Chapter 805 Concealing Malice

Even though he already knew, Zhan Mohan’s heart sank when Song Lijun said it herself.

This matter must never be known by Yumeng. This was Zhan Mohan’s immediate thought. If she were to find out that he had been mistakenly raised, and that Wei Anguo was not her biological father, who could bear such a heavy blow?

Song Lijun sighed as she recalled the past events.

“It was the hospital’s negligence during childbirth that mixed up the two babies.”

Hearing this, Zhan Mohan quickly understood what Song Lijun meant.

“So, Catherine is Wei Anguo’s child.”

“Yes.” Feng Zhenhua nodded in confirmation.

“Then are you back to recognize Yumeng?” When Wei Yumeng was mentioned, Zhan Mohan’s gaze turned sharp. He didn’t care who her biological parents were; he only hoped to prevent her from suffering any further harm.

“Actually, we originally thought so, but…” Song Lijun trailed off, then smiled contently at Zhan Mohan. “Seeing that Yumeng is living so happily now, whether we acknowledge each other or not is no longer important.”

The ultimate hope of parents is to see their children have a good life and live happily.

Feng Zhenhua echoed, “With you by Yumeng’s side, we are now at ease. We owe Yumeng so much over the years, but seeing that someone treats her so well now, both Lijun and I have no more worries.”

As a man, Feng Zhenhua could see that Zhan Mohan was sincere towards his daughter.

“Please rest assured, my feelings for Yumeng will not change. But what are your plans now?” Zhan Mohan rarely spoke such words in front of outsiders, but when Wei Yumeng was mentioned, even this ice mountain would soften.

Feng Zhenhua and Song Lijun exchanged glances and said, “We have decided not to tell Yumeng. As long as she is happy, that’s all that matters.”

Happiness was their only hope for Wei Yumeng.

Zhan Mohan nodded. “I worry Yumeng might not be able to handle this right now. We can tell her at a more suitable time in the future.”

The three continued to chat for a long time, their conversations undoubtedly revolving around Wei Yumeng. Song Lijun asked many questions about Yumeng’s past. As a mother, how she wished she could have grown up with her child.

After this long conversation, by the time Feng Zhenhua and Song Lijun returned home, it was already dark.

Song Lijun put down her bag and called upstairs, “Linlin.”

But there was no response.

Song Lijun walked to the kitchen and asked the aunt who was busy preparing dinner, “Is Linlin not home?”

The aunt shook her head. “Madam, the young lady hasn’t been home all day.”

“Not home all day?” Song Lijun asked in surprise.

Feng Zhenhua walked over from the living room. “Don’t ask. Linlin went to the company. She just called me.”

“Give me your phone, let me say a few words to her,” Song Lijun waved at him.

“She already hung up.”

“Did she say when she’ll be back?” Song Lijun asked.

“No, she just told us not to worry about her.”

“This child, why doesn’t she even say where she’s going now?” Song Lijun grumbled with annoyance.

“Don’t be angry, Linlin is all grown up now,” Feng Zhenhua comforted her. He then added, “However, I heard from people at the company that Linlin has been busy with recruiting new staff lately, and some senior executives have been issued resignation notices by her.”

“What?” Song Lijun sat up in shock, looking at her husband incredulously.

“What is Linlin trying to do?”

Feng Zhenhua sighed and patted her shoulder. “Linlin must be afraid that if we recognize Wei Yumeng, she’ll lose her inheritance rights.”

Feng Zhenhua could understand Catherine’s worries, but she couldn’t do such foolish things.

“I’ll talk to Linlin when she comes back tonight. Don’t worry too much.”

“You must speak to her kindly, don’t hurt the child’s feelings,” Song Lijun urged.

That evening, when Catherine returned, Feng Zhenhua was still sitting in the living room. Seeing him, Catherine politely greeted him.

“Dad, why aren’t you asleep yet?”

“I was worried because you weren’t back yet. Come, Linlin, come sit with your dad for a while.”

Feng Zhenhua patted the sofa beside him with a warm smile.

Catherine didn’t refuse and walked over, sitting next to Feng Zhenhua.

“Dad, you should be asleep at this hour. Your health isn’t good to begin with.”

“It’s fine, dear. I was just worried because you were out so late. By the way, how has it been at the company lately? Are you tired?”

When the company was mentioned, Catherine’s expression changed, and her eyes flickered. But she quickly smiled. “It’s good, the company is also doing well.”

“Silly girl, your dad is concerned about your health.” Feng Zhenhua gently patted her head, something he loved to do when she was young.

Thinking of her childhood, Catherine felt as if her heart had been pricked by a needle.

She had never imagined that her parents were not her biological parents.

“Linlin, your parents weren’t here during this time. You must have been frightened all alone. Actually, your parents were also very worried about you, afraid you would be scared by yourself.”

“You haven’t become parents yet, so you can’t understand. For parents, their children are everything, even if they are not their biological children.”

Feng Zhenhua said indirectly.

There were some things he couldn’t say directly, but he hoped Catherine would understand that they still loved her as much as ever. Even if she wasn’t their biological daughter, they felt closer to her than a biological daughter.

“Dad, why are you suddenly talking about this?” Catherine forced a smile.

Feng Zhenhua’s words made her gaze even colder. Was he hinting at something? Were they really going to acknowledge Wei Yumeng, their biological daughter?

“Isn’t your dad just concerned about his precious daughter working so late?” Feng Zhenhua’s smile remained gentle.

As they were chatting, Song Lijun came out from the kitchen with a bowl of soup.

“Come, come, Linlin, drink this bowl of soup quickly.”

“Mom, what kind of soup is this?” Catherine took the bowl and asked.

“This is something Mom specially learned from the aunt. I thought you must be tired these days, so I made it for you to replenish your energy,” Song Lijun said with a smile.

Catherine pretended to happily drink the soup, but her heart was already filled with suspicion. The words and attitudes of Feng Zhenhua and Song Lijun today made her very uneasy.

Or perhaps, were they secretly making plans to have Wei Yumeng inherit the company?

If that were the case, it would absolutely not be allowed. Why should the company be given to her just because she was their biological daughter? She would not allow it!

Looking at the two of them, a bold and malicious thought arose in her mind.

Since these two didn’t want her to inherit the fortune, then as long as they disappeared, no one would stand in her way.

The evil thought was like a seed. Once planted, it began to grow wildly, becoming uncontrollable afterward.
