Chapter 71: Aiden Revealed?
Aiden’s avatars had sent every item they had acquired from the market directly into the system’s inventory, where the original could retrieve them.
Then, one by one, they disappeared after completing their tasks.
Aiden had just walked into the guild’s room and went into the kitchen first.
Without anyone seeing him, he pulled out a canvas bag carrying food items from his inventory and left it on the kitchen table.
A wooden box then appeared in his palm as he walked out of the kitchen and called toward Rick in the corner, "Rick! The food items are on the kitchen table. You owe me ten silver pieces."
Rick, who had been in conversation with Bernard, looked at Aiden in surprise, then back at Bernard. They both immediately headed to the kitchen to confirm what he’d said.
Aiden moved over to Sorkin and passed him the small wooden box he’d requested for saving money. "And there’s your safe box, Sorkin."
This put a smile on Sorkin’s face, and he replied in that thick voice of his, "I’ll have your pay ready for you soon."
One by one, Aiden delivered people’s requested items, leaving smiles on their faces.
The system sent him a notification:
[Daily Missions x7: Finish at least one mission request or guild request → Complete]
[You have completed the number of requests required to trigger full rewards]
[+4 available stats points]
[You have been granted +600xp x7]
[Bonus Rewards: +300xp x6]
[Outstanding Performance Reward for Early and Extra Requests Completion: +600xp]
[XP Boost Badge: Extra +6,600xp]
He had an exciting grin on his face seeing these rewards. It turned out completing the guild requests early wasn’t a bad idea after all.
He then went toward the table where his fellow initiates sat with Piers and Elena. He chose to sit closest to Laela, and you could see the blushing smile on her face.
"That’s a lot of guild requests you just fulfilled," Piers said, looking half surprised.
Kayden scoffed, shook his head, and looked away.
Aiden looked toward Piers with a smile and said, "Mind sending me to Geshu Mountains tomorrow?"
Elena’s face immediately turned toward Aiden with a shocked expression.
He looked back at her and said, "Let’s get you that Purple Hermis Stone."
Elena’s face immediately lit up gleefully at those words. She hadn’t expected that anyone would want to take the stress.
"Someone’s in a good mood," Arianna said.
"Yeah, wish I could say the same for Kayden," Aiden taunted as he looked at Kayden, who instantly scowled and replied in that angry tone, "What did you just say?!"
They both started bickering at each other, and the entire guild went into fits of laughter watching them argue.
...
Meanwhile, Alaric, Ingrid, and Rakan were currently seated on the floor of a dark enclosed room somewhere within the Academy.
It had just one large window behind them and an entrance door. One could probably mistake it for a holding dungeon or cell regardless of its large space.
Footsteps were heard approaching the room, and when the door was opened, the Grand Magus walked in with a devious smile on her face.
They all stood from their sitting positions on the ground in anticipation of what the woman wanted to do next.
Thamoryn snapped her fingers, and instantly her light magic illuminated the entire room. The magic circle all three of them had been standing on became clearly visible, even though they didn’t understand what it was for.
Alaric immediately walked closer and spoke up, "Why are you holding us here against our will?" Though he looked fearless, he also sounded really tired. All he wanted was to return home to his wives and kids.
"Don’t worry, you’ll all be on your way soon. I just need to get some information out of you," Thamoryn replied, somehow sounding both nice and vicious at the same time.
"What information could you possibly want from people without any magic?" Alaric retorted, since the Grand Magus was making no sense.
Thamoryn chuckled for a moment, then said, "Part of my duty as Grand Magus is to know what goes on with the mages of this kingdom. By any means necessary..."
There was a brief pause, then she continued, "That way, we identify possible threats and put unruly ones back in line."
The three of them stared at her with growing nervousness as she spoke.
"And a certain mage has been proving quite evasive, so I’d love to see things for myself," Thamoryn said.
They all had confused stares on their faces, but that didn’t last long. She stretched her hand toward them, and white light glowed from the magic circle they stood on.
Instantly, they all stopped moving and stood still. Their faces were expressionless, and their eyes had a white glow, same as Thamoryn who cast the spell.
This was the God Level Supplementary Spell: Psyche Reveal. It was a spell used for forcibly reading the minds of targets.
The spell was not exactly simple as it required that the targets be standing on the right magic circle that had to be drawn beforehand.
Once the spell was activated, the caster could peer through the minds of those standing on the magic circle.
With this, Thamoryn was able to access their minds regarding the dungeon situation.
"Spatial magic?"
"Levitation?"
These were the spells Alaric had personally witnessed; the space portal that saved him and the levitation Aiden used to return to the settlement after rescuing him.
Thamoryn, with a shocked expression on her face, was seeing it all through his mind and noting the magic spells she observed.
She had only intended to look through their minds to see the events of the dungeon, but upon seeing them, she realized that these dungeon raiders had some sort of past relationship with Aiden.
That was when she decided to go way back and search for as much information as she could.
Then the spell stopped, and they all fell unconscious to the ground, except for Thamoryn, who whispered to herself with a shocked expression still on her face:
"He’s a mage from Dragonhold?"
....
Later that night, Aiden was at the balcony alone as most people had started settling in for the night.
Prior to this, the guild members had paid the coin rewards to Aiden for the completed guild requests.
However, it was time he put all those accumulated experience points to good use. First, he made a screen containing his experience requirements appear:
[Exp Requirements]:
- 6400xp required to go up to Level 7 Hatchling
- 3,500xp required for Dragon’s Sight Lv.3
- 2,500xp required for Dragon Transformation Lv.2
- 1500xp required for Dragon’s Fear Lv.2
- 12000 XP required to raise Host Magic to Ex-Rank
- 15000 XP required to raise Destruction Authority to Ex-Rank
- 15000 XP required to raise Replication Authority to Ex-Rank
- 15000 XP required to raise Space Authority to Ex-Rank
[Exp Balance: 33,350]
"So much yet so little," Aiden whispered to himself, referring to the amount of experience points he had compared to the amount required to rank up his abilities.
