Chapter 389: Chapter 389: The dumb author quietly fixed the wrong Chapter title when no one was
looking.
"Kurama, why did you suddenly go quiet?" In the inner world, Naruto looked at Kurama, confused by his silence.
Right now, Kurama didn’t look so good—in fact, his face looked pretty bad.
He was holding back his anger, silently staring at Orochimaru and Madara outside.
"Naruto, come here. Right now." Kurama spoke in an unusually serious tone, one Naruto hadn’t heard in a long time—it reminded him of the old Kurama.
The one they once called a disaster—the Nine-Tails.
Naruto didn’t know what had happened, but he immediately straightened up. "Got it. I’ll let Granny Tsunade and the others know. I’ll ask Great-Grandpa Tobirama to teleport me there as fast as possible."
He hadn’t learned Flying Thunder God yet, so he couldn’t move on his own. Plus, he was still very far away.
That said, Naruto paused for a second and asked, "What’s going on, Kurama?"
Kurama took a deep breath. "Orochimaru tricked me. He broke down my attack into different chakra types, pulled out the Tailed Beast power, and let the Gedo Statue absorb it. Now the statue no longer needs Shukaku’s chakra."
Naruto’s eyes widened, then he seemed to realize something. "Then we need to hit Orochimaru right now while we have the chance!"
"You don’t need to tell me that," Kurama replied. But truthfully, he didn’t believe Orochimaru would come without a backup plan.
Kurama clenched his fists. "Madara has his Rinnegan back. He’s probably about to try becoming the Ten-Tails’ Jinchuriki. Get here quickly. I’ll attack and do everything I can to stop him."
"Understood." Naruto knew how serious things were. Without wasting time, he left the inner world and went to contact Tobirama.
Kurama looked down at Orochimaru and Madara, then raised his hand to form a Tailed Beast Ball.
The chakra surge quickly caught their attention. Orochimaru was the first to speak. "Madara-sama, if you still don’t trust me, that Nine-Tails could kill us both right now."
Madara didn’t say anything. He just looked at Orochimaru with a teasing, amused expression.
Orochimaru’s face tightened. "I do have a plan to hold off the Nine-Tails, and I’ve made preparations, but I—"
"—can’t hold him for long. You know how strong Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke are, so you should understand how powerful the Nine-Tails is now. Even if we work together, we still wouldn’t be able to beat him."
That part was true—Madara couldn’t deny it.
He looked up at Kurama floating in the sky and smirked. "Alright, then I’ll leave that one to you."
With Madara’s power, and the eight Tailed Beasts under Genjutsu and unable to fight back, it would only take a few seconds for him to become the Ten-Tails’ Jinchuriki. But even just a few seconds... were enough for Kurama to fire off one more blast like before.
That couldn’t happen. After getting fooled once, Kurama wouldn’t fall for it again. So those few seconds were critical—Orochimaru would have to go all out.
As Madara finished talking, Orochimaru let out a subtle breath of relief. Then, without saying anything more, he clapped his hands together in a hand sign and slammed them to the ground: "Summoning Jutsu: Edo Tensei!"
Back then, in order to keep control over Minato, who had the chakra of eight tailed beasts, he didn’t even dare summon other reanimated bodies. But now that Minato was under Madara’s control, he could finally summon more of them himself.
Three coffins rose from the ground and opened quickly, revealing the three ninja inside.
Hozuki Gengetsu, Kimimaro, and the Third Kazekage!
None of them had their own will—controlling conscious ones would take too much time, and right now, every second counted.
At the same moment, Kurama raised the massive Truth-Seeking Orb in his hand, and an overwhelming pressure spread out again.
"What a crazy strong attack," Orochimaru said as he formed hand signs without hesitation. "Full defense!"
"Summoning Technique: Triple Rashomon!"
"Water Style: Fortress Wall!" (original technique)
"Shikotsumyaku: Dance of the Early Grave!"
"Magnet Style: Iron Sand Wall!"
Four S-rank ninja went all out. The first layer of defense was the ghost-faced Rashomon gate. The second was a wall of water like a castle wall. The third was another Rashomon gate. The fourth came from the strong bone network of the Shikotsumyaku. The fifth was yet another gate. The sixth and final layer was a solid shield made from condensed black sand.
Right as the two sides clashed, Madara pressed a hand to Minato’s stomach. As Minato’s face twisted in pain, the chakra from the eight tailed beasts was pulled out again, turning into pure chakra flow—
It entered Madara’s body, and from there, was passed on to the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path below.
In just that short moment, the Truth-Seeking Orb hit the Triple Rashomon. The first gate blew apart almost instantly. The water wall slowed the orb down a little, but the second gate didn’t hold for long. The third and fourth layers made the orb go out of control and explode.
Only the final gate and the wall of black sand barely managed to block Kurama’s "casual" strike.
As the black sand peeled away, the explosion and shockwave lifted everyone’s hair. Orochimaru couldn’t help but mutter, "That was just one hit..."
It wasn’t even as crazy as the one before. If it weren’t for the Rinnegan, the Demonic Statue, and Flying Thunder God—all basically cheat-level powers—there was no way Orochimaru could’ve blocked that last hit. Now that he didn’t have any of them, he could finally feel just how outmatched normal ninja were against Kurama.
"Don’t space out now!" Kurama’s voice came from in front of the Demonic Statue.
That giant figure wasn’t far from the statue, holding two Truth-Seeking Orbs, one in each hand, hurling them toward Orochimaru and Madara.
They had to go all out just to block one orb—how were they supposed to handle two?
The three reanimated ninja quickly attacked again, blasting out ninjutsu like there was no cost.
"Water Style: Water Iron Cannon!"
"Shikotsumyaku: Dance of the Willow!"
"Magnet Style: Sand Shower!"
Useless! The power tore the three of them to shreds.
Kurama shouted as he slammed his hands together, "I won’t let you bring back the Ten-Tails!"
"Tch!" There’s no stopping it now...
As much as he hated to admit it, the truth was that against Kurama’s full-force attacks, just two hits were enough to destroy everything he had set up. Or maybe, this was simply what it meant to face someone with Six Paths-level power.
Seeing the two orbs still glowing with full energy, Orochimaru didn’t hesitate at all—he ditched Edo Tensei. At this point, it didn’t matter how many reanimations he had. It wouldn’t change a thing.
"Ninja Art: Eight-Headed Technique!"
Boom—
The massive Yamata no Orochi didn’t even get the chance to roar before all eight of its heads were blown apart by Kurama’s chakra fists. The explosion of chakra almost tore its whole body to shreds. Blood and scales flew everywhere, like a river of blood flowing over the Gedo Statue.
But... it managed to block the attack.
