Chapter 969 I Don't Want to Go to Jail

Catherine now had no one to rely on. Even Kai, whom she thought would never abandon her, had made his choice.

"Wei Yumeng, you are so cruel." Catherine clenched her fists. Wasn't it all because of Wei Yumeng that things had escalated to this point?

She was truly starting to regret it. She should have killed Wei Yumeng in one go back then, so she wouldn't have this chance now.

But what was the use of thinking about these things now?

Catherine looked at her hands, feeling a sense of detachment. What should she do next to save herself from this predicament?

Wei Yumeng certainly wouldn't let her go, and even Kai no longer believed her.

"Right..."

Catherine couldn't help but think that perhaps she could try her luck with Song Lijun and Feng Zhenhua. After all, she was their daughter, wasn't she?

As parents, they wouldn't stand by and watch their child fall into such a predicament without helping.

With that thought, she hurried to the hospital.

Song Lijun was checking Feng Zhenhua's condition. "Zhenhua, the doctor said your condition is improving, and you'll be able to be discharged soon."

Feng Zhenhua nodded. "Good, as long as I'm better, I can go back to Feng's and see how Linlin is managing the company."

"By the way, Yumeng also told me she'll pick you up when you're discharged."

Upon hearing Song Lijun mention Wei Yumeng, Feng Zhenhua nodded in approval. "Yumeng has always been a good child. If only Linlin were half as sensible as her, you and I wouldn't have to worry so much."

Song Lijun smiled. "Isn't Linlin also doing well lately? Don't dwell on the past."

Feng Zhenhua sighed. "Enough, enough. It's in the past."

Just then, Catherine entered the ward.

Song Lijun quickly beckoned her over. "Linlin, you're here. Your father and I were just talking about you. How have you been these past few days? How is the company?"

Catherine lowered her head, biting her lower lip, unable to speak for a moment. She had overheard outside that Song Lijun and Feng Zhenhua had decided to forget her past actions, but now she was coming to them for help because of those very past actions that had come to light.

"Linlin, what's wrong?" Song Lijun sensed her unease.

"Mom, I..."

Catherine hesitated again. It was the first time she felt so helpless and insecure, and she didn't even know if Song Lijun and Feng Zhenhua would still stand by her.

"Looking at her, she must have caused trouble again," Feng Zhenhua hit the nail on the head.

"Good child, tell us. No matter what has happened, we will stand by you."

At this moment, Song Lijun had no idea how serious the situation was.

"Dad, Mom, you must help me. I have no other way. I didn't want this to happen." Catherine burst into tears.

"Linlin, what happened?" Song Lijun grew increasingly anxious.

Catherine, sobbing, finally spoke. "Kai, Kai is planning to tell the police everything that happened before. Then... then I..."

Hearing this, Song Lijun's vision blurred, and she felt dizzy. She barely managed to stay conscious.

She knew about that incident. If she hadn't gone to Kai to take the blame for Catherine back then, Catherine would be in prison now.

"This is retribution," Song Lijun murmured. She had known all along what had really happened.

They had gone to great lengths to help Catherine escape the consequences.

In other words, in Song Lijun's heart, she had long known that Catherine was inextricably linked to that incident.

"Dad, Mom, you helped me before. You'll protect me again this time, right?" Catherine clutched Song Lijun's hand, but Song Lijun's hand was cold.

Feng Zhenhua took a while to recover. "I knew it, I knew you'd never let me have any peace!"

He pointed at Catherine. "Do you really intend to anger us to death?"

Catherine quickly explained, crying. "No, I didn't do anything. It was Kai who suddenly changed his mind. I don't know why, I really don't know."

But Feng Zhenhua no longer believed her. "If you didn't do anything, why would Kai change his mind? Do you think your mother and I are that easy to fool?"

Catherine knew she couldn't hide it, but she also couldn't reveal what she had done. So, she shifted the blame to Wei Yumeng.

"Dad, you're right. Actually, Kai changed his mind because he listened to Wei Yumeng."

Catherine lowered her head. It would be best if she could use this opportunity to sow discord between Wei Yumeng and Feng Zhenhua.

But things didn't develop as she had hoped.

"Even now, you're still blaming everything on Yumeng?" Feng Zhenhua looked at her with disappointment. "If you hadn't done so many underhanded things, how would your mother have let Kai take the blame for you? How would things have ended up like this?"

Catherine clenched her fists. It seemed Feng Zhenhua had completely sided with Wei Yumeng. What did she, Catherine, truly mean to Feng Zhenhua now?

Since Feng Zhenhua was unwilling to help her, she could only place her hope in Song Lijun.

"Mom... I know you won't abandon me."

Song Lijun rubbed her temples and said, "Linlin, some things can't be hidden forever. Even if we help you again, who can guarantee that the same thing won't happen again? Linlin, you should go and turn yourself in."

Catherine staggered, her eyes wide as she looked at Song Lijun and Feng Zhenhua.

"Dad, Mom, why aren't you helping me? I can't go to jail! Why aren't you helping me?" Catherine cried out desperately.

"It's all because of Wei Yumeng, isn't it? If it weren't for her appearance, our family wouldn't be like this!"

Catherine stubbornly wiped away her tears. "Since neither of you is willing to help me, I'll find my own way."

Catherine turned and left the hospital without looking back. She knew that these two people might no longer consider her their daughter.

Song Lijun watched Catherine's retreating figure, her heart aching. She even wondered if things would have been different if she hadn't doted on her so much.

Feng Zhenhua seemed to sense what Song Lijun was thinking, and merely sighed, patting her hand in comfort.
