Wei Yumeng felt a bit dizzy. It took her quite an effort to open her eyes and realize she was in a dilapidated room.
The room wasn't anything special, just looked very old. The walls were stained with rust, and even the windows were of a style used many years ago.
Across from her, Catherine was also tied up.
Catherine's condition seemed worse than hers. Her hands and feet were tightly bound to the iron frame beside her, making her completely immobile.
Wei Yumeng, on the other hand, was only tied at the hands.
Wei Yumeng managed to stand up by leaning against the wall and walked over to check on Catherine. As she bent down, she saw Catherine wake up.
"Wei Yumeng?" Catherine saw Wei Yumeng as soon as she opened her eyes.
Wei Yumeng breathed a sigh of relief. "Glad you're alright."
Catherine tried moving her limbs. "What's going on?"
Wei Yumeng shook her head. "I don't know. I just woke up here."
Just then, the tightly shut door opened, and several men walked in. They looked familiar.
Wei Yumeng immediately recognized them as some of the workers.
Logically, this whole situation was supposed to be under control by Zhan Mohan. How could they be here kidnapping them? Was this a spontaneous action? This would be troublesome.
"You're awake?" the leader said with a swagger.
Wei Yumeng looked at him coldly. "What do you want? We promised to give you an explanation. How can you go back on your word?"
"We have to wait another week. What if you can't produce the money by then? Make us wait for nothing? I can't wait any longer, and it's not just me. There are a few other guys outside who feel the same way."
The leader walked towards Wei Yumeng. She quickly backed away.
"I remember you're the project director of Feng Corporation, and your husband is that famous Zhan Mohan, right? If I kidnap you, I should get the money soon. The amount we want is nothing to your husband."
Hearing this, Wei Yumeng felt something was off, but she couldn't quite pinpoint it.
The man then moved in front of Catherine. "As for you, Feng Corporation is your family's. I believe money isn't a problem for you either, right?"
Catherine spat at him. "We don't need to give money to people like you."
"Whether you need to or not isn't up to you. Your family won't let you die here, right?"
As he spoke, he took out a small knife and waved it in front of Catherine.
"Then why did you tie me up like this and not her?"
"You're just a small-time CEO. She's Zhan Mohan's wife. I'm hoping to get more money from her. If something really happens to her, I'll be in deep trouble. I'm not that foolish."
"Hmph," Catherine scoffed. Even in this situation, she was still no match for Wei Yumeng.
Did even the kidnappers think she was less valuable than Wei Yumeng?
"You, come out with me for a bit. Make a call to your husband and tell him to bring us money quickly."
Without regard for Wei Yumeng's resistance, he dragged her outside.
Wei Yumeng found it strange. Although the man seemed to be gripping her with great effort, she didn't feel any real force.
But even so, Wei Yumeng was pulled outside by the man.
Seeing this, Catherine's lips curved upwards slightly. It seemed that even in death, Wei Yumeng would go before her.
As soon as they stepped through the door, the kidnappers seemed to transform.
"Apologies, Mrs. Zhan. We had no choice. Everything was arranged by Mr. Zhan."
Wei Yumeng was still processing. She had suspected something was wrong for a while, but she never expected it to be Zhan Mohan.
In a corner, a person dressed similarly to the other kidnappers stood up. He removed his hood, revealing Fang Xun.
"Madam, I apologize. President Zhan hadn't had the chance to explain this to you yet, so we had to resort to this method."
Wei Yumeng nodded. "What exactly is going on?"
"President Zhan has long suspected that many past incidents were the work of Catherine. However, he was unable to prove it. Furthermore, she had already harmed the young master. Therefore, President Zhan decided to take proactive measures."
Wei Yumeng was stunned. She had explicitly said she could handle it herself.
Fang Xun continued, "President Zhan knows you wanted to resolve your issues with her yourself. So, President Zhan created this scenario for you, hoping you could extract some information from her. This is a voice recorder. Please record your conversation."
Wei Yumeng nodded. Zhan Mohan was indeed looking out for her. But was orchestrating such a large-scale kidnapping a bit excessive?
"Oh, by the way, will Catherine also be allowed to call her family later?"
"Don't worry, Madam. We will handle this properly and will not affect Mr. and Mrs. Feng."
Wei Yumeng finally felt relieved. If the call had gone to Song Lijun and Feng Zhenhua, their already fragile health would have worsened.
Fang Xun checked the time. "Madam, the rest is up to you now."

Wei Yumeng just glared at him fiercely and lowered her head again.
The leader broke out in a cold sweat. He felt that Mrs. Zhan was too formidable. That glare had truly terrified him to his core.
The leader then turned to Catherine. "It's your turn next."
Catherine was resistant at first, but she was bound much more securely than Wei Yumeng and couldn't escape at all. In the end, she was dragged out.
Only after Catherine was taken away did Wei Yumeng lift her head as if nothing had happened. She was impressed by her own performance just now.
She needed to figure out how to trick Catherine into revealing information. She knew Catherine's personality well enough. In this situation, perhaps simply opposing her would cause Catherine to blurt out past events in anger.
But how exactly should she do it?
