Chapter 441 What Kind of Move Is This

Their current enormous size made it as easy as breathing to catch up to Jiang Fan.

Seeing their myriad of legs, Jiang Fan knew how terrifying his own speed was. If he ran at full speed, he probably wouldn't be slower than a cheetah.

"They say a centipede's weak point is on its head, at the position of the third scale. If we just slash there, it should die."

Jiang Fan was utterly astonished upon hearing Yao say this. Who normally researches how to kill a centipede? He hadn't expected Yao to know such obscure trivia.

Although in reality it might just take a single stomp, in this world, this piece of knowledge seemed incredibly useful. Without it, killing this centipede would be like dreaming.

This was because their bodies were protected by powerful armor.

Direct confrontation was almost impossible. Now that he knew its weak point, Jiang Fan could only seize the opportunity and let his fire axe cut through the gaps in its armor.

"Are you sure this information is correct? If it is, I can try."

Before Yao could reply, he walked to the entrance of the cave and poked his head out, looking for where the centipede had gone. Jiang Fan also noticed the small, spinning knife in his hand.

"You still haven't thrown it away?"

Jiang Fan was incredibly surprised. He remembered how disgusting that knife had become in the incubation pool of those monsters. He thought Yao had discarded it back then, but he hadn't expected Yao to keep it.

"Don't worry, I've already washed it clean. It doesn't smell anymore. You can sniff it yourself if you don't believe me."

Seeing Yao trying so hard to prove himself, Jiang Fan quickly backed away and waved his hand.

"It's fine, I believe you. Just quickly stab that centipede to death. Right now, I want to safely scout out this cave entrance."

"We need to know the structure of this cave entrance first. Otherwise, if we need to escape, we'll have to search for a path. If we've used up all our provisions, we'll be doomed."

Upon hearing this, Yao quickly nodded. Then, with the dagger tied to a string in his hand, he threw it towards the centipede.

Unexpectedly, Yao's dagger bounced back.

Yao quickly pulled back the string and retrieved the dagger. The two of them immediately turned and pressed themselves against the rocks.

"What happened? Weren't you supposed to be incredibly accurate? How could this happen?"

Jiang Fan was also terrified. Before, Yao had effortlessly hit even an extremely thin string with his dagger. Yet, now, he had missed such a large centipede.

"It's not that simple. This creature, although massive, constantly shifts its armor. I don't know its movement patterns. Like you said, who sits on the floor studying how a centipede moves? I don't know when or where its armor opens or closes."

After hearing Yao's explanation, Jiang Fan finally understood. It seemed that as the centipede moved, its right side armor had just closed.

Jiang Fan immediately dug a small hole in the lotus leaf and began observing the centipede's movement and how its armor closed.

"Got it! I've found a way. Wait until its head turns to the left, then throw the dagger. If you hit it, it should be dead."

Hearing this, Yao once again peered out without hesitation. However, the centipede seemed to have become aware of them.

The centipede was looking around, its head constantly swiveling, even tilting upwards as if searching for something above.

Seeing this, Yao once again retreated behind the lotus leaf. Jiang Fan, leaning against the rock crevice, asked in disbelief.

"What are you doing? Did you miss again?"

Hearing Jiang Fan's question, Yao quickly waved his hand.

"Not exactly. It's just that this centipede is looking for us right now. If it finds us, we're done for."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Fan found it incredibly unbelievable. He peered through the small hole he had dug.

However, to his surprise, when he looked out of the small hole, he saw only darkness. He had a bad feeling about this.

At that moment, Jiang Fan widened the small hole slightly to increase his field of vision. But even after widening it, he still couldn't see anything. He then decided to poke his head out.

To his surprise, the centipede's body was pressed right against the lotus leaf, as if searching for something. Jiang Fan immediately ducked back inside, his breathing becoming noticeably ragged.

Yao also sensed something was wrong. Seeing the completely dark opening, he realized something must be blocking them from the outside.

"I don't know if its head was in our crevice just now. Let's try."

Hearing this, Yao quickly examined the area but couldn't see anything.

The only thing they could be sure of was that it was definitely the centipede's body. The gaps in its armor were also visible. Without hesitation, Yao drew his dagger and swung it forward.

Instantly, the sound of the centipede recoiling echoed through the valley. Its powerful leg muscles flexed. Seeing this, Jiang Fan immediately charged out from behind the lotus leaf.

He had intended to fight the centipede to the death, but as he charged towards it, he realized it was even larger than he had imagined. He immediately turned back and sprinted in another direction.

Seeing this, Yao picked up his weapon and began to flee as well.

As he ran, he couldn't help but complain.

"Didn't we agree to go together? Why are you suddenly running away? Are you going to sell me out?"
