Chapter 882 I Have Always Believed

Although Lu Fang's matter had been resolved, Wei Yumeng was well aware that while she had sorted everything out for Zhan Jinzhi at school, she could not possibly stay with him all the time. If Lu Fang sought revenge later, it would be up to Zhan Jinzhi to deal with it.

"Jin Zhi, how has school been lately?"

Zhan Jinzhi replied obediently, "Everything is fine. Lu Fang was disciplined and suspended."

This was something Wei Yumeng hadn't expected. She had only wanted Lu Fang to apologize to everyone, hoping the matter would end after that. She hadn't anticipated it would escalate to expulsion.

However, she also breathed a sigh of relief, knowing at least she wouldn't have to worry about Lu Fang deliberately causing trouble for Zhan Jinzhi.

Zhan Jinzhi had finished his homework and was idly playing on his phone. Wei Yumeng never minded this; as long as he completed his tasks, he was free to do as he pleased.

But then, Zhan Jinzhi's hand froze, and his demeanor turned peculiar.

Wei Yumeng noticed the change. "What's wrong?" she asked.

As she spoke, she instinctively glanced at Zhan Jinzhi's phone, but he quickly hid it behind his back.

Just then, Zhan Shiqing also emerged from the room, holding her phone and looking at Wei Yumeng with a strange expression.

"Mom..." she began, but Zhan Jinzhi rushed over and covered her mouth.

Seeing Zhan Jinzhi's reaction, Zhan Shiqing immediately understood and turned to Wei Yumeng again.

"Mom, is there anything to eat? I'm hungry."

Wei Yumeng's attention was successfully diverted. "I think there's still some fruit we bought. I'll go get it for you."

Zhan Jinzhi secretly asked Zhan Shiqing, "Did you see it too?"

Zhan Shiqing nodded. "That video is going viral right now. It's everywhere."

Zhan Jinzhi's expression darkened. He genuinely didn't want Wei Yumeng to see the video, especially after she had finally overcome that difficult period.

Wei Yumeng wasn't entirely unaware, but the two children's secretive behavior made it impossible for her to see anything easily. So, she chose to ignore it. After all, she understood them well enough not to believe they would do anything out of line.

Later that night, lying in bed, Wei Yumeng took out her phone, intending to see what had caused the children's reactions.

However, a headline video caught her attention.

"Wealthy Wife Revealed to Be Mentally Unstable; Videos from Psychiatric Hospital Leaked."

Wei Yumeng seemed to have a premonition about the video's content, yet she clicked on it.

Indeed, the video was exactly as she suspected. The so-called wealthy wife in the video was none other than herself.

Judging by the video's perspective, it appeared to be from a surveillance camera, clearly only showing public areas. But that was enough for gossipmongers to have a field day.

"Is this true? That Mr. Zhan married a lunatic?"

"Unbelievable. He should divorce her in this situation. Mr. Zhan is such an excellent man; how can he be held back by a woman like this?"

"She's not even attractive. How did she become Mr. Zhan's wife?"

Wei Yumeng knew that Zhan Mohan was a public figure who frequently made headlines, but she hadn't realized so many people would side with him, which also meant how many people disdained her as Mrs. Zhan.

Watching the video, Wei Yumeng bit her lip. She didn't know if Catherine had released the video, but it clearly indicated the other party's deep malice.

The replaying of these scenes brought back memories of being forcibly confined in the psychiatric hospital.

Although she wasn't mentally ill, that place and that period had undoubtedly become her psychological trauma.

After finishing the video, Wei Yumeng immediately turned off her phone, forcing herself not to recall those dreadful memories.

"It's all over. It's all over."

Zhan Mohan entered after showering and saw Wei Yumeng's distressed expression.

"Yumeng, what's wrong?"

Wei Yumeng shook her head. "Nothing. Don't worry."

Zhan Mohan lay down beside her. "You don't look like everything's fine."

Wei Yumeng hesitated, then finally handed her phone to Zhan Mohan.

As expected, upon seeing the video, Zhan Mohan's eyes filled with anger. "It seems Catherine's plan to hire someone failed, so she's resorting to this method to tarnish your reputation."

Even if they suspected Catherine, this incident was similar to previous ones. Even knowing Catherine was behind it, they had no way to prove it.

Zhan Mohan picked up his phone, intending to have Fang Xun handle the matter immediately, but Wei Yumeng saw his action and reached out to stop him.

"Forget it. It's not a big deal. We can deal with it tomorrow."

Zhan Mohan frowned, clearly not sharing her sentiment.

Wei Yumeng then actively hugged him, forcibly pulling him to sleep with her.

Wei Yumeng had a dream. She dreamt she was back in the intensive care ward of the psychiatric hospital, surrounded by white walls, with no windows and no doors.

She was tied up in a corner, completely unable to move, filled only with despair.

"You're a lunatic. There's no point in even living."

"It's unbelievable. In this situation, he should divorce her. Mr. Zhan is such an excellent man; how can he be held back by a woman like this?"

"Lunatic, stay away from me!"

The voices that had haunted her for so long reappeared, and she wanted to escape, to explain.

But she couldn't make a sound, nor could she move.

"No, I'm not a lunatic. I'm better now. That was all in the past. It's all over."

Wei Yumeng told herself repeatedly, but the voices showed no signs of stopping.

"Yumeng!"

Zhan Mohan looked at Wei Yumeng with concern. Her eyes were tightly shut, and she kept muttering, "I'm not a lunatic."

"Wake up! Look at me!"

Finally, Wei Yumeng opened her eyes, only to see Zhan Mohan's worried gaze.

"Mohan... what happened just now?"

Wei Yumeng felt drenched in cold sweat but couldn't recall anything from her dream.

"It's nothing. You just had a nightmare," Zhan Mohan said, holding her tightly.

Wei Yumeng felt that since Zhan Mohan was so worried, the nightmare must have been significant, yet she couldn't remember any of it.

Zhan Mohan held Wei Yumeng and whispered in her ear, "That's all in the past. I'll always be by your side and won't let you experience anything like that again. Trust me."

Wei Yumeng nodded and hugged Zhan Mohan back. "Of course, I trust you. I always have."
