Chapter 1382 For her child, she could sacrifice everything

Mu Linjing had been accompanying Wei Yumeng quietly, even calling Zhan Mohan midway.

But the result was the same; Zhan Mohan's phone remained switched off.

Meanwhile, Wei Yumeng's mood grew increasingly despondent.

Mu Linjing felt that if things continued like this, it would only cause more worry. Yet, besides Zhan Mohan, no one else could directly lift Wei Yumeng’s spirits.

Just then, Wei Yumeng's phone rang.

As Wei Yumeng was still lost in sadness and dejection, Mu Linjing ended up answering the call for her.

"Is this Zhan Jinzhi's mother?" the voice of Zhan Jinzhi's homeroom teacher came from the other end of the line.

Mu Linjing was taken aback. "No, I'm not. But you can tell me, and I'll pass the message on to her."

"It's like this, Zhan Jinzhi got into a public fight at school and caused harm to the other party. That's why we've called you. If you have time, we hope you can come over as soon as possible."

Mu Linjing hung up the phone, still finding it hard to believe. She didn't think Zhan Jinzhi was the type of child to fight at school.

After some thought, Mu Linjing decided to tell Wei Yumeng about the child's situation.

"What? Jinzhi got into a fight with someone else?" Wei Yumeng also found it hard to believe.

"It's alright. I believe there must be other reasons behind this. I'll go and see," Mu Linjing said, preparing to head out.

But Wei Yumeng stopped her. "I'll go myself. Even though something like that happened between Mo Han and me, the children still need to be managed."

She stood up, then went back to her room to tidy herself. When she came out, she looked no different than usual.

Even so, Mu Linjing knew how much pain Wei Yumeng was in. Unless Zhan Mohan appeared in person, Wei Yumeng wouldn't be able to act as if nothing had happened.

"Alright, I have no reason to stop you. But you must be careful."

Wei Yumeng nodded. "Don't worry, it's just going to school. Nothing will happen."

With that, Wei Yumeng turned and left the house.

"No, it wasn't my dad who did it. I don't know anything about this."

"Don't try to deny it. The internet is full of rumors now. Isn't that person in the photo your dad? We all saw him come!"

Wei Yumeng arrived at the office and heard the sounds of two children arguing.

"Mrs. Zhan, you're here." The homeroom teacher looked unsure of what to do.

Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Jinzhi and another student. She had seen that student at the birthday banquet; it was Wang Xiaocong.

He was also the "son" of that Mr. Wang.

Suddenly, Wei Yumeng understood why Zhan Jinzhi had fought with this child. He had probably realized something from those photos.

"Mrs. Zhan, although this incident appears to be a conflict between two children, it's actually because... because it was caused by you parents earlier. I hope you can resolve it privately."

The homeroom teacher was also somewhat helpless. If it were just a conflict between children, she could mediate. However, this matter was much more complicated.

Wei Yumeng took a deep breath. "I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused you."

"It's no trouble. This is what I should do as a teacher."

Wei Yumeng felt grateful to the homeroom teacher. By not directly mentioning that matter in front of her, she had shown her great respect.

"Teacher, can I speak with Wang Xiaocong alone?"

The teacher nodded. "You two talk. I'll step out first."

After the homeroom teacher left, Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Jinzhi.

"Jinzhi, are you confronting him because of the news on the internet?"

Zhan Jinzhi did not deny it. In fact, he looked furious upon hearing this.

"Jinzhi, listen to your mother. I didn't do anything in this matter. I'm not afraid of what others say. And the person who impersonated Wang Xiaocong's father has already been caught by your father. So, he probably doesn't know the inside story."

Wei Yumeng's intention was to resolve this matter peacefully, but Wang Xiaocong did not think the same.

"Hmph, don't try to sweet-talk us. Our whole family knows what kind of person you are. Uncle Ma already told us, and that's why our family was willing to help."

Wei Yumeng's brows furrowed. This Uncle Ma should be Mr. Wang from that day. His surname Wang was merely a disguise for his false identity.

"Uncle Ma said that none of you are good people. You caused others to lose their jobs, and you do whatever it takes to achieve your goals, even going so far as to be with other men..."

"Shut up!" He was interrupted mid-sentence by Zhan Jinzhi. "If you dare say it again, I'll really make you pay."

Wei Yumeng quickly stopped Zhan Jinzhi, stroking his head to comfort him.

"It's okay, Jinzhi, it's really okay."

"I think it matters!" a somewhat grating voice came from outside the door.

Then, the office door was pushed open. A woman with a shapeless figure, who had deliberately dressed herself in gaudy attire, appeared.

Her outfit didn't make her look attractive; rather, it appeared rather comical.

"Mom!"

Wang Xiaocong shouted and ran towards the woman.

"You're the one who hit my son?" Mrs. Wang looked at Wei Yumeng and Zhan Jinzhi with disdain. "I wondered who it was. So it's Wei Yumeng. No wonder her child would do such a thing; after all, the mother isn't much better."

Seeing that Zhan Jinzhi was about to erupt again, Wei Yumeng immediately stopped him.

"Mrs. Wang, I admit that my son has a problem in this matter, but shouldn't you also reflect on your own issues?" Wei Yumeng said coldly.

But that Mrs. Wang's nostrils were practically pointed at the sky. "My issues? What issues could I possibly have? Even if I had issues, it's not for a disreputable woman like you to criticize. I'm afraid it would dirty my ears."

Wei Yumeng was already struggling to suppress her anger. Her already bad mood made her less patient than usual.

That Mrs. Wang continued, "Speaking of which, I don't see Mr. Zhan either. Could it be that he already knows about what you've done and doesn't intend to manage you anymore? How pathetic."

"Who..."

"Who said I'm not managing them?"

Wei Yumeng was about to retort when a stern voice came from behind her.

Upon seeing the person who arrived, Mrs. Wang froze entirely.

Zhan Mohan looked at Wei Yumeng and Zhan Jinzhi, his eyes softening considerably. "I'm sorry, I'm late."

Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Mohan for a long time. Wasn't he abroad? She had thought he would abandon her because of this matter...

"What's wrong?" Zhan Mohan noticed Wei Yumeng's strange gaze.

Wei Yumeng then said with a hint of grievance, "I thought... I thought you really believed that news, believed what they said."
