Chapter 782 The Winds of Change

"Impossible, the probability of a plane crash is so low, how could it be the plane my parents were on!"

Catherine covered her head, still submerged in the immense shock. Even though she had vowed today to sever unnecessary emotions, and had complained that her parents only focused on Wei Yumeng and ignored her feelings...

However, the decades of shared feelings were real. Before she knew of Wei Yumeng's existence, she had also regarded the Feng couple as her parents!

Kai returned to Catherine's side and knelt on one knee. He looked at Catherine, who was having trouble accepting the reality, his eyes filled with pity.

He had always seen how Catherine interacted with the Feng couple. Decades were enough to leave a deep mark on a person's heart.

"Miss..."

Kai's voice was hoarse as he spoke, but he abruptly stopped. Accustomed to a life of swordplay, he was not skilled at comforting people.

Catherine was lost in her grief and could barely hear Kai's words. Tears, like pearls, streamed down her cheeks.

Kai frowned. He fumbled on himself, feeling helpless, then stopped and looked at the tissues on the desk in the distance, before turning back to Catherine.

The woman was sobbing uncontrollably, a stark contrast to her usual capable and composed demeanor.

Kai's heart trembled. He hesitated for half a second, then slowly reached out, awkwardly wiping away Catherine's tears, his large hand cupping her face.

His fingertips, accustomed to wielding weapons, were somewhat rough and scratchy. Feeling the touch on her skin, Catherine looked at Kai through her tears, the person who was always by her side.

"Kai..."

With tearful eyes, Catherine rarely called out Kai's name.

Kai stared blankly at Catherine's eyes, then noticed her ceaseless tears and let out a silent sigh.

"Miss, please do not be sad."

A direct statement, a direct request, not exactly comfort, but it expressed a sincere heart.

"I don't believe... that Mom and Dad really met their end, that they are really... no longer in this world..."

Hearing Kai's words, Catherine shook her head, her tears falling even more fiercely, like a broken faucet.

Kai felt a pang of panic. He hadn't expected such a simple sentence to make Catherine even more heartbroken.

He quickly wiped her tears, but in doing so, he smudged her makeup. The smeared eyeshadow transferred to his finger and then, with his movement, dotted Catherine's face.

"I'm sorry, Miss."

Kai apologized glumly. Looking at her still tear-streaked face, he felt a sense of heaviness.

He hadn't comforted her and had even ruined her makeup.

But the dead could not be resurrected, and he couldn't tell Catherine directly, as it would only hurt her more.

"Give me my phone, I want to call them."

Catherine sniffled. She finally remembered that a phone was a communication device and extended her hand to Kai.

Kai immediately took the phone from his pocket and gently placed it into Catherine's hand. He silently watched Catherine's stubborn expression.

A plane crash, the wreckage was still floating on the sea surface, how could a phone survive?

But this was Miss's last hope.

Catherine opened her contacts. "Dad" and "Mom" were at the top of the list. Grief surged like a tide. She shed a few more tears and, suppressing her pain, pressed the call button.

Ring, ring, ring... After a few beeps, a mechanical female voice sounded.

"The user you have dialed is switched off. Please try again later..."

Even though it was an expected outcome, Catherine still silently shed tears. Her fingers trembled slightly as she reached for Song Lijun's number, but her strength failed her.

She didn't want to hear another fruitless response!

Catherine suddenly stood up from the sofa, feeling dizzy. Her vision blurred, and her body swayed, almost making her fall back down.

Kai's arm shot out, supporting her waist. After Catherine regained her balance, he let go.

"Miss, where are you going?"

"Qin Nü Hai. I must find Mom and Dad. Even if only wreckage remains, I will bring it back!"

Catherine's face hardened. Her decisive nature drove her towards the door. She even picked up her phone and ordered someone to bring out the private jet.

"Miss, the sea area where the incident occurred at Qin Nü Hai is currently locked down. We are not authorized to fly there."

Kai hadn't anticipated Catherine's terrifying stubbornness. He stopped her, trying to persuade her logically.

This was the reality. Rescue personnel were still searching, and the plane needed to be transported back. During this time, they would not be allowed to enter that sea area.

Catherine stopped her advance. She became eerily quiet. She knew Kai's words made sense, but how could she leave her parents' remains there?

"Jin..." Catherine's voice was hoarse. Her eyes lit up as she remembered someone. She turned and grabbed Kai's clothes, "Jin, no matter where someone is hiding, he can easily find them! Where is he?"

"Jin is looking for Wei Anguo's whereabouts."

Seeing Catherine's excited expression, Kai let her pull his clothes and said slowly.

"Wei Anguo is not important now. Call them all back!" Catherine shook her head. She grabbed Kai's collar and said loudly.

"Yes, Miss." Kai replied, his brow furrowed. Even Jin wouldn't be able to find the Feng couple's location.

Firstly, due to the crash, the electronic equipment on the plane had been destroyed by the explosion. Secondly, the accident sea area would surely be searched by rescue personnel using electronic equipment.

If Jin intervened, he would easily be discovered and his true identity revealed...

Meanwhile, at the Wei family's residence.

All traces had been meticulously cleaned up, leaving no indication that anyone had been there.

Xiao Jin remained in the study, looking at the dark passage with a grim expression.

It was strange, the signal from Xiao Mu had disappeared!

That was a signal he had personally created. Only someone of equal skill and advanced technology could disable it.

Otherwise... Xiao Mu was dead, without a heartbeat, the signal had lost sufficient power and therefore disappeared.

"How can I explain this to the boss?"

Xiao Jin was troubled. He couldn't easily send Xiao Huo and the others again. Just as he was about to enter himself, Kai's message arrived.

A short text message, but it contained a lot of information that shocked Xiao Jin. He quickly called everyone else to retreat and head to Kaixuan Company together.

"Brother, what's going on? Why are we being called to the company?" Xiao Huo asked Xiao Jin in surprise.

Xiao Shui and Xiao Mu said nothing, their faces showing the same puzzled expression. To avoid exposure, they never appeared near Catherine.

Xiao Jin flipped through the news from that night. He put away his laptop and looked up at the sky with a heavy gaze.

"Feng Group... no, country Y is about to undergo a change."
