Chapter 1037 The Clown Was Me All Along

Fang Xun continued, "The bottom right corner of this video has a timestamp, so you should be able to clearly see who it is."

Because of the surveillance camera's position, which was specifically set up to film customers during checkout, the angle directly captured Catherine's face and the items she purchased.

She had bought a type of abortion pill.

Wei Yumeng looked at Kai and asked, "You can't possibly claim these are fabricated by us, can you?"

Kai was completely stunned, rooted to the spot. He couldn't process it, nor could he understand why Catherine would do such a thing.

"As for the entire sequence of events, I can explain it to you now," Fang Xun said meticulously. "Actually, a few days ago, Catherine had already prepared everything. She intended to create a plan to ruin the Madam's reputation and even plunge her into greater trouble."

Wei Yumeng added, "So she planned to sacrifice her own child and frame me for it. Nothing would be more serious than that."

Fang Xun nodded. "Exactly. So she bought abortion pills in advance and intended to take them at the opportune moment, fabricating the scenario that she miscarried because of the Madam."

"Then, that day, Catherine used the excuse of Madam Feng being kidnapped to lure Yumeng there and instructed the supposed kidnappers to have them both enter the mountains alone. This created a space where only the two of them were present," Zhan Mohan stated calmly. "Once something happened, no third party would witness the truth, and Catherine could confidently blame everything on Yumeng."

At this point, Zhan Mohan clenched his fists. He was determined not to let Catherine off the hook this time.

Fang Xun tapped a few times on the tablet, and another video appeared. "This person is one of the bodyguards I found who cooperated with Catherine's act at the Feng residence that day."

"Actually, I was just a security guard in a residential complex. Miss Catherine approached me, saying that if I did as she said, she would give me a generous reward. I was blinded by greed and agreed to it."

Fang Xun continued, "What happened afterward is as we all know. The plan went very smoothly, and Catherine successfully burdened the Madam with such a charge."

"However, it seems that this wasn't enough for Catherine to use against me, so she told you about it, and naturally, you would take action against me for the sake of the child."

Wei Yumeng even felt a pang of sympathy for Kai at this point. Kai had always been nothing more than a pawn in Catherine's eyes.

"No... no... everything you're saying is false, you're lying to me!" Kai released the sharp object in his hand and clutched his head in great distress.

"Whether you're being lied to or not, you know best, don't you?" Zhan Mohan said coldly.

However, Kai quickly regained his composure. "You've tried to ruin the relationship between me and Linlin multiple times. I won't let you off the hook this time!"

With that, Kai lunged at Wei Yumeng with the small knife. Zhan Mohan immediately pulled Wei Yumeng aside, but his arm was scratched.

"Mohan!" Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Mohan with concern.

"It's fine, just a small wound."

Meanwhile, the police officers who had been lying in wait nearby seized the opportunity to rescue the children, retreated to a safe distance, and surrounded Kai.

"Kai, I know you must be going through a difficult time, but this is all the truth. Even if you don't accept it, it has happened."

Although Wei Yumeng said this, her eyes were fixed on Zhan Mohan's wound, her worry evident.

Kai gradually slumped to the ground, utterly spent. He knew that what Wei Yumeng and the others were saying was the truth. It was impossible for all the evidence they presented to be fabricated.

In the end, Catherine's actions toward him were purely exploitative, and he now realized he had gambled away the rest of his life.

Seeing that Kai had stopped resisting, the police officers stepped forward and apprehended him again.

Watching Kai being led away, Wei Yumeng heard his laughter, which sounded like utter despair.

The two children were sent to the hospital for examination. Fortunately, they had not suffered any other harm, only having inhaled the anesthetic, which caused them to remain unconscious.

Wei Yumeng stayed by the children's side. Regardless of what happened, she felt that this was her problem. If it weren't for her conflict with Catherine, perhaps none of this would have occurred.

Zhan Mohan's wound had been treated. He gently patted Wei Yumeng's shoulder to comfort her.

"Everything is fine now."

Wei Yumeng finally nodded. "I hope this matter can truly come to an end."

Kai returned to the place he had once stayed for a period. He truly hadn't expected to be back so soon.

The last time he was here, he had come willingly. But this time, he only felt like a fool.

There had been so many times when Wei Yumeng and Zhan Mohan had told him the truth, and if he had believed them, so many things wouldn't have happened.

Yet, he had insisted on believing Catherine, which had led to this outcome.

"Officer, may I see Catherine?"

The officer considered it. Catherine was also a key figure in this incident, so he agreed.

Kai waited for two full days before finally seeing Catherine again.

However, Catherine had only been told by the police that Kai had been arrested again for attempted kidnapping, so she believed he had simply failed the plan.

As long as she persisted, Kai wouldn't doubt her.

"Kai, I..." Catherine was about to say something when Kai interrupted her.

"Catherine, you've deceived me terribly. You never intended to keep our child from the beginning, did you?" Kai stood up in anger.

Catherine blinked slightly. "Why do you say that? Who's been feeding you lies? I haven't. Believe me."

"How can I believe you anymore? I saw the surveillance footage of you buying abortion pills, and all your plans. What else do you have to say?"

As Kai spoke, he even became so agitated that he punched the glass of the interview room. The police officers behind him immediately pulled him back to his seat.

Hearing this, Catherine knew that Wei Yumeng and Zhan Mohan must have uncovered everything and revealed the truth to Kai.

Therefore, any further explanation would be futile. Kai had already come to his own conclusion on the matter.

Catherine took a deep breath. All she could do now was confess everything to Kai.

"Yes, what you know is correct. The previous incident was indeed my plan. But there's one thing I hope you'll believe me on. I originally just wanted to scare Wei Yumeng, but I never expected the child to actually..." At this point, Catherine began to cry.
