Chapter 773 The Forbidden Truth of My Origins

"Okay..." Catherine's entire body was tense as she took a deep breath and said nonchalantly, "There's still work to do at the company, I'm heading back now."

"Alright, be careful on your way," Feng Zhenhua didn't notice Catherine's troubled expression. He hurriedly agreed, his entire focus on Song Lijun.

Catherine watched Song Lijun silently, who was like a white rose in a greenhouse, cherished by Feng Zhenhua, much like Wei Yumeng.

These two truly were mother and daughter.

Catherine scoffed inwardly. Before leaving, she cast one last lingering glance at the Feng couple and left without looking back.

Today, here, she severed all emotional ties in her heart. No feeling could compare to the Feng Group!

Once she successfully obtained everything she was entitled to, she would deal with the Zhan family and Wei Yumeng accordingly.

Catherine got into the car. The private driver, astute in reading her mood, remained silent and drove directly towards the company.

"After seeing them leave at two in the afternoon, you don't need to track them anymore. Just withdraw."

Catherine took out her phone and sent a message with a few taps. She secretly watched the receding hotel behind her, a triumphant smirk gracing her lips.

She had already arranged for people to cause significant trouble for the group. When her parents returned to Country Y, they would be swamped with work, and this major threat would be resolved smoothly.

A sinister expression crossed Catherine's face. Only Wei Anguo remained to be dealt with. More critically, he might be hiding evidence of Wei Yumeng's true parentage!

Simply disposing of him wouldn't be enough…

Kaixuan Company had arrived. The private driver respectfully opened the car door. Catherine strode towards the elevator in her high heels.

She glanced at her phone and made a direct call.

The dial tone rang for a long time, finally replaced by a cold, automated female voice.

"Hello, the number you have dialed is powered off. Please try again later..."

Catherine frowned irritably. Just then, the elevator doors opened.

A man with a tall, straight posture stood at his office door. He looked up, his gaze meeting Catherine's.

Catherine curled her lips mockingly. She hung up the phone, understanding dawning on her, and quickly walked up to the man, raising her hand to slap him across the face.

The crisp sound of the slap echoed through the silent corridor, instantly freezing the atmosphere.

This floor housed only Catherine's office. Before coming, she had instructed that the president's office be on a separate floor and that no one be allowed up without her permission.

The only person who could come and go freely was the man before her: Kai.

"Why didn't you answer my call?"

Catherine's tone was accusatory. Kai opened the office door, and she walked in unbidden, sitting on the comfortable office chair.

It seemed only in front of Kai could she shed all pretense and vent her anger without restraint.

"My phone battery died and it turned off, so I came directly to find you, Miss."

Kai calmly explained the reason. Accustomed to combat, her strength was as insignificant as an ant's, and he felt no pain.

"Are you saying I should praise you?"

Catherine's temper was high today. She chuckled and suddenly stood up.

"No."

Kai replied without a hint of emotion, looking up at Catherine and clenching his fists.

She seemed angry.

Catherine walked step by step towards Kai. The sound of her high heels against the marble floor struck Kai's heart with each step.

The woman stopped just in front of him, a faint fragrance wafting through the air. Catherine reached out, her fingers resting on Kai's jaw, and gently lifted it.

Kai met her mesmerizing gaze. His Adam's apple involuntarily bobbed. Before his eyes could betray him, he averted his gaze.

"Among my people, you are the only one with black eyes like mine," Catherine suddenly said, releasing Kai and leaning back against the desk.

Back in Country Y, she had noticed it from a young age.

Only her parents and she had black eyes in the Feng family; others did not. Although she learned the reason later, she had always been indifferent to people, considering them not her kind.

Therefore, she had been overly dependent on the Feng couple. When she accidentally discovered the truth of her parentage, she was devastated and fell into a coma for three days and three nights.

"I am honored, Miss."

Kai paused before speaking.

He would never forget until his death that it was for this reason they met. Apart from the Feng couple, only he could be close to her.

Catherine was satisfied with Kai's answer, her anger dissipating. She skipped the topic and went to the coffee machine, pouring two cups.

"Thank you, Miss."

Catherine handed him a cup of coffee. Kai accepted it, looking flattered. He glanced at the coffee machine Catherine treasured, which she never shared with anyone.

"Regarding Wei Anguo, have them make their move today."

Catherine wasn't concerned with Kai's emotions. The rich aroma of coffee filled the air. She closed her eyes, enjoying the embrace of the coffee's scent, and took a sip before speaking slowly.

"Yes, Miss." Kai replied concisely. His one-ninety-meter frame holding a small coffee cup looked somewhat comical.

Catherine frowned. She examined Kai closely, from head to toe, and then from toe to head.

Kai felt somewhat uncomfortable under Catherine's overly scrutinizing gaze. His duty prevented him from moving.

If the other five men saw Kai in such a predicament, they would surely be astonished.

"Didn't I tell you not to call me 'Miss' anymore?"

Catherine spoke after a long pause. Since learning her true identity, she had become exceptionally sensitive, always fearing she would be sent back to her biological parents in some unknown place the next second.

She especially disliked being called 'Miss'. At that time, Catherine believed that once exposed, she would become a laughingstock in Country Y's social circles and earn the nickname "Fake Miss."

As a young child, Catherine lived in constant anxiety. Eventually, unable to bear the psychological pressure, she secretly confided this secret to Kai.

"In my heart, you will always be my Miss."

Kai said earnestly to Catherine, his black eyes holding a peculiar firmness.

This not only represented his acknowledgment of Catherine but also served as a constant reminder to him not to overstep the boundaries between them.

"As you wish." Catherine didn't dwell on it; she was no longer the fragile little girl she once was. Catherine put down her coffee cup, remembering the matter that weighed on her mind.

"Oh, right. Wei Anguo seems to have evidence of Wei Yumeng's parentage. Find it and give it to me. Make sure you find it!"

A fierce glint flashed in Catherine's eyes. She carefully instructed Kai, picking up her coffee cup and then putting it down again.

This was a sign of her nervousness. Although Catherine was adept in the workplace, when it came to the sensitive topic of her origins, she always became overly anxious.
