"Yes, Miss." Kai accepted the task, his gaze fixed on Catherine's serious expression. He silently made a resolve.
Catherine sat back in her office chair, resting her hand on her forehead as she began to meticulously recall every corner of the Feng family villa.
Logically, since the Feng clan's seal had last disappeared into her parents' possession, this important item should still be within the villa.
However, the villa was vast, offering numerous hiding places. Furthermore, she was unsure if there were any hidden mechanisms, and it might take a considerable amount of time to locate the Feng clan's seal.
"Kai, do you know what the Feng clan's seal looks like?" Catherine suddenly asked. She had never seen anything unusual in the study at home and had no idea what the seal actually was.
"Miss, only members of the Feng family and those within the Feng corporation have seen the seal. Outsiders would not know."
This stumped Kai. He had only heard rumors and had never seen the Feng clan's seal himself.
Such a unique and precious seal would likely only have been seen by those involved in the power struggle.
"It should just be an ordinary seal. Focus your search on the study at home. I remember there's a cabinet specifically for storing seals."
Catherine did not intend to delve too deeply. A seal, by definition, was an imprint, and there were many in the study.
Since finding the Feng clan's seal might be a lengthy process, she decided to pursue both avenues simultaneously and not solely focus on the seal.
There was also the will...
Catherine's expression darkened. During her years at home, she had never seen her parents summon a lawyer.
However, she couldn't guarantee that her parents hadn't already engaged a lawyer for notarization elsewhere, having prepared the will in advance.
"Understood, Miss." Kai replied.
Catherine looked at Kai, her eyes darting around. The matter of the will involved an area she was not proficient in. If Kai was handling the Feng clan's seal, then for the will, she needed to find...
"Your work here is done. You can go, and bring Jin in on your way out."
Catherine remembered she still had a clever strategist by her side and summoned him for a private conversation.
Kai instinctively furrowed his brow. This was the second time their Miss had exceptionally spoken to one of her members alone. Was there something he couldn't handle?
"Yes, Miss."
Kai suppressed his inexplicable emotions and walked out of the office. His gaze, cold and sharp, fell upon Jin, who was waiting in the anteroom.
"Cough, cough, cough... What is it, boss?"
Jin looked up and was instantly startled by Kai's gaze, fumbling the cup in his hand. He coughed.
"The Miss wants to see you." Kai stated concisely, dropping the words before turning away with a flick of his sleeve. He still had tasks assigned by Catherine to attend to.
"Boss, didn't the Miss want you to stay nearby?"
Jin quickly understood Kai's look and found it amusing. He shouted back at Kai.
Kai did not turn to acknowledge him, merely waved his hand. Several throwing knives, gleaming with a cold white light, whizzed down and embedded themselves precisely at Jin's feet, forming a neat row.
Jin flinched, imagining how painful it would be if those knives had landed on his neck.
He abandoned his playful demeanor and quickly pushed open the office door, standing face-to-face with Catherine.
Jin discreetly glanced towards the computer and then observed Catherine's expression, finally raising an eyebrow.
The eldest daughter of the Feng corporation was clearly quite angered. It seemed the meeting had not gone well and had concluded in failure.
It was understandable. The Feng corporation held a significant position in Country Y, and even outsiders scrambled to get a piece of it. This was to say nothing of the cunning schemers within.
"Miss, what did you call me for?"
The atmosphere in the office was heavy. Jin broke the silence, asking Catherine, who had her back to him.
Catherine snapped back to attention, realizing Jin had entered. She turned her office chair to face him.
"Jin, have you heard of Lawyer Lu Yuran?"
Catherine rested her hands on the desk. Her phone lay beside her, displaying personal information about Lu Yuran.
Manager Lai had privately informed her via text that her parents had a dedicated lawyer, and no one knew he was the renowned Lu Yuran.
The Feng couple had kept the information very well hidden. No one knew that Lu Yuran, who never interfered in the struggles of wealthy families, was one of the Feng couple's lawyers.
Manager Lai was a member of the old guard who leaned towards her side. He had once been saved by Feng Zhenhua, and therefore, he only recognized the bloodline of the Feng couple. Currently, only Catherine remained of the Feng family.
However, Manager Lai would probably never have imagined that Catherine was not of the Feng couple's bloodline, and the true Feng heiress was someone else entirely.
"Lu Yuran, a star lawyer, has never lost a lawsuit, dislikes getting involved in family disputes, a household name, of course, I've heard of him."
Jin smiled, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses. A flicker of an unknown emotion crossed his eyes.
Lu Yuran was a target of bounty from several factions, but more influential figures preferred to protect him.
Who wouldn't want such an undefeated star lawyer on their side?
However, it was surprising that Catherine would mention Lu Yuran. Had he also become entangled in the Feng corporation's power struggle?
"Someone told me that if my parents left a will, there's a high probability it's with Lawyer Lu Yuran."
Catherine glanced at Jin. People like them should know more about Lu Yuran than she did, right?
"Lu Yuran never participates in the turmoil of wealthy families. Miss, are you sure the information is reliable?" Jin voiced his doubt. Such news, if it spread, would likely cause a massive stir.
If the Feng couple were still alive, Lu Yuran would have been protected by the Fengs, and no one would dare touch him. But times had changed.
Now, other opportunistic factions would be even more brazen in trying to recruit Lu Yuran. It would be impossible for him to maintain his integrity.
"I'm not sure either. After all, my parents left too suddenly and didn't leave me any clues."
Catherine sighed, feigning distress. In reality, she understood.
She was not of the Feng bloodline. Her parents had rushed to Pengcheng this time precisely to bring Wei Yumeng back to acknowledge her ancestors and then inherit the Feng corporation.
That's why they had always remained tight-lipped about the succession of the Feng corporation to her, as they had never intended for her to inherit it.
"I called you here to ask, based on your understanding, would it be best for me to approach Lawyer Lu Yuran directly, or to send someone..."
Catherine's expression turned cold. She made a gesture to her neck.
Jin understood Catherine's meaning and raised an eyebrow. The Miss was truly ruthless!
"From what I know, Lu Yuran dislikes power struggles among wealthy families. However, since he is involved in the Feng corporation's affairs, and with the unfortunate passing of your parents, Lu Yuran has no reason not to tell you."
