"Has the investigation concluded?" Zhan Mohan frowned.
Fang Xun nodded, "Mr. Wang confessed everything. Catherine had informed him in advance that Wei Yumeng would be coming and had given him a hint, which is why Mr. Wang acted as he did."
Although this outcome was close to what Zhan Mohan had guessed, discovering the truth still made him furious.
Zhan Mohan could easily imagine Wei Yumeng would not confront Catherine directly out of concern for Feng's Group's internal affairs. However, he was different. If he wanted to teach Catherine a lesson, he had plenty of ways.
Since Catherine aspired to be the heir of Feng's, her reputation within the company was crucial.
Catherine had previously used projects to sabotage Wei Yumeng; he could certainly use the same tactic against her.
"Fang Xun, investigate for me which projects Feng's Group currently has underway."
Fang Xun returned shortly with the documents. "Mr. Zhan, these are all the ongoing projects."
Zhan Mohan took the documents and his gaze finally settled on one project. He now had a plan.
Catherine sat in her office, contemplating further ways to torment Wei Yumeng. All her previous schemes against Wei Yumeng had been thwarted, and she refused to accept it.
As for Wei Yumeng, apart from issuing threats, she hadn't been able to do much to Catherine due to Feng Zhenhua and Song Lijun's influence. Catherine, however, wasn't worried.
"Wu Yi, have you encountered any difficult projects recently?" Catherine asked, a sly smile playing on her lips.
Wu Yi understood her intention perfectly. If there were any challenging projects, Catherine would assign them to Wei Yumeng, thus achieving her goal of dealing with her.
However, Wu Yi was not blindly following Catherine. Initially, her loyalty was purely out of obligation. But witnessing Catherine's almost manic obsession, Wu Yi began to hesitate.
Finally, she replied, "There are no particularly challenging projects lately. All projects are proceeding smoothly."
Catherine's face fell with disappointment. If direct confrontation wouldn't work, she would have to resort to indirect methods.
Just then, Wu Yi's phone rang.
"What? Mr. Lin, we will definitely get to the bottom of this. Yes, please rest assured. Tomorrow? But..."
Wu Yi wanted to say more, but the caller hung up.
Catherine looked at Wu Yi, startled by the expression on her face.
"What is it?"
"Miss Catherine, something has gone terribly wrong with Mr. Lin's project. You need to resolve it personally."
"Mr. Lin? The person in charge of that new trading establishment?"
Catherine bit her lip. This project was under her direct supervision. How could something have gone wrong?
"Yes, Mr. Lin says he needs you to resolve this issue by tomorrow at the latest."
Catherine immediately stood up. She had no idea what had happened and could only go to speak with Mr. Lin to understand the root of the problem.
When she arrived at the scene, she saw the workers who were supposed to be building the establishment had gone on strike and were surrounding Mr. Lin, speaking incessantly.
"Mr. Lin, if you don't give us an explanation, how can we continue to work with peace of mind?"
"That's right, Mr. Lin! This wasn't part of the original plan!"
"We were told from the beginning that we were just building the shop. Why are you asking us to do other things now?"
"Most importantly, our wages haven't been calculated!"
"Exactly! That's the most important point."
Mr. Lin looked distressed and could only shout, "Our contract clearly stated that you are responsible for the entire establishment."
"But does the parking lot count as part of the establishment? Or the renovation of the adjacent road? If all that is included, the price should not be the same."
"And most importantly, look at this!" A worker held up the original contract. "Look at the deadline written here. It's today. That means our employment contract ends today, and we have no obligation to continue working."
At this point, Catherine understood the problem. However, she had personally reviewed the contract. How could such an issue have arisen?
The current situation was that the project was unfinished, and there were issues with the workers' contract deadlines and payment. Either of these alone was enough to cause Feng's Group significant financial losses, possibly exceeding the funds Catherine could readily access.
If she were to inform Feng Zhenhua about this, her competence would undoubtedly be questioned.
In that case, wasn't she inadvertently comparing her situation with Wei Yumeng's? Wei Yumeng's project was a great success, while she had made such a blunder.
What would Feng Zhenhua and the shareholders think of her?
One worker said, "We don't care. Either you calculate our wages for the other tasks separately, or we're done!"
Mr. Lin was sweating profusely. He was the project manager; if the workers quit, he would likely be finished.
At that moment, he turned around and saw Catherine.
"Miss Catherine, please look at the situation. What should we do?"
Catherine was also in a difficult position. She couldn't think of a better way to handle this.
However, if she didn't pay, and the workers went on strike, her entire project would be ruined.
No matter how she tried to compensate on either side, it would be futile.
She certainly couldn't afford to pay extra, but abandoning the project was out of the question.
In her eyes, this was not just any project. The success or failure of the project was a direct reflection of her capabilities.
Seeing Catherine, the workers surrounded her. "Are you the boss? How are you going to resolve this?"
"Everyone, please calm down. We didn't want this to happen. It was sudden. Please give me some time to arrange and handle it." Catherine could only say this, as she couldn't solve anything on the spot.
"How can you leave? If you leave, you'll never come back. Who will we talk to then?"
Catherine continued to explain, "Feng's has always maintained a good reputation. I can swear on the company's name that we will provide you with a satisfactory response. If the matter is not resolved by then, you can come directly to Feng's to collect your debts."
The workers looked at each other. Finally, their leader said, "Alright, we'll trust you this time."
"Thank you for your understanding," Catherine bowed deeply to the workers.
As the workers gradually dispersed, Catherine couldn't relax. If this matter wasn't resolved quickly, it would remain a festering problem. Moreover, this Mr. Lin had only given her one day.
Mr. Lin walked over. "Miss Catherine, please don't blame me for pushing you. This isn't just Feng's issue. Furthermore, the primary responsibility lies with you. If compensation is involved, our company will also incur significant losses."
