Chapter 27 Pressing Ahead, Borrowing a Camp

"Fire..."

Zhou Niannian's heart trembled upon hearing Wang Jun's words.

With Jiang Fan unconscious and gravely ill, she was the only one facing these two people.

Though one of them remained silent, he was an undeniable presence Zhou Niannian couldn't ignore.

She had no chance of winning if it truly came to a confrontation.

Even if they wanted to steal their belongings, she would be powerless to stop them.

With that thought, Zhou Niannian took a deep breath and made her decision.

"You can take some embers."

Her words made Wang Jun grin, and he nodded repeatedly.

"Hey, hey, thank you, big sister," he said.

"Good deeds are rewarded; you and your teammate will surely thrive here, hehe."

As he spoke, he moved quickly. He initially intended to take the entire wooden stake, but at Zhou Niannian's glare, he abandoned the idea.

Instead, he found some tinder nearby and boldly poked it into the hole where the flames burned.

It felt as though he wouldn't care if he extinguished the fire within the stake.

While tending to the fire, Wang Jun also surveyed his surroundings. Upon seeing the bamboo tubes on the ground, he picked one up without hesitation.

He drank the entire tube of water in gulps, sighed deeply, and felt completely relaxed.

This wasn't the end. He casually grabbed some wild fruits from the ground, wiped them on his clothes, and popped them into his mouth.

With a crunch, the juicy wild fruit was so sweet that his eyes squinted.

Such behavior made the viewers in the live stream frown.

Many found it hard to accept.

"What kind of person is this? Taking embers isn't enough; why is he taking their things? Doesn't he have hands and feet? Can't he gather them himself?"

"They're right in front of him, so why can't he eat them? This is called making full use of resources, don't you understand?"

"Exactly, Wang Jun isn't incapable of finding these things; he's just not used to the rainforest yet. Taking Zhou Jie's things means he fancies her."

"Indeed, these things aren't valuable. At worst, he can repay her later."

Like master, like fan.

Wang Jun's fans had mostly followed him and believed this behavior was acceptable.

The items were simply placed there, and they weren't valuable.

What was wrong with taking some?

Such actions made Zhou Niannian's fans want to curse them out.

Yao had remained silent, but he was in the same group as Wang Jun.

His fans instinctively felt the need to defend him.

They began to offer their support.

"Although what Wang Jun did was a bit much, his actions are understandable."

"I believe if Zhou Jie and her companion get into trouble later, Yao will step in to help, after all, he took their things and will surely compensate them later."

"I have to say, Zhou Jie and her companion are very lucky, but being able to gather these things means they'll find more later. This is just a temporary measure; it should be fine."

"Yes, Yao didn't take anything, clearly he didn't want to be so ruthless."

After typing that last comment, Luo Li clutched her chest, feeling her heart pounding rapidly.

She couldn't help but touch her phone screen and mutter.

"It's really not a big deal. It was all Wang Jun's doing; it has nothing to do with Yao."

She repeated this a few times, seemingly convincing herself, her heartbeat slowed, and she continued watching the live stream without any burden.

After eating and drinking his fill, Wang Jun seemed to remember something and flashed a simple smile at Zhou Niannian.

"Oh my, I was thirsty and hungry all day, I really couldn't take it anymore."

"Anyway, your camp has plenty of supplies; big sister, you won't blame me, right?"

He said this with a hint of innocence, clearly intending to be unreasonable.

The fruits painstakingly gathered, and the drinking water boiled the night before.

All were enjoyed by the man in front of her.

How could she tolerate this?!

Zhou Niannian's fists clenched, but thinking of Jiang Fan in the tent behind her, and the man who had remained silent,

She suppressed her anger, her mind reeling from it, yet she managed to say, as calmly as possible.

"It's fine."

"Ah, I knew big sister was a good person."

Hearing this, Wang Jun became even happier.

Little by little, testing the limits, he grew bolder.

He looked at the scattered wild fruits on the ground, picking and choosing only the good ones.

Anything with stains on the surface or with nicks was discarded.

The discarded fruits rolled on the ground, getting covered in all sorts of dirt.

These were the fruits Zhou Niannian had worked hard to collect early that morning to prove she wasn't a burden.

Each fruit had been like a treasure found, bringing her joy.

The happiness and anticipation from that time were still fresh in her memory.

But now, the rolling fruits on the ground felt like her heart, tossed aside without any regard.

Zhou Niannian's tightly clenched fists did not loosen, and a sour feeling spread through her heart.

She wanted to step forward and argue, but in the end, her strength was no match for two people.

Helplessness, anger, indignation, sadness...

A complex swirl of emotions surged within her.

Tears welled up in her eyes, yet they refused to fall.

Wang Jun, however, paid no mind to Zhou Niannian's feelings; he was there for her supplies.

He filled a large bag with fruits and also took two full bamboo tubes of water.

He glanced back at the silent Yao and asked casually.

"Yao, aren't you going to take anything?"

"..."

To this, Yao merely gave him a look and said nothing.

The silence was awkward.

Though it wasn't the first time, Wang Jun still felt his pride wounded, his dignity challenged.

Temporarily pushing aside his dissatisfaction with Yao, he turned his frustration towards Zhou Niannian.

With a smile that held no goodwill,

Wang Jun set his sights on Zhou Niannian's unoccupied tent, his gaze intense.

"Big sister, you see... we're friends now, aren't we?"

"I'm getting old and can't stand hardship. Last night, I just slept casually, and this morning I woke up feeling uncomfortable all over. That feeling is unbearable."

As he spoke, he waved his hands with a look of distress, portraying himself as someone who had suffered greatly.

"I know these things were found by you and your teammate."

"After all, this tent is so big, and it's a waste for you and your teammate to each have one. Why not let us have one?"

"Just pity me, an old man."

"What do you say, okay?"

Although it was a question.

He had already acted, stepping forward without hesitation, intending to snatch Zhou Niannian's tent.

This was too much!

The worst-case scenario had arrived.

Zhou Niannian could no longer tolerate it.

This person was pushing his luck and was about to dismantle their camp.

How could she allow this!

Even with Jiang Fan incapacitated, she didn't want him to wake up to find their camp utterly destroyed!

Zhou Niannian hurried forward, but it was too late to stop him.

"You can't do this!!!"

Just as Wang Jun's hand was about to touch the parachute fabric.

A hand reached across from beside him, grabbing his wrist and stopping his action.
