Mrs. Chaikovsky’s expression remained unchanged. “I declare that the ultimate winner of today’s competition is Mrs. Zhan.”
Mrs. Chaikovsky’s sudden announcement naturally left Wen Xue-shan reeling.
They had just been discussing how Mrs. Chaikovsky suspected her of colluding with the company mole, and now the winner was announced as Wei Yu-meng.
It was hard not to suspect that Mrs. Chaikovsky had made this decision based on that suspicion.
Yet, Mrs. Chaikovsky had not yet produced any evidence for this matter.
“Mrs. Chaikovsky, I cannot accept this result. You accuse me of being that person but cannot provide concrete evidence, yet you decide the outcome of this competition based solely on your word. I am not convinced.”
Mrs. Chaikovsky glanced at her calmly before speaking, “Don’t rush, Wen Xue-shan. I will clarify your situation. The reason I announced the competition results before settling accounts is to provide Mrs. Zhan with justice. This decision is unrelated to that matter; it is purely based on the quality of the proposals.”
She then sighed helplessly, “If I don’t clarify this point, I fear one of my partners might be displeased. And the reason we were able to find the person hiding within the company this time is thanks to his assistance.”
Wei Yu-meng was slightly taken aback by this statement. Who was Mrs. Chaikovsky referring to as a partner?
After speaking, Mrs. Chaikovsky looked at her assistant, who then produced a contract that had been prepared in advance.
“Therefore, according to our prior agreement, the winner of this competition is the one who obtains the project cooperation rights.”
The assistant handed the contract to Wei Yu-meng. “Mrs. Zhan, you may sign it directly after reviewing it. I will handle the rest.”
“Thank you.”
As soon as Wei Yu-meng finished speaking, Wen Xue-shan snatched the contract away.
“Mrs. Chaikovsky, I believe my abilities are no worse than hers. Why must this project go to her?” Wen Xue-shan’s eyes were filled with resentment. “I’ve been thinking. Someone must have deliberately told you something to ensure their victory, right? I hope you will carefully reconsider this matter, before it’s too late to regret.”
Wei Yu-meng found this statement somewhat speechless. When people can’t compete with others based on merit, they attribute the problem to others.
They imagine others used certain methods to achieve the final result, but in reality, such thoughts stem from their own lack of self-awareness.
Mrs. Chaikovsky then looked at Wen Xue-shan. “You just said your abilities are no worse than Mrs. Zhan’s? However, I do not think so.”
She said with a hint of helplessness, “Originally, I intended to resolve the competition matter first and then deal with your situation. But it seems you won’t give up until you’re completely convinced.”
Having said that, she glanced at her assistant and then closed her eyes, refusing to look at Wen Xue-shan, as if she found her utterly distasteful.
The assistant cleared his throat and then spoke, “Miss Wen, actually, Mrs. Chaikovsky altered some of the data in your forged proposal. If you examine your own proposal, you’ll find that the correct data for a 30% data representation was actually only 10.3%. And in another instance, the usage of our product in the survey data was actually 45%, but Mrs. Chaikovsky deliberately changed it to 40%.”
Wei Yu-meng finally understood. “So that’s how it is. Generally, people wouldn’t alter survey data, because such data appearing consistent is not unusual. If the factual data is as it is, then the survey conclusion will naturally be the same. However, if the errors are identical, it can only indicate that the proposal is problematic.”
“Precisely,” the assistant replied.
“How is that possible?” Wen Xue-shan still sounded unconvinced. “Is it not possible that I made a survey error?”
“That is precisely why Mrs. Chaikovsky altered those two places, isn’t it?” Wei Yu-meng explained. “If only one instance was the same, it might truly be a survey error. But with two identical discrepancies, the probability is rather slim.”
Wen Xue-shan’s face turned pale. She never imagined that her own clever trick would lead to her downfall.
The assistant continued, “There is one more matter for which we need to provide Mrs. Zhan with an explanation.”
As he spoke, he turned the computer screen towards Wei Yu-meng and Wen Xue-shan. A surveillance video was playing, showing the female employee stealing Wei Yu-meng’s contract.
In the final moments of the video, the female employee was clearly seen handing the item to Wen Xue-shan.
Wei Yu-meng blinked in surprise. She had seen this video before, and she clearly remembered that the final shot was not conclusive enough to confirm any connection between them.
“Impossible… impossible!”
Wen Xue-shan exclaimed in disbelief, “You couldn’t possibly have captured such a video, because I specifically chose…”
Mid-sentence, she abruptly shut her mouth.
At this moment, Mrs. Chaikovsky opened her eyes, and everyone quietly watched her.
Mrs. Chaikovsky finally spoke, “You are correct, Wen Xue-shan. We did not capture such a video. However, we no longer need that kind of proof, do we? You yourself have already admitted to what you did.”
Wen Xue-shan was speechless. She could never have imagined that she had fallen into Mrs. Chaikovsky’s trap.
“It’s not like that, it’s really not like that. Mrs. Chaikovsky, please listen to my explanation. I only did this because I wanted to secure the cooperation. We have always wanted to cooperate with your company.”
However, Mrs. Chaikovsky would not change her mind based on a few words of defense.
“Miss Wen, I will proceed with legal action against your party according to our company’s requirements. Please return now and await further notice.”
The assistant opened the conference room door. Their companies would no longer be cooperating partners.
Although Wen Xue-shan was still unwilling, she could do nothing more. She could only leave dejectedly.
Mrs. Chaikovsky walked over to Wei Yu-meng and asked, “How is it? Have you signed the contract? Are there any other issues?”
Wei Yu-meng finally came back to her senses. She had been engrossed in watching the drama unfold and had completely forgotten to review the contract.
However, seeing Mrs. Chaikovsky smiling at her, she felt a strange sensation.
“If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. If it’s something we can agree to, I will agree. You don’t need to be polite with me from now on.”
Mrs. Chaikovsky’s demeanor made it seem as if Wei Yu-meng could ask for the entire company and she would grant it.
“Um… Mrs. Chaikovsky, did something happen that I’m unaware of?” Wei Yu-meng finally asked, as this feeling was simply too strange.
