"Alright sister, didn't you say you had something to discuss with me? Look, my room is still being tidied. How about we go to yours?"
Chai Yanyu looked at Wei Yumeng expectantly.
She wasn't sure if it was because the lounge had been redecorated to resemble her boudoir, but she felt it was a bit odd to let another man in. However, she quickly reminded herself that it was just a better-decorated lounge.
"Of course," Wei Yumeng nodded.
The two then entered the room and closed the door.
Wei Yumeng noticed that ever since entering the room, Chai Yanyu seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood.
"You seem very happy?"
"Of course. This place is just like your room, sister, and I'm fortunate enough to be allowed in. I naturally feel very honored."
Hearing this, Wei Yumeng felt a bit awkward. She had finally convinced herself it was just a lounge, only for Chai Yanyu to bring it up again.
She coughed unnaturally and then took out the script. "Let's talk about business first. There isn't much time left before filming officially begins."
"Okay," Chai Yanyu said with a smile.
Wei Yumeng placed the script in front of them and pointed to a line of dialogue. "I'm not sure how to perform this part, so I wanted to know if you have any unique ideas for this scene."
Chai Yanyu looked at it and said, "The female protagonist in the plot is an upright, bold, and brave lawyer. She has her own understanding and adherence to cases and justice, but she's rather oblivious when it comes to romance. So, I think this scene is where the female lead first starts to realize her feelings for the male lead. Therefore, she should seem a bit confused, lost, and perhaps even conflicted."
Wei Yumeng thought about it and felt that Chai Yanyu's analysis aligned well with her own thoughts, but she was unsure how to portray the heroine's emotions and the tone of her dialogue.
Seeing Wei Yumeng pondering with some difficulty, Chai Yanyu proposed a solution. "Sister, I think why don't we just try acting it out according to the script? Perhaps everything will become clear then."
Wei Yumeng looked at the characters and setting for that scene. Indeed, it was just a scene between the male and female leads.
"Okay, let's try?" Wei Yumeng still felt a little uneasy. "If you think my acting is off in any way, please tell me directly."
As Wei Yumeng spoke, she found a spot and stood, but still felt a bit flustered and anxious.
Chai Yanyu saw Wei Yumeng's demeanor and shook his head helplessly. "Sister, you can't be this nervous. Imagine you are the female lawyer in the movie. You've upheld your responsibility as a lawyer, but you've inadvertently hurt someone who loves you."
As Chai Yanyu spoke, he lay down on the sofa, feigning serious illness.
Perhaps it was Chai Yanyu's acting, which was incredibly realistic, but it truly drew Wei Yumeng into the scene.
Wei Yumeng slowly walked over and sat down beside Chai Yanyu. "Why did you do this? Do you know how dangerous it was just now? What if... what if..."
"Don't cry. I'm really fine," Chai Yanyu said gently, looking at Wei Yumeng. "I've told you many times, no matter what you do, I will always support you. You just need to do what you want to do."
As these lines were spoken, Wei Yumeng jolted. She had finally managed to get into character, but these lines reminded her of Zhan Mohan.
In reality, hadn't Zhan Mohan always treated her this way? Supporting her in everything, always standing by her side.
Seeing Wei Yumeng suddenly freeze, Chai Yanyu didn't rush. He simply waited for her reaction.
However, Wei Yumeng eventually stood up with a hint of apology. "Sorry, I got distracted. I guess I'm still not very used to acting."
"It's okay, sister. We're not in a hurry. I can practice with you anytime."
Just then, Su Boyang's voice came from outside the door.
"President Zhan, why are you here? Are you here to visit Miss Wei?"
"Yes, where is she now?"
"She should be in the lounge."
Immediately after, the door to the lounge was opened, and Zhan Mohan saw the two people inside.
"Mohan, why are you here?" Wei Yumeng walked over. "I was just discussing the script with President Chai."
Chai Yanyu, however, merely looked at Zhan Mohan without speaking.
Zhan Mohan took the script from Wei Yumeng's hand and casually flipped through it, only to stumble upon a section he could not tolerate.
There was a kissing scene in this movie.
Zhan Mohan's expression instantly turned grim. He began to regret letting Wei Yumeng participate in the film.
Seeing Zhan Mohan's demeanor, Wei Yumeng's heart pounded. She cautiously asked, "President Zhan, do you find any issues with this script?"
"Change this, and this."
Su Boyang looked and saw that they were all parts where the male and female leads had intimate contact.
"This..." Su Boyang looked conflicted. As a romance film, how could the progression of the male and female leads' relationship be depicted without kisses?
"President Zhan, these scenes are just for filming. We'll use forced perspective to create a visual illusion. They won't actually..."
Before Su Boyang could finish speaking, he was met with a sharp glance from Zhan Mohan and promptly fell silent.
Chai Yanyu had originally hoped to develop something further with Wei Yumeng through these scenes, but he hadn't expected Zhan Mohan to cut them so abruptly.
Su Boyang dared not disobey Zhan Mohan, but Chai Yanyu was different.
Chai Yanyu suddenly chuckled softly. "Sister, I hadn't heard before that this President Zhan is so petty. Since he's letting sister participate in the filming, he's also dictating her work. This is quite unlike the good husband everyone talks about."
He deliberately leaned closer to Wei Yumeng. "If it were me, I would at least ask for sister's consent first."
Wei Yumeng felt awkward. She knew that Zhan Mohan, as her husband, would indeed care about such scenes, but as an actress in this film, she also had a responsibility to the movie.
"Mohan, why don't you let me try? Since the director said it's just acting, and as long as I don't do anything out of line, no one can force me."
Hearing Wei Yumeng's words, Zhan Mohan's expression worsened, and he looked as though he was about to explode.
Wei Yumeng, feeling helpless, turned to the others. "I'm sorry, I need to speak with my husband privately."
Everyone understood and gradually left. As Chai Yanyu departed, he deliberately gave Wei Yumeng a bright smile, offering her encouragement.
After everyone had left, Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Mohan with a sense of helplessness.
