The only source of light in the woodshed was the moonlight from the skylight. Suddenly covered by a dark shadow, the woodshed was plunged into pitch-black darkness.
The developer, chubby Lu Ming, trembled all over, his eyes wide with terror, his mouth instinctively opening to scream, only to be silenced by Shi Yu, whose nickname was Little Tiger Fang, covering his mouth with a quick hand.
Outside, a massive shadow landed silently, a chilling aura permeating the entire village. The sounds of beasts panting could be heard intermittently, constantly roaming outside.
Lu Zhi clearly felt the presence of an unknown creature outside the woodshed. It was enormous in size but as light as a feather.
Everyone held their breath, afraid to make a sound or move rashly. After an unknown period, the shadow obscuring the skylight gradually disappeared, and the moonlight once again seeped into the woodshed.
The few exchanged glances. Suddenly, Shen Qi pulled Lu Zhi to a corner amongst a pile of firewood.
Lu Zhi knew Shen Qi wouldn't make a useless move. When he looked at Yan Shao, Yan Shao had already waved his hand, signaling everyone to move out of the skylight's view.
As everyone cautiously hid in the corner, a pair of bloodthirsty beastly eyes suddenly appeared in the skylight. The narrow, vertical pupils stared intently into the woodshed. The beast's saliva dripped onto the roof, making a ticking sound. After about three minutes, those beastly eyes finally left the skylight.
It was still quiet outside, but no one dared to guarantee that the monster outside had left, or if it was cunningly hiding in the dark, watching the woodshed, waiting for them to make a sound to be discovered.
Shen Qi: "It's gone."
*Thump—*
The chubby Lu Ming's legs went weak, and he fell to the ground, exclaiming in terror, "Monsters..."
Lu Zhi's expression was grave. "Is it a demon from here? Those eyes resemble the pupils of some kind of beast."
"Good heavens, that eyeball alone was the size of a basketball. This small village would be flattened in minutes?" Jiang Yue's skin crawled.
"Villages that have faith and worship deities will receive protection," Yan Shao mused. "What will be our objective?"
They knew the background of the story but hadn't received their objective yet.
Lu Zhi blurted out, "Could the Cage of God have network lag?"
"Pfft—" Li Le, the little bald monk, was amused by Lu Zhi's words. "Your mentality is truly extraordinary. You're still in the mood for jokes at a time like this."
Shi Yu, with his small tiger fangs, even chuckled. "This is my first time experiencing something like this. I'm so scared my legs are trembling. You're so calm, it's probably not your first time in a Cage of God, right?"
Lu Zhi nodded. "Second time."
"Hiss... Only the second time? A rookie?" Shi Yu was surprised. "Alright, you're really daring. Interested in joining our Special Department Second Team?"
Li Le suddenly tugged Shi Yu's arm, signaling him. He then said to Lu Zhi, "What should we do next?"
Lu Zhi thought for a moment. "Shouldn't we wait until dawn and then act accordingly? It's not safe at night when we've just arrived."
Li Le gave a thumbs-up. "Heroes think alike. Let's decide on this. We'll rest individually tonight."
After speaking, he pulled the bewildered Shi Yu to a corner and whispered in his ear, "Are you an idiot? Didn't you hear them introduce themselves earlier?"
Shi Yu looked confused and said, "I heard them. The approachable one is Lu Zhi, the quiet one is Shen Qi... Wait!" Shi Yu's eyes slowly widened. "No, could it be the Shen team I know?"
"It's not impossible for people to have the same name, but with him and the one beside him named Lu Zhi, do you think it's just a coincidence that two people share the same name?" Li Le rolled his eyes. "You were actually trying to poach someone right to their face?"
Shi Yu shivered, suddenly realizing he had been dancing on the edge of a knife. He tremblingly asked, "Shen... Shen team wouldn't be that petty, would they?"
"Let's hope so." Li Le glanced at Shen Qi and Lu Zhi, his brow furrowed. "Actually, I'm more worried. Is this Cage of God really just A-class?"
Would a Cage of God that required Shen Qi's presence be merely an A-class one?
Lu Zhi had no sleep at all. He looked out from the crack in the woodshed door. It was a dark expanse, and he couldn't see anything.
Suddenly, a line of text reappeared in his mind.
