Chapter 152: What Did You Do?

Chapter 152: What Did You Do?

After taking a photo here, Hilla, with her schoolmates, went to other places in River University and took photos there. After that, she returned to the dormitory with Lily to pack up.

Although Margaret had been here for a short time, she made many friends. In addition, even if she was a cheapskate, growing up in a wealthy family, she was not excluded.

Instead, as Bruce’s sister, she was very popular. The Anderson Group provided the most jobs for the graduates at this university, so many of them attributed this to her.

To get a good job, they spared no efforts to curry favor with her.

Margaret had been flattered since she was a child, so she was used to it. No matter whether the others were sincere or not, she remained friendly to them.

Thus, nearly all her schoolmates thought she was accessible, frugal, and graceful.

However, in fact, Margaret wanted to be bossy and spent freely, but she did not get enough money from her family.

Even though the wealthy families always bred spendthrifts, Orlenna was strict with Margaret’s allowance.

"Hilla, what did the dean say? Are you going to Pinecastle?"

Scarcely had the others walked away when Lily asked Hilla.

Lily felt that with Hilla’s talent, Hilla should go to Pinecastle. After all, Hilla had the

potential to be an excellent designer, but...

Looking at Hilla’s belly, Lily thought it would be difficult for Hilla to leave with Bruce’s baby.

"I don’t want to go there."

Hilla blinked and chuckled. "I like it here."

"But it is a good opportunity. You’ve said you want to revitalize your family, so you can acquire more fashion knowledge and popular things in Pinecastle. What you can learn there will be very helpful for you and Halle to accomplish your goal."

Lily pursed her lips. Although Hilla had never talked about it, Lily knew that Hilla was ambitious and resented idleness in the Anderson family.

Hilla smiled, and the mole under her eye looked captivating.

Lily’s eyes were a little dazzled. She felt that Hilla, who was just standing there and smiling, was extremely attractive. Thus, Hilla didn’t need to be a designer who had to pull out all the stops.

With her beautiful face, she looked good in any clothing she designed.

Hilla could earn her living by her pretty face, but she relied on her talent and efforts,

which shamed Lily.

Compared with Hilla, Lily felt deadly bad about herself.

"It is a good chance, but I don’t want to leave River City. Halle is going to have a baby. I’ve promised to stay with her."

Hilla was not sad at all. She had promised Halle and was worried about Halle.

There were only two months left, so Hilla couldn’t leave.

Lily nodded and couldn’t help glancing at Hilla’s belly.

’Your belly is almost as big as your sister’s. Maybe she has to take care of you.’

When Hilla returned to the dormitory, she went into the bathroom. Taking the box, in which the pregnancy test was, out of her handbag, she carefully read the instructions and sighed heavily.

She asked herself not to be nervous.

It was just a test. At worst, she was actually pregnant, but she hoped it didn’t happen.

"God bless me! I don’t want to get pregnant now!"

After muttering, she gritted her teeth, carefully opened the box, took the pregnancy test out of it, and closed her eyes. "Whatever."

The moment Hilla took her pants off, she was stunned. Her underwear was red with blood.

Did it mean that she was having her period?

Hilla trembled with the pregnancy test in her hand. She blinked and looked at her underwear again. Then, she silently put away the test and pulled up her pants.

It seemed she needed a sanitary pad.

Although it was good that she was not pregnant, Hilla rubbed her belly gently with a strange expression.

It was weird. She was not happy but a little disappointed when she realized she didn’t get pregnant. She had never wanted to be a mother so early.

However, when Hilla saw Halle sit in the yard and stroking Halle’s belly, Hilla was tempted. Nevertheless, she knew that she could not have a baby before Halle settled down and the factory was open.

They were looking forward to it. Hilla knew well that Halle was not only gentle but also bullheaded.

When Halle’s marriage failed, she blamed herself for causing trouble for her family. Otherwise, the Holt family would not have become so vulnerable when her parents passed away.

Halle was unwilling, but also regretful, and so was Hilla. Besides, Hilla was worried

about Halle.

Hilla would be limited in many aspects when the baby came. After changing her clothes, she walked out of the bathroom. With a seemingly calm face, she gently rubbed her belly and pursed her lips.

It was probably because she was on her period that she wanted to eat so much, and her belly was increasingly bulging day by day.

She would appreciate it if she hadn’t been pregnant, but this idea would let Bruce down.

Anyhow, women couldn’t be tied by their children!

"Hilla, why have you not packed up yet?"

When Lily came back, Hilla was sitting alone on the bed. Seeing this, Lily immediately looked at Hilla’s belly nervously and was worried that there was something wrong with her belly. She even wanted to take Hilla to the hospital.

She had no experience in taking care of a pregnant woman!

"Sorry, please give me a minute."

When Hilla snapped out of the daze, she put some books into the suitcase, with which he stood up and walked out.

Lily wanted to give Hilla a hug goodbye, but Hilla left without looking back, which worried Lily very much.

Thus, Lily texted Margaret that Margaret should do her job right away.

Hardly had Hilla gone downstairs when she saw Rigel, who was wandering around the girls’ dormitory.

She thought that he was waiting for someone else, but he began to walk towards her.

He hadn’t finished his words last time, so he walked to her. Seeing this, Hilla blinked in confusion.

"I am still working at the Anderson Group."

Rigel pursed his lips, breathing hard.

Hilla didn’t expect him to say that. She tilted her head and said, "It seems you like it."

"No, I don’t like it."

The Anderson Group was known for its high workload and high requirements for interns. Hilla understood this, so she nodded. She also didn’t like it when she worked there.

"Well, then you stay there because it is good for your development."

Rigel shook his head. "No, the Anderson Group is great, but it isn’t for me. I work

there because I was waiting for you to go back."

Hilla was stunned. ’I can’t possibly have heard him correctly. I’ve told him that I won’t return to the Anderson Group!"

...

Hilla looked at Rigel in a daze and asked in a strange tone, "Waiting for me?"

"Yes!"

Rigel’s tone was firm. Hilla didn’t know how to respond. Considering that Rigel knew she was married, she thought Rigel shouldn’t have ulterior motives.

"Will you go to Pinecastle?"

Rigel said through gritted teeth and looked very awkward. Before Hilla could speak, he continued, "I will go there. We can go together."

"No, I won’t. I don’t want to leave River City and Bruce."

Hilla flushed and gave a happy smile, which disappointed Rigel. He was even heartbroken.

She said she didn’t want to leave Bruce.

"It is a good opportunity. It will be very helpful for your future development." Rigel stood stiff and didn’t want to give up.

Hilla smiled and said, "You’re right. It’s a good opportunity, but I’ve got married to Bruce. He will support me, so designing is not that important. After all, I needn’t push myself too hard. He will take care of me, so it doesn’t matter whether I work or not."

Rigel was a little dizzy with a hot and prickly feeling spreading from the top of his head down his body.

The happier she was, the more unhappy he looked.

"But you are different. You are promising and will live better than me. After all, you are so outstanding and come from a very good family. Probably you will find a foreign girlfriend in Pinecastle, but I think you’d better date someone in our country."

Hilla’s voice was sweet and crisp. Even if it wasn’t loud, she spoke every word clearly.

She said jokingly with a smile, as a schoolmate.

Rigel stared at her and pursed his lips. Finally, with a long face, he turned around and walked away.

When he had gone, the smile vanished from Hilla’s face. Her clear black eyes turned a little cold.

Instead of being innocent and bashful, she looked grim and slowly heaved a sigh of relief. It was too hard to persuade such an innocent man.

She even said she would live on Bruce, which was contrary to her values!

When Hilla arrived at Lakeshore Center, Margaret had not yet returned. Nobody but

the nanny was at home. She washed some fresh peaches for Hilla. Hardly had Hilla taken a bite when she received a call from Lilian, who was in the countryside.

"Halle is not feeling well. Hilla, you’d better come and take Halle to the hospital in the urban area."

When Lilian was saying, Hilla heard that Halle was stopping Lilian.

Although Lilian didn’t say anything else, Hilla was nervous and worried. She hurriedly got up and said, "How is she going now?"

"Halle is..."

"Hilla, I’m fine. The baby in my belly kicked me just now. Lilian is too nervous."

If so, Lilian wouldn’t have called Hilla. After all, Hilla asked Lilian to take care of Halle because Lilian had children as well and was experienced.

"Halle, you should see your ob-gyn. The baby’s due date is around the corner. I’ll pick you up."

"There is more than a month."

Before Halle could finish speaking, Hilla hung up the phone.

Halle looked at the phone and frowned. Then, she returned the phone to Lilian.

"Halle, it’s the first time you get pregnant, so you must be careful. If you are not feeling well, you should go to the hospital at once. The health care here is poor, so many of us go to the hospital in the urban area. I’m really worried about you."

Lilian looked concerned. Looking at Halle’s round belly, she was getting increasingly nervous. She was even tenser than when she had been pregnant.

At first, Lilian thought that Halle and Hilla were from a middle-class family in the urban area. Later, she found out they were from a super-wealthy family. Halle owned a bunch of properties, which stepped out of any norm that Lilian had known.

In the end, the arrival of Bruce revealed that Hilla married into a richer family. Lilian even found on the Internet that the Anderson family owned incomprehensible sums of money, which frightened Lilian so much that she couldn’t help trembling.

When Bruce left, he gave Lilian and other neighbors an enormous sum of money. They all thought that it was the total care fee for them to take care of Halle during Halle’s pregnancy.

However, Bruce gave them so much money every month, which scared them. They tried their best to cook for her.

They bought everything expensive in the countryside to cook for her. Taking so much money from Bruce, they were afraid that something would go wrong.

Every time Halle frowned in discomfort, Lilian’s concern reached its height. "Thank you, Lilian. I know it."

Halle gave an understanding smile, which greatly relieved Lilian.

When Hilla reached the countryside, it was nearly evening. The sky was a little dark. Seeing that Hilla was alone, Halle couldn’t help asking, "Why are you alone?"

"When I came, Bruce was in the company. Margaret said that she was going to a graduation party and might be back at dawn."

Hilla said as she helped Halle into the house, looking down all the way.

She did not know how to face Bruce alone tonight, so she came here as an excuse.

Halle nodded. "Why not stay here for the night and go back tomorrow morning?"

"Then you..."

"I’m fine. It’s just a normal pregnancy reaction. Brice gives them too much money, so Lilian is too nervous. Besides, there’s more than a month left. I also have something to pack up."

"I’ve never been pregnant, so I don’t know."

She had heard of preterm labor before, and it usually happened one or two months earlier than the due date.

Therefore, Hilla was worried when receiving Lilian’s call.

After saying that, she couldn’t help looking at her own belly and got a strange feeling.

Anyhow, she was relaxed that she didn’t need to face Bruce tonight.

She was bashful when Bruce saw the birth control pills, but she didn’t think it matter. However, when her period came, which meant that she was not pregnant, she was a little upset.

"Something on your mind?"

When Halle saw that Hilla was rubbing the chest and frowning, Halle realized something. "Did you have a conflict with Bruce?"

Before Hilla could speak, Halle added, "He is always nice to you, so he didn’t irritate you, and neither did his family. As a result, that’s your problem. What did you do?"

Hilla muttered, "I’m innocent! Thanks to him, I’m even close to being pregnant!"
