatedly urged him to be careful.
Although Wei Yumeng had returned to her usual work at Feng Corporation, she found it impossible to settle down. Moreover, she had recently begun to notice that things were not right.
All along, the new project had been directly managed by her and Zhan Yangyi. But recently, Zhan Yangyi seemed to be busy with other matters, to the point where she couldn’t reach him every time she called.
Someone else was in the same situation, and that was Zhan Mohan. Thinking of this, Wei Yumeng clenched her fist nervously.
In fact, Zhan Mohan hadn’t returned home for nearly a week. Although he greeted her in advance every day, he never explained why.
Wei Yumeng had also called Zhan Mohan many times to inquire, but he always told her not to worry and refused to tell her anything else.
She knew Zhan Mohan might not want her involved, but wouldn’t she overthink things if she didn’t know what was going on?
While Zhan Mohan’s work often kept him away from home, his absence coinciding with Zhan Yangyi’s disappearance made it impossible for her not to worry.
Her mind was already filled with all sorts of terrifying speculations.
Wu Yi saw Wei Yumeng looking distracted and became even more concerned.
Wei Yumeng usually didn’t let personal emotions affect her work, no matter what happened. That was until something deeply unsettling occurred.
For instance, Wei Yumeng was holding a document and appeared to be examining it closely, but she hadn’t noticed that she was holding it upside down.
“Miss Wei?” Wu Yi tried to gently remind her.
Wei Yumeng then snapped back to attention. Seeing the upside-down document in her hand, she felt a bit embarrassed.
She coughed to mask her embarrassment. “Sorry, I was spacing out.”
“Miss Wei, is something wrong at home? Do you need to take leave to handle it?”
Wu Yi was genuinely concerned about Wei Yumeng. She could endure work pressure for a while, but if Wei Yumeng remained distracted, her work would inevitably be affected.
Wei Yumeng sighed. Was she that obvious? Wu Yi could see it clearly.
“Something has indeed happened recently, and I don’t know what to do.”
“Is it about President Zhan?” Wu Yi quickly added, “I mean Zhan Mohan, President Zhan.”
Wei Yumeng nodded. “It’s just that I don’t know how to ask him about it now.”
Wu Yi seemed surprised. “As far as I know, everyone knows you and President Zhan are very much in love. You’ve overcome so many obstacles together. With all that you’ve been through, I don’t understand why you’re still hesitant.”
Her words reminded Wei Yumeng. That was right. She was Zhan Mohan’s wife. It was perfectly reasonable for her to want to understand what he was currently up to, and there was no need to be so hesitant.
Perhaps it was due to excessive worry that Wei Yumeng had become overly cautious.
Seeing Wei Yumeng’s look of realization, Wu Yi knew she needed time to sort things out. She then proactively said to Wei Yumeng,
“Miss Wei, I can handle the upcoming work. Why don’t you go and deal with your own matters?”
Wei Yumeng gave Wu Yi a slight smile. “Then I’ll have to trouble you with the rest.”
With that, Wei Yumeng picked up her bag and left Feng Corporation.
While it might be inappropriate for her to enter Zhan Corporation without permission given her current status, she was going to see Zhan Mohan as his wife, which should be acceptable.
However, when she inquired at the front desk of Zhan Corporation, the receptionist simply said, “Madam, President Zhan may not have time to see you right now.”
“Do you know what he’s been busy with lately? Why is he so swamped?”
The receptionist looked embarrassed. “We wouldn’t know about such matters.”
Wei Yumeng felt a bit frustrated. She could probably barge in and see Zhan Mohan directly without anyone stopping her, but she worried that her impulsiveness might disrupt his work.
“You go ahead and get busy. I’ll handle this.”
A familiar voice sounded from behind Wei Yumeng. It was Fang Xun.
