Chapter 1277 Do Not Force Yourself

After an unknown period of waiting, almost everyone fell silent, merely awaiting the final outcome.

Perhaps by this point, aside from Wei Yumeng, they all had some psychological preparedness.

Although Wei Yumeng had managed to control her emotions, her body, unable to withstand her previous emotional turmoil, suddenly made her feel dizzy and lightheaded.

Chai Yanyu, who had been closely observing her condition, noticed her distress and immediately inquired.

"Yumeng, how are you? Are you feeling unwell?"

Wei Yumeng shook her head at once, "No, I'm fine."

She stubbornly held herself up, determined to witness the final answer with her own eyes.

However, how could Chai Yanyu not see she was merely forcing herself? He frowned and, disregarding whether Wei Yumeng was willing, picked her up horizontally.

"A'yu, what are you doing?"

Chai Yanyu's tone was somewhat stern, "Yumeng, don't force yourself."

"A'yu, put me down, I must wait for him to come out," Wei Yumeng said, struggling.

But Chai Yanyu held her tightly and said to the others, "I'll leave the situation here to you. I'm taking her to rest."

Zhan Yang glanced at them and nodded slightly.

"A'yu!" Wei Yumeng was full of reluctance, but she was no match for Chai Yanyu's strength.

Under the watchful eyes of the others, Wei Yumeng was indeed taken back to the ward by Chai Yanyu.

As soon as Chai Yanyu set Wei Yumeng down, she seized the opportunity and rushed towards the ward door.

Fortunately, Chai Yanyu had anticipated she wouldn't stay put obediently and pulled her back in time.

"A'yu, don't do this! I just want to wait for him to come out. Please let me go, okay? As long as I get the result, no matter what it is, I'll listen to you and go back to rest properly."

Wei Yumeng's eyes were full of pleading, and even her voice carried a hint of a sob.

Seeing Wei Yumeng like this, Chai Yanyu felt a pang of sympathy, but he was currently prioritizing Wei Yumeng's health.

According to the doctor's assessment, Wei Yumeng's physical condition was no longer suitable for pregnancy. He had been trying his best to help her regain her strength and could not let her jeopardize her health further for such matters.

"Yumeng, calm down. Think about what you should be doing right now. There's a child in your belly. Do you really not care about your own body?" Chai Yanyu said, his voice tinged with anger as he yelled at Wei Yumeng, marking the first time he had ever raised his voice at her.

"A'yu..." Wei Yumeng seemed startled by him, pausing slightly and looking down with a hint of grievance.

Chai Yanyu let out a helpless sigh, then softened his voice, "I understand how worried you are about him right now, but you must also take good care of yourself to welcome him back, right? And of course, the child in your belly."

He said this as he gently laid Wei Yumeng on the bed, "Be good, get some sleep. When you wake up, everything will be better."

Wei Yumeng stopped struggling and instead lay down obediently on the bed.

"A'yu... Mo Han will be alright, won't he?"

Chai Yanyu nodded, "Yes, he will be alright. You'll see him when you wake up."

Seeing that Wei Yumeng's mood seemed to have calmed down, Chai Yanyu stood up, intending to leave. To his surprise, Wei Yumeng called him back.

"A'yu, stay with me for a while, I'm a little scared."

Chai Yanyu then sat down again, "Alright, I'll be right here, I'm not going anywhere."

Wei Yumeng looked at the ward's ceiling, clearly aware of what she feared most.

She wasn't afraid of the darkness of being alone in the ward, but rather of waking up to find herself utterly alone, and Zhan Mohan...

Thinking of this, she shriveled up further, burying herself completely within the quilt.

A short while later, the dizziness returned, and Wei Yumeng finally succumbed and fell asleep.

Only when he heard Wei Yumeng's steady breathing did Chai Yanyu stand up and walk to the bedside.

He extricated Wei Yumeng from beneath the quilt and re-covered her.

Looking at Wei Yumeng's sleeping face, he gently stroked her cheek.

He knew, in fact, that Wei Yumeng was well aware that Zhan Mohan's condition was as dire as everyone could see.

Her repeated reassurances were merely for her own psychological comfort.

Sometimes, people are simply more inclined to believe what they wish to believe.

Just then, a knock sounded at the ward door.

Chai Yanyu frowned, and after confirming Wei Yumeng was sleeping soundly, he stepped out of the ward.

"Mr. Chai." A man in black, wearing a black round hat, was looking at him.

Chai Yanyu could only stare at the other party coldly, "Is there something?"

"Mr. Chai, I believe you are well aware of your current identity. You are our young lady's fiancé. What you should and shouldn't do, I shouldn't need to remind you."

Hearing this, Chai Yanyu merely let out a cold laugh, "How I conduct myself is none of your business, and that includes you, Robin."

Chai Yanyu's direct response stunned the other party.

He had always known that his surveillance could not escape Chai Yanyu's notice, and Chai Yanyu had been very careful to maintain his distance from Wei Yumeng, avoiding any intimate contact. But today, everything seemed different.

Chai Yanyu's response was undoubtedly an act of defiance against Robin.

"Mr. Chai, I hope you'll watch your words. Don't forget the deal between you and our master. If this relationship is broken, your Chai family will also face trouble."

How could Chai Yanyu not know that to gain Robin's trust, he had proactively handed over certain things to him?

If he fell out with Robin now, the consequences would be unimaginable, as Robin was not someone to be trifled with.

But thinking of Wei Yumeng, Chai Yanyu had no choice but to act this way.

Given the current situation, perhaps he was all Wei Yumeng would have in the future.

Seeing Chai Yanyu lost in thought, the man assumed he had been persuaded and said, "I will help you keep this matter from the master this time, but I don't want to see this happen again. You should stay away from that woman."

With that, the man turned and left.

Chai Yanyu watched the man's retreating back, clenching his fists. If he wanted to give Wei Yumeng a stable life, he had to find a way, no matter the cost.

If he had known Wei Yumeng would encounter such a situation, he would have taken her away from Black Street back then.

Perhaps if he hadn't found Zhan Mohan at the time, Wei Yumeng would have given up sooner, and perhaps she wouldn't have encountered what happened later.

But such "maybes" were only for contemplation. As things stood, nothing could be undone.
