Chapter 846 Excessive Attention

Fang Xun entered Zhan Mohan's office with the information he had gathered.

"Mr. Zhan, here is the man's profile and his family's home address." wap.kanshu伍.net

Zhan Mohan took it. The photo on it was of the person they had captured, with the name Wang Hua written next to it.

He then remembered that although they had been interrogating Wang Hua, they had never asked for his name.

"Have the background of Wang Hua's family been checked?"

Fang Xun nodded. "They are just an ordinary family. His parents work in a factory, and he has two younger brothers."

Zhan Mohan casually flipped through the documents and finally found something that caught his attention.

It seemed their family owed a lot of money due to the youngest son's illness, which could become a handle for the mastermind to control Wang Hua.

"Go and investigate their youngest son, and try to get some information directly from Wang Hua's parents."

Fang Xun nodded and took the documents to carry out the task.

"By the way," Zhan Mohan suddenly remembered, "what's the latest situation with Katherine?"

"She spends most of her time at home. She hasn't even left the house in the last couple of days."

Zhan Mohan frowned slightly. Something felt wrong. If Katherine just wanted to be a good girl, she wouldn't stay home all the time. This wasn't being a good girl; it was being a shut-in.

But this also suggested that Katherine might not be involved in this matter. Yet, was she truly uninvolved?

Seeing that Zhan Mohan had no further instructions, Fang Xun left the office.

He dedicated the entire afternoon to the task, as searching for two locations was not easy.

Finally, Fang Xun found Wang Hua's family in an old residential area that looked decades old.

"Hello, are you Wang Hua's father?"

Fang Xun had actually seen a photo of this father.

"May I ask who you are?"

"I'm a friend of Wang Hua. I haven't seen him for a while, so I was a bit worried."

Fang Xun clearly saw a hint of evasion in Wang's father's eyes.

"Uncle, do you know where he's been recently?"

"I don't know. He hasn't been home for a long time. I haven't seen him at all this year." Wang's father's voice became rushed, clearly wanting to end the conversation.

Fang Xun continued, "He borrowed money from us once, saying it was for his brother's medical treatment. Has he really not been back at all?"

Wang's father was slightly startled at first, then hastily said, "You must have the wrong person. Our son is fine, and no one is sick. Are you sure you've come to the right place?"

"But it's the same name, and you just happened to come to the wrong place? Isn't that strange?"

Wang's father clenched his fists. He knew he couldn't out-argue this young man, so he reached out and began to usher Fang Xun out. "Young man, if you continue to pester me, don't blame me for being rude."

Seeing that Wang's father had picked up a broom and looked serious, Fang Xun raised his hands in surrender.

"Alright, alright, I'm leaving now. Sorry to have bothered you."

Fang Xun was shut out. It was clear that Wang's father's attitude was strange. He seemed to be deliberately withholding any information about Wang Hua.

Based on Fang Xun's investigation, Wang Hua had always lived with his family, yet Wang's father claimed he hadn't seen him for a long time. This was clearly an attempt to distance the family from Wang Hua.

Conversely, it wasn't hard to infer what Wang Hua was doing. The Wang family, or at least Wang's father, knew what he was doing, hence the deliberate evasiveness.

Fang Xun had initially planned to offer help to the Wang family after his investigation, ensuring their safety and perhaps using it as leverage to get clues from Wang Hua. But now, if the Wang family was uncooperative, it would be difficult. He could only go and check on Wang Hua's brother.

Hearing Fang Xun's report, Zhan Mohan had a general idea.

Everything Wang Hua was doing was likely for his sick younger brother, requiring a lot of money.

And the Wang family might know what Wang Hua was doing, but due to the mastermind's control, they couldn't cooperate with him.

He had initially suspected Katherine of being involved, but now all the clues couldn't prove any of Katherine's actions. So, it was still hard to say whether she was involved or not.

Zhan Mohan felt a headache coming on. This matter seemed more troublesome than he had imagined. If he wanted the Wang family to cooperate now, he would have to approach the younger son. Perhaps offering some medical assistance would change the Wang family's perception of them.

No matter the cost this time, Zhan Mohan just wanted to find the person behind everything. He would not allow the person who hurt Wei Yumeng to get away with it.

Even now, when he unconsciously recalled those events, he still felt a pang of fear. If they hadn't discovered the problem, Wei Yumeng might still be confined in a mental institution.

"How is the search for Dr. Wang going?"

"We found his whereabouts in his hometown. He arrived there a couple of days ago, and I think we can bring him back soon."

Zhan Mohan nodded. As long as all the involved parties were present, he would eventually figure out who was pulling the strings.

Although Song Lijun no longer personally visited Wei Yumeng, she still called frequently to inquire about her condition. While she sometimes felt she was being too biased, she thought it was a special situation that called for special treatment and didn't see anything wrong with it.

Katherine still didn't leave the house today, only making an appearance at breakfast.

Song Lijun began to worry. At first, when she saw Katherine in this state, she thought she was just in a bad mood. But now, she felt that Katherine's condition had not improved; instead, it had worsened.

Often, when Song Lijun called Katherine's name, she wouldn't react for a long time. Even when Song Lijun deliberately tried to attract her attention with things she was interested in, she remained unresponsive.

Katherine often stayed alone on the balcony, sighing occasionally, and sometimes appearing restless.

But in reality, nothing had happened to Katherine at home.

Song Lijun, overly worried, told Feng Zhenhua about Katherine's condition.

"This child stays at home all day. If something is wrong, it can only be related to the family. Have you had any conflicts with her recently?" Feng Zhenhua hit the nail on the head.

Song Lijun then remembered her arguments with Katherine, caused by her excessive concern for Wei Yumeng, which had made Katherine dissatisfied.
