Chapter 1011 What Did He Do to You

Wei Yumeng glanced at Zhan Mohan. As expected, his expression had turned dark again. At this particular moment, with Zhan Yangyi suffering from a leg injury, it seemed a little too coincidental.

Anyone with eyes could see Zhan Yangyi's intentions.

Wei Yumeng naturally understood that Zhan Yangyi likely wanted a private conversation with her.

However, in the current situation, this would only make Zhan Mohan even more resentful towards Zhan Yangyi. Yet, Wei Yumeng couldn't let this continue.

After all, the two brothers had finally reconciled.

Wei Yumeng pondered for a moment and then proactively said to Zhan Mohan, "Mohan, please go ahead by yourself. I'll be fine staying here."

Zhan Mohan's dissatisfaction was evident on his face, but seeing Wei Yumeng constantly giving him signals, he could only swallow his frustration.

"You take care of yourself. I'll be back soon." Zhan Mohan said, deliberately glancing at Zhan Yangyi. "If anyone dares to do anything to you, no matter who they are, I will not let them off."

Wei Yumeng felt a bit awkward, sensing the increasing tension. This was not the outcome she desired.

"Alright, alright. It's just the two of us here. What could possibly happen? Hurry back."

Only then did Zhan Mohan leave the ward with a look of unease.

Seeing Zhan Mohan depart, Wei Yumeng finally breathed a sigh of relief and turned to Zhan Yangyi. "Okay, he's gone. What exactly did you want to talk to me about?"

Zhan Yangyi smiled at Wei Yumeng. "You noticed. But this matter is important. I hope you can come closer."

Despite her reservations, Wei Yumeng walked to Zhan Yangyi's bedside.

To her utter surprise, as soon as she sat down, Zhan Yangyi suddenly sat up and, with a swift movement, pinned Wei Yumeng down on the bed.

Wei Yumeng realized then that things had taken a turn for the worse. She had initially thought that Zhan Yangyi, now back with the Zhan family, would be more considerate of their relationship. But it seemed she had overestimated him.

"What are you doing?" Wei Yumeng struggled to break free from Zhan Yangyi's grasp.

However, Zhan Yangyi's earlier smile was gone, replaced by a look of cold indifference. "I want you to tell me yourself, why did you ask me to return to the Zhan family?"

Wei Yumeng was slightly taken aback. She hadn't expected the reason to be this. She wondered who had told Zhan Yangyi what to make him ask such a question, but she felt no guilt.

"The reason we brought you back is simply because you are a part of the Zhan family. You deserved to be here."

"Is that all?" After Catherine's instigation, Zhan Yangyi was not about to believe Wei Yumeng so easily.

Wei Yumeng took a deep breath. "I admit that at the beginning, I did want to ease the relationship between you and Mohan through this approach, because only then could you live in harmony. But the situation has changed. Both Grandpa and Mohan now truly consider you a part of the Zhan family. Aren't you the one who should know this best?"

Zhan Yangyi let out a cold laugh. "So, you admit that from the start, you did this solely for Zhan Mohan's sake?"

Wei Yumeng felt a surge of frustration. Why did Zhan Yangyi only listen to half of what was being said?

"Can't you listen to the whole thing? You are now a member of the Zhan family, and we all feel that way. What else is so important?"

But Wei Yumeng could tell from looking at Zhan Yangyi that he wasn't listening to her at all.

"Let go of me!" Wei Yumeng struggled again.

However, Zhan Yangyi had no intention of releasing her. He even leaned closer to Wei Yumeng instinctively.

Wei Yumeng realized Zhan Yangyi was not behaving normally and struggled even harder. But the more she struggled, the tighter Zhan Yangyi held her down.

Zhan Yangyi had never been this close to Wei Yumeng. The scent emanating from her filled his senses, and even he realized that something was about to overwhelm him.

Since Wei Yumeng admitted that their initial intention in bringing him back to the Zhan family was not entirely selfless, did that mean he couldn't fully trust the Zhan family?

If so, perhaps he could abandon the identity of the Zhan family's grandson, or rather, Zhan Mohan's brother, and find another way to possess this woman?

"Brother, you can't do this! I am Mohan's wife, your sister-in-law!" Wei Yumeng exclaimed loudly.

Zhan Yangyi froze. Looking at Wei Yumeng pinned beneath him, his face turned pale.

Then, as if he had touched something he shouldn't have, he recoiled abruptly, accidentally aggravating his leg wound.

Wei Yumeng's words had clearly jolted Zhan Yangyi back to reality. Hadn't he already accepted the fact that he was Zhan Mohan's brother? Even if the Zhan family had ulterior motives, could he truly abandon this identity?

Seizing the opportunity, Wei Yumeng broke free from Zhan Yangyi and stood at a distance on the other side of the room.

The atmosphere in the ward became strange. Neither of them spoke again.

When Zhan Mohan returned, he saw the two figures in the room in silent contemplation. Being perceptive, he sensed that something was amiss.

"What's wrong?" Zhan Mohan asked Wei Yumeng, his face darkening, and cast an displeased glance at Zhan Yangyi.

Wei Yumeng immediately waved her hand. "Nothing. Mohan, why did you take so long?"

Zhan Mohan raised his hand. "I remembered a shop nearby that you like, so I went there specifically."

Wei Yumeng's face lit up with joy. "Mohan, you're too good to me."

Although Wei Yumeng had managed to smooth things over, Zhan Yangyi remained silent until the very end and simply lay on the bed pretending to be asleep.

While Wei Yumeng hadn't told Zhan Mohan about the incident, she was acutely aware that Zhan Yangyi's questions indicated his growing suspicions. Therefore, from the Zhan family's perspective, Zhan Yangyi might no longer be a completely safe presence.

She turned to look at Zhan Mohan. She felt that there were things she needed to tell him, but she couldn't disclose what had happened between her and Zhan Yangyi in the ward today, as it would only make matters worse.

"Mohan, actually, today I found that Eldest Brother seems a bit off."

Zhan Mohan frowned. As expected, something had happened between them while he was away.

"What did he do to you?"

"It's not that. I feel like his thoughts have changed, but I can't quite articulate it."
