Chapter 162: A Family of Three
Early the next morning, Hilla woke up and found that Horton was already waiting in her living room.
"Horton, you will be the best husband. Your wife will live a happy life." Hilla patted Horton on the shoulder and appreciated him.
She did not object that Horton liked Halle. However, if Halle did not like him, she would ask Horton to stop wasting time on Halle.
Horton’s eyes lit up and he said with some excitement, "Are you telling the truth?"
After he finished speaking, he saw Halle coming out from inside. He immediately stepped forward and reached out.
Halle glanced at him but did not ask him to help her. Instead, she smiled and said gratefully, "Sorry to trouble you again, Dr. Hutt."
"My pleasure. Anyway, I am taking the day off."
"Yes, I think Dr. Hutt doesn’t mind the trouble at all. He is willing to serve you."
Hilla laughed gloatingly at the side. The next second, Halle glared at her. Hilla put out her tongue and stopped acting as she pleased.
Horton saw Halle’s expression. A trace of disappointment flashed in his eyes, but he smiled gently. "It’s almost time for the appointment. Let’s go over first."
Halle was due in less than a month. If contraction appeared at this time, she might suffer dystocia.
Halle insisted on giving birth naturally, so Hilla was worried.
Regardless of whether Halle liked Horton or not, he was a doctor after all, and at the critical moment, he could at least save Halle’s life.
Hilla looked worriedly at Halle’s big belly and then looked at Horton. "You have to take good care of my sister. Don’t let her get tired. If she suffers a little pain, I will get even with you."
She originally wanted to give Halle and Horton a chance to be alone. Perhaps this prenatal examination could change Halle’s mind.
But if Halle was with Horton, Hilla found that she seemed to be very worried.
If she hadn’t promised to go back to Anderson’s house with Bruce, she would go to the hospital with Halle now.
"Don’t worry. I promise I’ll return her to you in good condition."
Horton took the materials of prenatal exams from Halle, but Halle deliberately kept a distance from him.
There was an unspeakable awkwardness between them, and Hilla frowned as she
watched.
"Halle, if you feel uncomfortable, please feel free to call me."
Halle nodded slightly in response to Hilla’s warning. "Don’t worry. It’s just a prenatal checkup. It’s not childbirth. There’s no need to be so nervous."
"But you have a big belly. I’m afraid that Horton can’t take care of you alone."
Hilla ignored Horton’s angry eyes and looked at Halle. She told a lot of notes until Halle was annoyed. Seeing Bruce go downstairs, she quickly pushed Halle into Bruce’s arms.
"Hurry up and take your chatterbox away. She’s so annoyed that I’m about to give birth now."
Halle’s joke made the atmosphere better. Bruce took the opportunity to hold Hilla in his arms. He looked down and smiled, "My chatterbox is so capable."
"I’m not a chatterbox! You’re not allowed to dislike me!"
Hilla stared at Bruce, pouting. Beside her, Horton blinked and silently turned away, and then he left with Halle.
He simply couldn’t see them do PDA anytime and anywhere.
In the hospital.
Bruce had already arranged for her prenatal check-up, so everything went smoothly.
However, when the doctors and nurses in the hospital saw that Horton was accompanying a pregnant woman to the check-up, they were astonished.
Soon, the news that Dr. Hutt had made a woman pregnant and that they were going to get married spread throughout the Central Hospital of River City.
Horton was so outstanding and he was a dream lover for many girls. However, he was getting married and he was going to be a father.
They were shocked that Horton was having a baby so soon.
"The baby is very healthy. He is sleeping."
Halle lay on the bed and looked at the screen on the wall. The baby closed his eyes and curled up into a ball.
Horton also saw it. Although it was not his first time accompanying Halle for a check-up, it was the first time he could see this scene.
The little guy on the screen closed his eyes. He moved his hands and legs occasionally. And in the blink of an eye, he turned his body around and showed them his little butt.
"He was shy."
Horton said excitedly. He was more excited than Halle, who was lying beside him. "Halle, look, he is turning his head and ignoring everyone."
"Dr. Hutt, you hid this from us very well. You’re about to become a father. We didn’t even know about it. You hurt those fans in our hospital who are infatuated with you."
"Now, you have to treat us to wedding cake!"
The nurse at the side agreed. She looked at Halle, full of envy.
Horton was a dream husband in their hospital. Many female doctors and nurses bought breakfast and small gifts for him every day, but Horton was touched by none of them.
They thought Dr. Hutt belonged to everyone, so they were surprised that he was conquered.
They were upset.
"No, you misunderstood. Dr. Hutt and I are not married. We are relatives. Dr. Hutt just accompanied me for a checkup today."
Halle pursed her lips. It was hard for her to say that Horton was not her baby’s father.
In the room, after some awkward silence, the others looked at Horton with different feelings.
The gynecologist thought, "You’re not the baby’s father. Why are you so excited? You made me misunderstand!"
The nurse blushed and thought, "Dr. Hutt is still our dream husband!"
Halle tilted her head slightly, avoiding the gaze of Horton and feeling a little awkward.
She was doing this for the sake of everyone, so she didn’t feel she was wrong.
After the prenatal examination, Horton was gloomy.
Halle was clearly explaining for him. He should be happy that he was not entangled with a pregnant woman, but he was depressed.
He didn’t know why. He even felt angry because of Halle’s explanation!
"I’m going to get the things. Wait for me!"
After Horton finished speaking, he hurriedly left before Halle said something.
Halle looked at his back. She wanted to say something but stop.
"Halle, it is you. I finally meet you here!"
Halle turned around and saw Titus coming over with a look of surprise.
"I have been waiting here for you for a month. I come here every day and hope to meet you again someday. Halle, I’m sorry for what I did before. In the past year, I can’t stop missing you. Let’s get married again!"
...
"Believe me, Halle. I will be nice to you and the child in your belly. I will regard him as my own child. Can you give me a chance?"
Titus held Halle’s hand and said sincerely and excitedly. He looked at Halle’s belly, hesitated, and then struggled to continue.
"Believe me. I am regretful. Eve only wanted my money. Her child is not mine. Now she and her lover ran away with their child. We can be together again.
"We, a family of three, can live a simple and happy life. Isn’t this what you wanted before? If you don’t want to live with my mother, we can move out after you give birth."
The more Titus said, the more excited he became. It looked as if he was going to take Halle back home.
Halle was stunned and asked in confusion, "Why are you waiting for me here?"
It was obvious that her child was not Titus’. Why was he willing to raise this child for her? And could he change so much in just a year?
Halle had lived with Titus for five years and he had never said that he fell in love with her or couldn’t leave her. They were divorced and now Halle was pregnant. Titus came here and asked Halle to live an ordinary life with him. How could Halle agree?
In the past, Halle yearned for this kind of life, but she never lived once.
"We have divorced and this isn’t your child. You don’t have to do this."
Titus was excited but Halle was indifferent. Perhaps it was because she didn’t expect anything of Titus and Halle was also wondering why she fell in love with Titus at first.
Halle pulled her wrist out of Titus’ hand. It was painful. She looked even colder.
The less emotional one was, the calmer he would become.
Halle was sure that she had no connection with Titus. Even her hated was not as deep as she thought.
The relationship between them was completely gone.
"I’m sorry, Halle. I know that it was all my fault and you won’t forgive me. But I also know that the child has no father and I can be his father.
"I promise that I will be good to you and your child. Can you come back with me, Halle? I can’t live without you."
Then Titus suddenly hugged Halle. Halle was startled and she started to struggle. "What are you doing, Titus? Let me go!"
"Please, Halle. I know that I was wrong. Please forgive me and come back with me. I can be the father of your child. I can take better care of you two."
Titus refused to let Halle go. Soon people around them were attracted.
Halle was worried about her belly and could only struggle slightly, so she was dragged away.
Halle had never expected Titus to change better. All her hope was worn out in their five-year marriage.
Halle was afraid that Titus would hurt the child in her belly.
Just as Halle was at a loss, Titus released his hand. And someone held her in the arms.
Halle felt familiar and calmed down.
Meanwhile, Titus was kicked in the stomach and fell down on the ground.
He hit the ground so hard that people around were startled.
Then Titus curled up on the ground, groaning.
What a hard kick!
Halle was stunned. She looked up and saw Horton. She wanted to cry.
"Don’t be afraid. I’m here!"
"Dr. Hutt."
Halle came to herself and quickly got away from Horton.
She was awkward. It was better not to involve others.
Feeling that others were looking at her, Halle was extremely embarrassed.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"
Halle shook her head. It was too embarrassing. Her ex- husband was on the ground and the child’s father was standing before her. She felt that she was a laughing stock and everyone could laugh at her.
"Let’s go."
Horton did not mind Halle’s alienation and took her into the elevator.
After the pain was relieved, Titus slowly reached for the door of the elevator with one hand. After a long while, he called out, "Halle..."
In the old mansion of the Anderson family.
Hilla enjoyed all kinds of tonics and snacks from Orlenna. She was full and could only rub against the sofa.
"What’s wrong?"
Bruce turned to her and asked. Hilla bit her lip and answered, "I am stuffed."
"Dinner isn’t ready and you’re already full."
Bruce smiled. He reached out and massaged Hilla’s stomach.
"I can’t help it. Mum is too hospitable. Have I been away for a long time?"
Hilla thought for a while. After they moved out, she seldom came to the old mansion. She only had a video call or sent messages to Orlenna every day. They seldom met face to face.
It seemed that she wasn’t a good daughter-in-law.
"It doesn’t matter. If you are not hungry, you can eat less."
"How can that be? Mum has been preparing for a whole day."
Seeing that Orlenna was cooking chicken and fish in the kitchen, Hilla felt a lot more guilty.
When she was worried, Margaret came back.
Margaret could eat a lot. She can help Hilla.
"Margaret, why are you back?"
"The lady in the kitchen asked me to come back."
Margaret was lying on the sofa. Bruce glanced at her. Then she immediately sat upright, her legs together and her posture elegant.
Margaret looked at Hilla, smiled elegantly and decently, and said, "But I’m relieved to see you here."
Hilla frowned and asked, "Why?"
Margaret was not sure if Bruce would be on her side. If Bruce knew that she spent 500 thousand dollars on a ruby, he would be angry too.
Bruce was more strict with Margaret.
"Because as long as she urges you to have a baby, she would ignore me!
"After all, her eldest grandson was of the top priority."
Then Margaret sighed again, "It’s time to sign up for primary school now. Orlenna must have a friend whose grandchild will go to a key primary school!"
