Chapter 863 Even if I Said Too Much

Catherine looked at Wei Yumeng in disbelief. "Why is it you again? Why are you always opposing me? What does you becoming CEO have to do with me?"

Wei Yumeng took a deep breath. "Yes, you becoming CEO doesn't have much to do with me, but I don't think everyone here wants someone with malicious intentions, someone who would even harm others, to be in a management position, do they?"

Feng Zhenhua's face darkened. Wei Yumeng barging into the meeting room like this, at such a juncture, was a severe blow to his authority.

"Mrs. Zhan, we can discuss any issues privately."

Zhao Li found the situation even more captivating. He always thrived on chaos, and seeing the Feng family in such a predicament was something he wanted to witness to the end.

"Mr. Feng, based on what Mrs. Zhan just said, this matter might influence our judgment. Therefore, let Mrs. Zhan clarify things in front of us."

Others chimed in, "Since it concerns the company, we do indeed need to know what has happened."

Wei Yumeng then solemnly addressed everyone else. "I can guarantee with my integrity that everything I say is true, and it has even been verified."

Catherine glared at Wei Yumeng hatefully. "I know you've always disliked me, but do you have to go this far? Don't you know what kind of occasion this is?"

"I am aware. If you hadn't done those disgusting things, why would I have come here?"

Wei Yumeng spoke, then ignored Catherine and turned to the others. "A few days ago, my child was diagnosed with food poisoning, and now we have the results of our investigation into the food."

She placed the lab report on the table. "This is our lab report. It clearly states that the chicken soup Catherine sent us contained poisonous ingredients, and she was the one who fed the soup to my daughter."

Catherine clenched her fists. "Don't slander me. Just because the soup is toxic, you assume I did it? Furthermore, I never gave your daughter any chicken soup."

Catherine's face had turned pale. With the lab report out, she couldn't deny the soup was poisoned. She could only vehemently deny feeding it to Zhan Shiqing, as she had previously believed Wei Yumeng couldn't prove that, which was why she hadn't left with Zhan Mohan earlier.

Wei Yumeng looked at Catherine with anger, while Catherine stiffened her resolve, confronting Wei Yumeng.

Zhan Mohan returned home only to find that Wei Yumeng, who should have been there, was absent.

"Dad," Zhan Jinzhi said to Zhan Mohan, "Mom went to the study earlier, took something, and then left in a huff."

Zhan Mohan paused slightly. He went to the study and indeed found the lab report missing. He had originally placed it in the drawer to prevent Wei Yumeng from discovering it so quickly, but he hadn't expected her to find it.

He had planned to prepare everything to catch Catherine red-handed, but it seemed he had to advance his plans.

He took out his phone and called Fang Xun. "Fang Xun, bring Wang Hua, Kai, and the doctors from the hospital. We're going to settle all accounts."

Feng Zhenhua picked up the lab report and examined it carefully. He knew that Song Lijun had been consistently sending chicken soup to Wei Yumeng, so if there was an issue with the soup, he would never suspect Song Lijun.

Feng Zhenhua gripped the lab report tightly. Indeed, Catherine was the most suspicious person at this moment.

"Linlin, did you do this?"

Catherine's eyes welled up with tears. "Dad, you don't believe me either? I never did it! That lab report might be fabricated by them, just to spite me!"

She looked at Wei Yumeng. "I know I've wronged you many times in the past, but do you have to go this far? Can you forgive me? I promise I won't do such things again."

Her demeanor was as if she were pleading with Wei Yumeng, who was relentlessly pursuing her, to let her go.

Wasn't twisting facts and distorting truth her forte?

Qian Yuhua also couldn't bear to watch. "Mrs. Zhan, if this is merely a private matter between you two, please don't continue here."

"Private matter?" A cold voice suddenly cut through the air. "Then let me tell you something that is truly relevant to all of you."

The person who arrived was Zhan Mohan. He calmly walked to Wei Yumeng's side.

"Mr. Feng, do you know why those shareholders suddenly proposed Catherine as CEO today?"

Feng Zhenhua had been somewhat surprised earlier but hadn't thought too deeply. However, now that Zhan Mohan mentioned it, it indicated there was definitely something fishy going on behind the scenes.

"You mean...?"

"This all began with Catherine's depression."

As Zhan Mohan spoke, a doctor entered from outside the door.

"H-hello everyone." This doctor had likely never seen so many influential people in his life.

Zhan Mohan gave him a chilling look. The doctor shivered slightly and then slowly began to speak.

"Actually, this lady's depression is fake. She never suffered from depression. Before she came to my hospital, a young man gave me a sum of money and asked me to issue a depression diagnosis for Miss Catherine."

Feng Zhenhua was stunned. He hadn't expected Catherine to have planned this so far in advance.

"You're lying! Why would I do that?" Catherine immediately retorted.

Wei Yumeng thought for a moment. "I recall when I visited you before, Mrs. Feng mentioned that the doctor had advised her to indulge your wishes and avoid upsetting you, otherwise you would have an episode."

"So what?"

Wei Yumeng looked at Feng Zhenhua. "Mr. Feng, when the decision was being made earlier, did you not consider her condition, which led you to compromise and agree?"

Feng Zhenhua remained silent. He had indeed thought that way. It wasn't just this instance; even letting her take over projects was a concession made with her condition in mind.

And these two instances had undoubtedly become crucial steps for her to ascend to the position of CEO.

Without the depression diagnosis, he would never have so easily allowed Catherine to be involved in work, let alone have the opportunity to become a member of the shareholders' meeting.

The others exchanged glances. They could guess the answer from Feng Zhenhua's grim expression.

While others might find the reason for Catherine's involvement in work somewhat laughable, for parents, nothing was more important than their child's health.

"I believe everyone has their answer regarding this matter," Zhan Mohan said coldly. "As for who recommended Catherine earlier and what deals they made with her, I don't need to elaborate further."
