Chapter 163: Wolf Attack

Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Wolf Attack

Huo Jingrui leaned in close to her and asked in a low voice, "Do we need to suck out the poisoned blood?"

Yunyi waved her hand. "No need. These silver needles will help him expel all the poisoned blood."

As she spoke, another silver needle appeared in her hand. Instead of inserting it into a new acupoint, she took this needle and repeatedly pricked a specific acupoint several times.

As Huo Jingrui drew near, a pleasant scent reached his nose. He knew it was the fragrance of the young woman before him, and it evoked a strangely familiar feeling within him.

While he was lost in thought, Yunyi had already put away the silver needle. "Everything’s fine now."

The blood flowing out was now a normal color. She removed the silver needles piercing several acupoints, disinfected them with her homemade solution, and put them away. "Move him to another place."

Huo Jingrui didn’t ask why. Understanding implicitly, he directed his men to move the patient. "His color looks normal now. Do we still need to find herbs?"

Yunyi replied softly, "We don’t need an antidote. Just find some anti-inflammatory herbs to apply to his wound to prevent infection. It’s better to be cautious."

Huo Jingrui internally rejoiced that he had brought Yunyi along and silently resolved to ensure her safety.

Soon, one of his comrades returned with a snake. "Captain, we found it."

Huo Jingrui had intended to have them extract the snake gall for Yunyi, but considering it would be difficult to preserve in the heat, he said, "Just find a place and bury it." After all, without a fire, the meat was of no use.

Yunyi spoke up, "Extract the snake gall. I happen to have a small bottle of liquor with me; it’s perfect for infusing it."

After speaking, she casually picked a few large leaves from nearby, wrapped them around the head of Huo Jingrui’s flashlight to prevent light from escaping, and tied them securely. Only then did she begin to search the surroundings.

Soon, she found several Bidens plants and handed them to Huo Jingrui, who was following her. "Find a rock, crush these, and apply them to his wound." With that, she turned off the flashlight and returned it to Huo Jingrui.

She then found a flat area, sprinkled some insect- and snake-repellent powder around its perimeter, and sat down on the ground.

At a glance, one might have thought she was merely resting against a tree, but she was actually meditating to cultivate her Inner Strength.

When Huo Jingrui finished his task and came over, he saw her sitting there with her eyes closed, leaning back. He couldn’t help feeling a pang of guilt; she didn’t have to come along and endure this hardship.

But they were deep in the mountains now, and he couldn’t possibly let her leave. The area teemed with large wild animals—it was far too dangerous.

Fortunately, his men had encountered all sorts of environments during missions. Camping in the wilderness was commonplace for them, so no one complained.

However, what they hadn’t anticipated was a sudden development in the latter half of the night.

Yunyi’s hearing was sharp. Catching a sound, she said to the few soldiers on night watch, "There’s movement. Stay alert."

As she finished speaking, she ceased her meditation, rose, and nimbly climbed the large tree in front of her. Soon, she could discern the situation about two meters away. The sight of eyes glowing green in the darkness startled her. "Wake everyone! Wolves are closing in!"

None of them had been deeply asleep. Upon hearing Yunyi’s words, they all sprang into action before the night watchmen needed to rouse them.

Huo Jingrui swiftly climbed a nearby tree. After assessing the number of wolves surrounding them, he called out, "Everyone, stay calm! I estimate six wolves are approaching. Get into the trees for now!"

But the wolves were clearly targeting them. Upon reaching the base of their trees, the creatures craned their necks and began to howl upwards.

As the wolves drew nearer, Huo Jingrui had already issued instructions. The men in the trees weren’t just waiting idly; they were already fashioning makeshift clubs from sturdy branches.
