Since Min Mo had already stated his stance, the collaboration was naturally going to proceed. To find a breakthrough with Ji Qun, they at least had to meet him first and then decide what to do next.
From Min Mo, they learned that Ji Qun was timid and fearful in his youth and remained so even now, despite engaging in high-risk business.
However, he had a persistent weakness for women. In his youth, he was notorious for his promiscuity, and even in middle age, he still frequented places of pleasure, with Ye Zong Hui being his favorite haunt.
Therefore, Zhan Mo Han decided to go to Ye Zong Hui to meet Ji Qun and see just how much of a paper tiger he was.
That evening, Zhan Mo Han and his brother, along with some men, went to Ye Zong Hui, a place Ji Qun was known to frequent. They heard he spent eight out of ten nights there, so the chances of running into him were quite high.
As expected, he was there that day. Perhaps due to his wealth, though he was middle-aged, he always had many hostesses accompanying him, creating a scene that was quite hard to stomach.
When Zhan Mo Han and his group arrived, Ji Qun was already drunk. In his state, he could probably only distinguish between men and women, not recognize faces.
Zhan Mo Han asked the manager to call all the hostesses away. As Ji Qun staggered towards the door, still swaying, he was blocked by Zhan Mo Han.
Not recognizing him, he shouted, "Who are you? How dare you disturb me? Do you know who I am? Get lost and call those beauties back."
The alcohol fumes emanating from his mouth were enough to choke someone. Zhan Mo Han held his nose in disgust and shoved him forcefully into the room.
Fang Xun signaled to the men behind him. Several burly bodyguards immediately surged into the private room and pushed Ji Qun onto the sofa. He was still not sober and only thought that the person in front of him must be tired of living.
He grabbed a wine bottle from the table, smashed it with a forceful strike, and pointed the broken end at Fang Xun. "If you know what's good for you, make these people let me go, or you'll all regret it!"
Seeing this, Fang Xun advanced instead of retreating and landed a heavy punch on him. "Oh really? You've scared me to death."
After taking a punch, Ji Qun immediately seemed to wilt. Clutching his stomach, his face contorted in pain. "Young man, I have no quarrel with you. If you have any grievances, there's no need for this. We can talk things out."
This statement made Zhan Yi Chen unable to resist laughing. He walked up to Ji Qun and, with utter disdain, patted his cheek. "Everyone says you're all bluster and no substance, and I didn't expect it to be this bad. You coward, why are you acting so tough?"
Ji Qun wasn't angry at being disrespected by a younger man. Instead, he looked at them obsequiously. "I'm just putting on a show. Young man, you're magnanimous, don't hold it against me. Just tell me what you want. No matter how much money you ask for, I can give it to you, as long as you don't lay a hand on me. We can discuss anything."
Seeing his lack of backbone, Zhan Yi Chen lost any interest in intimidating him. He waved his hand, signaling the men holding him to let go. After all, he was so timid that even if they gave him a hundred chances to escape, he wouldn't dare.
Ji Qun sat up, still rubbing his stomach, but with a fawning smile on his face. "What do you two want to talk to me about?"
Zhan Mo Han was now somewhat curious about him. "Isn't your son very capable overseas? Why don't you leverage his influence as a father?"
Ji Qun just chuckled at this. "I'm a very easy-going person, definitely not someone who bullies others with influence."
This excuse might fool an idiot, but Zhan Mo Han glanced at Fang Xu, signaling him to investigate the father-son relationship between Ji Qun and Ji Tong, suspecting that things were not as simple as they seemed.
Having witnessed Ji Qun's timid nature, Zhan Mo Han stood up. "We do have something to discuss with you, but not here. Let's go somewhere else to talk properly."
Two bodyguards, one on each side, grabbed Ji Qun's arms and led him out. He naturally resisted, his feet dragging and scraping on the floor, almost being dragged along. Seeing that this wasn't working, he began to plead with Zhan Mo Han again. "Young man, what can't be discussed here? This place looks fine to me. We have drinks too, let's talk over a drink, and it'll all be on my tab."
It seemed he wasn't entirely foolish and knew that trouble was coming, hence his reluctance to leave. However, what could be learned in this private room was far less than what could be extracted in an interrogation room. For someone as timid as him, the most effective way to get anything was through intimidation.
Ji Qun was then put into the car, still muttering incessantly. With so many ill-intentioned people around, he didn't dare to resist.
Seeing his state, and comparing him to his two sons, Zhan Yi Chen couldn't help but marvel. "So sons aren't always like their fathers. Ji Qun, let me kindly remind you, you should bring bodyguards next time you come to such places."
After getting into the car, Ji Qun dared not say another word. He knew that these people were taking him somewhere unpleasant. The less he spoke now, the less trouble he would face when they arrived.
When it came to avoiding pain, he was quite astute.
On the way, seeing his silence, Zhan Mo Han, uncharacteristically, asked him, "You've been in the car for a while now, do you know who I am?"
Ji Qun shook his head. "I'm just an old man. I don't recognize you young people."
"My surname is Zhan, and I'm an old friend of your son."
Upon hearing the surname Zhan and that he knew Ji Tong, Ji Qun immediately understood. "You're Zhan Mo Han?"
Zhan Mo Han merely smiled lightly, not answering, but this was as good as an admission. This made Ji Qun panic. "Mr. Zhan, although our families had some past grievances, that was when Ji Tong was young and foolish. He's paid the price. If you're still not satisfied, then go find him. It's useless to find me."
A father who could say such a thing could not be simply dismissed as timid and fearful. It indicated that their father-son relationship was likely strained. Even before anything had happened, he was already trying to distance himself completely, even going so far as to push his own son forward.
This only made Zhan Mo Han more interested in their father-son relationship.
He glanced at Ji Qun's cowardly demeanor, then turned away. "No, I only want to talk to you today. As the saying goes, 'The fault of the son is the fault of the father.' Your son did something that harmed my wife recently. I will, of course, hold you, the father, accountable for this."
His words successfully made Ji Qun's face turn a shade paler. "Mr. Zhan, he was young and foolish. You should find him."
