Chen Wu was also utterly bewildered.
Four juvenile Iron Winged Tigers had directly pulverized the humans from the Endless Sea into meat paste.
And these people, contrary to his expectations, had not displayed any extraordinary powers to fight back against the Iron Winged Tigers.
So, all their extreme caution and hundred-percent vigilance towards the people from the Endless Sea were for nothing? They were all just mortals?
Furthermore, the noises these people had made earlier were not intentional attempts to lure the juvenile Iron Winged Tigers.
They were simply clueless, fumbling around blindly. The result was attracting the highly curious Iron Winged Tigers, nearly wiping them out.
Chen Wu took a deep breath, finally calming his turbulent emotions.
"It seems these people from the other side of the mist possess no extraordinary powers; they are just mortals. They pose no threat to Da Gan," he stated.
The Endless Sea, though incredibly bizarre, was not necessarily terrifying.
It was just that their prior ignorance of everything in the Endless Sea had made them so cautious, almost to the point of making a fool of themselves.
Watching as seven or eight people in the Giant King Tree Forest below had already been reduced to meat paste by the Iron Winged Tigers, Wang Hao couldn't help but ask,
"Captain, should we save them? Stop the Iron Winged Tigers from eating everyone."
The juvenile Iron Winged Tigers below seemed to have developed a taste for human heads.
They would grab a person, tear off their head, and chew it with a satisfying crunch, red and white matter dripping from their mouths in a gruesome display.
Chen Wu frowned, his mind in a quandary.
The deputy general's parting order was for them to not disturb these people, only to monitor them from afar.
Although he had also said to act according to the situation, Chen Wu felt it was not the time to intervene.
Because they had already ascertained the background of these people; they were all mortals.
If they were to go down and save them now, revealing their presence would be detrimental rather than beneficial.
Chen Wu shook his head, "It's not time yet. We cannot reveal ourselves."
"However, we can release some of our pressure to force those Iron Winged Tigers back and stop them from hunting further!"
The expedition team consisted of over a dozen people, and now seven or eight had died, leaving less than half.
The Iron Winged Tigers showed no signs of stopping, their four legs carrying them as they continued to pursue the fleeing team members.
Alice ran with difficulty, but her speed was gradually decreasing, her steps becoming weaker.
She was just a girl; although she exercised regularly, her stamina and endurance were clearly no match for the men.
Seeing the fierce tigers closing in behind her, Alice felt a surge of despair.
She regretted not listening to Lin Xue's advice and coming to this forest for an adventure.
She regretted even more boarding the Nix, coming to this unknown and bizarre new continent. This was not what she wanted.
Seeing that no matter how much she ran, she couldn't outrun the fierce tiger behind her, Alice simply stopped and slumped onto the leaf-strewn ground.
"Heh, I never thought I'd die at the jaws of a beast. What a pity, I haven't even been in love yet..."
Alice despaired, closing her eyes, her delicate body trembling as she quietly awaited death.
At the same time, she prayed that the fierce tiger would kill her quickly, sparing her any pain.
But after waiting for over a minute, death did not come.
"Why am I not dead yet?"
Alice's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and then she opened her eyes, only to witness a scene that shocked her to the core!
Before her, the incredibly ferocious Iron Winged Tiger was cowering on the ground, its head raised, its eyes defiantly glaring at the sky, resisting something.
This scene made Alice feel incredulous. What could have threatened this fierce tiger?
She raised her head to look at the sky but saw nothing. Yet, she could clearly feel an invisible pressure that made her body tremble.
Finally, the Iron Winged Tiger's raised head slowly lowered, letting out a low growl of unwillingness, and then it turned and swiftly fled into the depths of the forest.
The invisible pressure also dissipated with the Iron Winged Tiger's retreat.
"I survived just like that?"
Alice stood up with some effort, brushing the fallen leaves off her clothes, looking around in utter confusion.
It was too bizarre!
The incredibly fierce tiger, which had been tearing off heads like snacks, had inexplicably been scared away?
Alice couldn't understand what was happening at all.
Professor Sam appeared in the distance, hurrying towards her. He had been fortunate to survive. Seeing Alice unharmed, he showed delight, "That's great, Miss Alice, you're alright!"
He held a great appreciation for this international star who cared for an old man.
"Professor Sam, you are also unharmed!"
Alice's expression was one of pleasant surprise. After a brief exchange, both noticed the abnormal behavior of the fierce tigers.
Alice frowned, "I was about to die, and then the fierce tiger was scared off by something and ran away."
Sam also frowned, finding the matter very strange.
But then again, what on this new continent wasn't strange?
"I don't understand either, but it's a good thing," Sam said, then added, "Let's not dwell on this. Let's quickly leave this forest, or if we encounter the fierce tigers again, we'll be finished!"
Alice nodded emphatically and ran towards the edge of the forest with Sam.
Having escaped with their lives, they discovered that out of the dozen or so people in the expedition team, only six had survived.
The other four survivors were Jack, the curly-haired man, and a man and a woman.
The remaining nine people had remained in the forest forever.
When the people in the camp learned of the expedition team's fate, it instantly caused a huge uproar!
Captain Jin Wen even ordered the international bodyguards to aim their weapons at the forest, to prevent the fierce tigers mentioned by the expedition team from emerging.
"What!? Nine people from the expedition team died, and you were almost eaten by a fierce tiger monster?"
Lin Xue looked at the exhausted Alice in shock, her mind unable to process it immediately.
People had died, and nine of them at that.
According to Alice's account, two of the nine deceased were people she knew and had spoken with a few times.
Now that they were separated by death, the recently adult Lin Xue found it hard to accept.
"Yes, they all died, and they died horribly!"
Alice's eyes were filled with fear as she spoke, having witnessed firsthand the fierce tigers biting off their companions' heads, chewing them like snacks, with blood and brains splattering.
The mere thought of this gruesome scene made her want to vomit.
Lin Xue quickly supported Alice, stroking her back with her hand and comforting her,
"Don't be afraid, you're safe now, and the fierce tiger didn't pursue you. You're safe."
Alice's stomach felt a little better, but her expression remained fearful.
Meanwhile, Lin Wencheng was with Sam. The two old men were not optimistic about the situation on the new continent.
