Chapter 930 No Place for Me

Wei Yumeng received a call from Song Lijun before she finished work.

"Yumeng, am I disturbing you at work by calling now?"

Wei Yumeng said quickly, "It's fine, I'm not busy right now."

Song Lijun then said with relief, "Actually, I've been discharged from the hospital today, so I'd like to formally host you all at home. You know, after so many years, I haven't cooked a meal for you all as a mother, so I hope your whole family can come."

"Aunt Song, why didn't you tell me you were discharged? I would have come to pick you up."

Song Lijun smiled and said, "You are all so busy with work, how could I bother you? Besides, I wasn't seriously injured, I could manage on my own."

Wei Yumeng asked with some concern, "Then how is Uncle Feng doing?"

"He still needs to be observed in the hospital for a while, but there are no major issues now. If you want to pick him up, you can do so when he's discharged." Song Lijun paused and then said, "And it was his idea for me to host you."

"Okay, I understand. I'll inform Mo Han in a moment, and we will definitely come."

Song Lijun didn't forget to add, "Be sure to bring the children to see me too."

Wei Yumeng nodded, "Definitely."

The two elders didn't know about Zhan Jinzhi's fall before. Fortunately, the child had recovered and been discharged, otherwise, it would have worried them.

To keep her appointment today, Wei Yumeng specifically finished all her work half an hour early so she could arrive at the Feng family's house on time.

"General Manager Wei, I feel like you're in a good mood today." Wu Yi seemed to be infected by Wei Yumeng's mood.

Wei Yumeng smiled, "Today is a very important appointment for me."

When Song Lijun saw Wei Yumeng, joy was evident on her face.

But soon, a hint of disappointment appeared: "Why didn't President Zhan come?"

Wei Yumeng explained, "I'm sorry Aunt Feng, Mo Han has too much company business, so he can't get away for now."

Although Wei Yumeng had explained, Song Lijun still felt a bit regretful. She always felt that Zhan Mohan might still have some lingering resentment towards their family because of past events, which was why he didn't come.

Zhan Shiqing stepped forward a few paces, "Grandma, this is a gift from Dad for you. Since he couldn't come, he asked us to give it to you on his behalf."

Hearing the word "Grandma" immediately made Song Lijun even happier.

Although she knew Zhan Shiqing didn't mean anything else by calling her that, she was still overjoyed.

"Shiqing, Grandma has prepared a lot of your favorite things for you and your brother today. Come and see if you like them."

Song Lijun pulled Zhan Shiqing, and Zhan Shiqing pulled Zhan Jinzhi. They walked into the room together.

Wei Yumeng smiled slightly. The scene, all in all, was very heartwarming, as if their family was meant to be like this.

It was just that with Zhan Mohan and Feng Zhenhua absent, the family wasn't complete, which was a bit of a regret.

"Grandma doesn't know what you like to eat, so I bought all the snacks. See what you want and eat as much as you like, you can take the leftovers home."

Zhan Shiqing and Zhan Jinzhi looked at the entire sofa filled with snacks, and even a small mountain of snacks next to it. They were simply dumbfounded.

"Grandma, are these all really for us?" Zhan Shiqing still couldn't quite believe it.

"Of course," Song Lijun said with a look of tenderness.

Although Zhan Jinzhi was also very happy, he pretended to be serious and said, "Shiqing, you can't eat too many snacks."

Wei Yumeng and Song Lijun went to the kitchen to prepare the meal, while the two children were completely immersed in the pile of snacks.

Before long, steaming hot dishes were served.

Although Wei Yumeng felt it was a bit out of place for the occasion, she still asked, "Where is Catherine?"

Song Lijun shook her head, "I don't know either. She didn't come back last night, and her phone is unreachable. We won't bother with her, as I can't control her anymore anyway."

When Song Lijun spoke, she was clearly still angry. After all, her own daughter had intended to kill them for a company, which was not something she could easily get over.

Wei Yumeng didn't mention it again and signaled for the children to eat.

Catherine had no idea how to leave that hotel. For an entire night and day, she felt as if she were living in hell, and such days would continue.

Perhaps at some point in the future, she might have a chance to be free, or perhaps she would never escape the clutches of that demon.

Even though the project had been approved, and her current situation would no longer be affected, she herself could no longer tell if her efforts were worth it.

Now, all she wanted was to return to her home, the only place that could still bring her peace. Only there could she hide nothing and pretend to be nothing.

But the moment she pushed open the door to her home, the warm and harmonious scene inside made her disbelieve her eyes.

She saw Wei Yumeng's family and Song Lijun sitting together, with Song Lijun not forgetting to serve food to the children, and Wei Yumeng watching it all with a gentle expression.

This harmonious family scene was like a sharp stab to her eyes.

Song Lijun also didn't expect Catherine to return at this moment. But it didn't matter, she just called out, "Linlin, you're back just in time. Wash your hands and come eat."

"Mom, why are they here?"

Song Lijun simply replied, "You are all my children. I invited them here for dinner, is there a problem?"

Catherine was somewhat annoyed, "But you didn't tell me!"

"Look at your phone, how many times did I call you and you didn't answer? Are you blaming me now?" Song Lijun was also getting annoyed. What was supposed to be a pleasant gathering was ruined by Catherine.

Catherine then took out her phone and indeed, it was out of battery.

Wei Yumeng continued to eat with the children by her side, not wanting any interaction with Catherine.

Catherine felt an uncontrollable surge of anger, "Fine, now you're a family, and I'm the outsider, right?"

"Linlin, don't make a scene! I never said that, and your father doesn't mean that either."

Catherine shook her head, "Even if you don't say it, I understand. I no longer belong to this family. Isn't it enough if I leave?"

Saying that, Catherine walked upstairs by herself, intending to pack her things and move out immediately.

Although she didn't know where she would go, she no longer wanted to stay in this house. It was no longer her home, nor was it a place she could entrust herself to wholeheartedly.
