Chapter 794 Save Me

The time traced back to the day the Feng couple boarded the plane. The weather was unusually clear, the sky as blue as the sea.

"Master, is the traffic ahead very congested?"

Song Lijun glanced at the sea of cars ahead, frowning anxiously, and looked at Feng Zhenhua beside her.

"Alas, there was a traffic accident ahead, so all the cars are stuck together!" The driver shook his head helplessly, gesturing ahead, and replied to Song Lijun's question.

Feng Zhenhua received Song Lijun's gaze. He looked down at his watch; the minute hand had already pointed to six, leaving them only half an hour before boarding.

"Driver, is there any other way to the airport? Our flight is almost too late."

Feng Zhenhua asked the driver, as they were in a hurry to catch their flight. If they missed this one, they would have to wait until evening to return.

Moreover, company business awaited their return. He had already scheduled a meeting with the partner company, and it would be impolite to break the appointment.

The driver wiped the sweat from his brow. He knew they were in a hurry to get to the airport, but they were stuck and wouldn't be able to get out for at least twenty minutes.

"Yes, yes, I remember a fork in the road that can take us to the airport, though it's a bit far..."

What the driver meant was that he wasn't sure if they could make it to the plane if they took another route.

Feng Zhenhua frowned, but being stuck here made it even less likely they would make their flight. It was better to try another route.

"Let's take that one. The road ahead doesn't look like it's moving. Let's try another way."

"Alright, I'll drive as fast as I can."

The driver nodded with a grin. He had already stated the facts. Since the guests agreed and gave the instruction, he would take another route.

The car turned amidst the neatly aligned rows of vehicles and headed towards the fork in the road to the left.

There were very few vehicles on this road, only occasional cars speeding past. The driver drove forward steadily, accelerating silently.

"Why are there so few people on this road?"

Feng Zhenhua looked around the deserted surroundings. The road seemed even wider, as if they were the only ones in the world.

"This is the direction towards the suburbs. If we drive a bit further and turn right, it's to the airport; turning left is out of the city."

With very few vehicles, the driver only needed to focus on driving forward. He patiently explained to Feng Zhenhua.

"I see. How much longer will it take us to reach the airport?"

Song Lijun understood what the driver meant. She replied politely and then asked the driver again.

The driver's face creased with difficulty. He glanced at the map and answered sheepishly.

"We should be there within half an hour... I mentioned earlier that this road is longer."

"Okay, we understand. It's alright."

Song Lijun noticed the driver's nervousness and said understandingly. Her gaze followed the driver's to the map. She took a careful look and then nodded slightly towards Feng Zhenhua.

They were indeed on their way to the airport, just on a more secluded route.

Feng Zhenhua felt relieved. He leaned against the car window, enjoying the scenery along the way.

There was no point in rushing. It was better to calm down and appreciate the view.

"Perhaps it's fate. Heaven is preventing us from going back!"

Song Lijun also seemed to have let go of some of her anxiety. She smiled slightly, thinking of Wei Yumeng.

To be honest, she was reluctant to leave their daughter. Seeing Wei Yumeng living happily now made her very pleased.

However, Song Lijun had thought more than once how wonderful it would have been if they hadn't been swapped at birth!

Their biological daughter was right in front of them, yet they couldn't acknowledge her.

"Perhaps," Feng Zhenhua's gaze softened. He reached out to hold Song Lijun's hand, as if to comfort her.

The road ahead stretched further and further. The weeds on both sides of the road grew taller and taller, a vast expanse of lush green stretching as far as the eye could see.

"Please wait a moment, sir and madam. We're not far from the airport after this bend."

Seeing the large bend ahead, the driver's heart filled with joy. He happily told the couple.

"Okay... Driver, please drive slowly and be careful."

Song Lijun recalled what she had said earlier, her expression turning a little somber. She nodded and said placidly.

Even though they were in a hurry for their flight, they still had to prioritize safety.

"Alright, I've been driving this car for seven or eight years, you can rest assured..."

Before the driver could finish his confident words, a person suddenly appeared lying in the middle of the road. He almost hit them!

The driver quickly slammed on the brakes. A shocked exclamation almost escaped his lips as the car stopped abruptly, emitting a piercing screech due to inertia.

The tires left deep marks on the road, and the entire car lurched forward!

Song Lijun and Feng Zhenhua were thrown forward, but their seatbelts held them firmly.

"What happened?"

Feng Zhenhua felt dizzy. He hurriedly checked on Song Lijun and asked sternly.

"There's... there's a dead person!"

The driver's face turned pale with fright. He trembled, pointing his finger forward, and shouted, quickly covering his eyes.

A dead person? In such a secluded place...

Feng Zhenhua's expression turned serious. He unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car to investigate.

Song Lijun followed him down. The two bravely walked to the front of the car. Indeed, a bloody middle-aged man lay sprawled in the middle of the road in broad daylight.

"This person... is covered in blood." Song Lijun frowned. The man lay in a pool of blood. He was wearing white clothes, which were clearly saturated with blood.

Blood was still flowing from beneath the middle-aged man. He seemed to have been injured recently, but such severe trauma...

"He's likely been shot," Feng Zhenhua said with certainty. His sharp eyes spotted a shell casing in the man's hand, likely kept as evidence.

"He seems to be alive."

Song Lijun carefully observed the middle-aged man's chest, which was still rising and falling slightly, indicating a heartbeat.

Feng Zhenhua nodded. He took a step forward, about to check the middle-aged man's breath.

As he moved closer, Feng Zhenhua clearly saw Wei Anguo's face. A distant memory was stirred, and Wei Anguo's face before him overlapped with a face from many years ago.

"It's him! Let's call an ambulance quickly!"

Feng Zhenhua frantically took out his phone from his pocket. Before he could dial, a blood-covered hand grabbed his phone!

Wei Anguo vaguely saw figures. As if grasping a lifeline, he suddenly reached out.

"Save... me..."

Feng Zhenhua's phone clattered to the ground!

"Zhenhua, his injuries are too severe. We must take him to the hospital first!"

Song Lijun watched Wei Anguo spitting blood and shook her head.
