Chapter 1035 Where Do We Meet

Zhan Jinzhi, using almost all his strength, managed to catch up to Zhan Shiqing ahead.

"Shiqing! Don't run off!"

But by the time he warned Zhan Shiqing, it was too late. The person in the mascot bear costume had reappeared in front of them.

Zhan Shiqing looked at the person in front of her and felt that their face had become ferocious.

She immediately understood her predicament and even regretted her impulsive dash.

The person in the bear costume stepped closer to Zhan Shiqing, who was petrified by the sight and didn't know how to react, simply staring ahead blankly.

Zhan Jinzhi was still some distance away from Zhan Shiqing, but he didn't give up. He rushed forward and stood in front of her.

"I won't let you hurt Shiqing."

With that, he charged at the bear mascot. The costume was indeed too cumbersome, causing the person inside to stumble and nearly fall.

"Tch, what a nuisance." The person finally took off the costume, revealing their true appearance.

It was Kai.

He hadn't expected these two kids to be so difficult to handle. This boy was far more troublesome than he had anticipated.

Zhan Jinzhi seized the opportunity to pull Zhan Shiqing and tried to escape from the other side. But after only a few steps, several men who looked formidable appeared from that direction.

They had no choice but to retreat.

"Little ones, I advise you to come with me obediently, or you'll have to suffer some consequences."

Kai said, walking up behind the two children.

Now, with both front and back blocked by Kai, the two children had nowhere to escape.

Wei Yumeng and Mu Linjing had not stopped searching. They had scoured the area, but in the end, they couldn't find any trace of the two children.

"Shiqing! Jinzhi!" Wei Yumeng's voice was hoarse, but there was still no response.

Mu Linjing, looking at the bodyguards, became even more furious. "What are you all doing? You can't even protect two children!"

But the bodyguards had no idea what had happened. They had followed Mu Linjing's instructions to cordon off the area immediately, blocking almost all possible routes to the outside, yet they hadn't seen any suspicious individuals leave, let alone the two children.

"I refuse to believe people can just vanish into thin air," Mu Linjing's anxiety was no less than Wei Yumeng's.

Her heart ached terribly. If she hadn't insisted that Wei Yumeng bring the children out, perhaps none of this would have happened.

Wei Yumeng could no longer run. Her steps gradually slowed, and finally, she stopped.

"Jinzhi… Shiqing…" Other than calling their names, her mind was blank.

She had lost the children in the end. What should she do now? How could she find them?

Wei Yumeng panted, trying to calm herself. She knew that pure panic wouldn't solve anything.

She took a deep breath. At least she had a suspicion about who might be behind this. If she could find that person, there would surely be other ways.

Even if it cost her everything, Wei Yumeng was determined to find the two children.

Just then, her phone rang.

"Hello?"

"It's me, Kai."

Wei Yumeng immediately yelled into the phone, "Give me back my children!"

"It seems you already know the children are with me." Kai's voice was filled with coldness. "Fine, I'll return the children to you, but I want you and Zhan Mohan to come to a designated location alone. No police. If I find out you've called the police, you'll never see your children again."

Wei Yumeng bit her lip. She had no choice now. Although Zhan Mohan wasn't here, she believed his decision would be the same as hers.

"Okay, I promise. Where should we meet?"

"I'll send you the address shortly. Remember, no tricks."

Kai hung up the phone.

After hanging up, Wei Yumeng slumped down. Although she had agreed with Kai, she was still extremely worried. She couldn't be sure Kai wouldn't harm the children beforehand as promised.

Wei Yumeng finally couldn't hold back her tears. Mu Linjing, seeing her like this, also felt sad and silently hugged her.

"Yumeng, this is also my fault. I want to help."

But Wei Yumeng shook her head. "No matter what, this is a problem between me and Catherine. Only we can resolve it."

Since the decision was made, Wei Yumeng didn't want to stay any longer. She bid farewell to Mu Linjing and went straight home. She needed to be fully prepared to meet Kai.

She would resolve everything face-to-face!

Because Wei Yumeng had already informed Zhan Mohan about the situation over the phone on the way, he had just arrived home when she got back.

"Has the address been sent?" Zhan Mohan asked, his brow furrowed, revealing his deep concern.

Wei Yumeng handed her phone to Zhan Mohan. It contained Kai's message.

The address was a dilapidated building in the suburbs, apparently slated for demolition, a very dangerous place.

Zhan Mohan checked the time. There were still four hours until the meeting time Kai had set. Although Kai had forbidden them from calling the police, it didn't mean they had to comply.

With that, Zhan Mohan sent the address to a police officer he knew.

"Mohan, I'm really worried if the police get involved."

Zhan Mohan gently stroked Wei Yumeng's hair. "I know how dangerous this is, but if we don't take the initiative, we'll only be at a disadvantage. I've informed this officer, and I trust him to handle it."

Wei Yumeng looked into Zhan Mohan's determined eyes and finally decided to trust his judgment.

"Okay. Is there anything else I need to prepare?"

Zhan Mohan thought for a moment. "Actually, I've already asked Fang Xun to investigate this. If we simply arrest Kai, it won't solve the root of the problem. We need Kai to know the truth."

Wei Yumeng immediately understood Zhan Mohan's meaning. "I need to buy more time for Fang Xun to find sufficient evidence."

Zhan Mohan nodded slightly. "Yes, the investigation is nearing its end. We just need the final piece of evidence to bring everything to light."
