Chapter 124 The Objective

Yan Cheng thought of Wang Mujin's previous reply and Wang Muman's smile. He suddenly felt in his heart that not every girl was lucky. He had always heard his father nag about wanting a younger sister, but his mother refused, saying they were both so busy and didn't want another child to be like her, without parental care. His father sighed upon hearing this and abandoned the idea.

In fact, his father had always doted on little girls and often joked about him bringing one home, even criticizing him as if their family favored daughters over sons. This made Yan Cheng believe that all the girls around him were fortunate.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, they requested a private room. Wang Muman felt a bit reserved seeing she was the only woman, mainly due to Yan Cheng's father. She didn't know what to say to him as they weren't very familiar.

However, Yan Cheng's father sat far from her, which put her at ease.

"Thank you, Mujin, for taking my elder to the hospital last time!" Yan Cheng's father raised his glass, though he only poured some juice.

"You're welcome. I should thank Grandma for taking care of Manman!" Wang Mujin toasted him.

Wang Muman was too engrossed in eating; the food was simply delicious. Her eyes would light up every time a dish was served.

As the lazy Susan spun, Wang Muman stared at Wang Mujin's chopsticks. But Wang Mujin was constantly talking to Yan Cheng's father, and she felt too awkward to turn it. She wanted to signal her brother, but he never looked at her.

Wang Muman was in a dilemma. She really wanted to eat that dish and gazed longingly at the one being picked up.

"Brother Jin, I want that dish you have," Yan Cheng said, causing Wang Mujin to look at him and nod. xxs

The lazy Susan didn't turn the dish towards Yan Cheng.

Wang Muman stared at the dish and realized it had already turned towards her.

Yan Cheng didn't look at Wang Muman, simply picking up the dish placed in front of him.

"Didn't you want this one?" Wang Mujin asked, confused by his actions.

"I want this one now."

Yan Cheng's father understood his son's intentions and had been observing. When they were talking earlier, Yan Cheng had clearly glanced at Wang Muman, and he never proactively stated what he wanted to eat at the dinner table.

Wang Muman was delighted and happily ate the dish, not noticing anything amiss.

After a while, Yan Cheng's father began to voice his thoughts: "Mujin, are you busy recently?"

"I was just promoted, and the business trips have only increased. I'm quite busy," Wang Mujin thought that even though he had moved to a less crowded office, he had no time to sit, which made him feel uncomfortable.

"Do you have any thoughts about getting married?" Yan Cheng's father continued to pose questions.

"Not yet. I have a girlfriend, but we haven't been together long. We need to work things out."

"Look at you, you're not young anymore, your work is busy, and you need to start a family. Your father is also busy. During Manman's crucial second and third years of high school, who will take care of her?" Yan Cheng's father didn't speak ill of Wang's father, just mentioned it briefly.

"I..." Wang Mujin had never considered this issue. They had managed all these years, and Wang Muman's middle school entrance exams had passed as usual.

"Mujin, my wife and I have decided to take turns taking care of Chengzi for a year or two. If you trust us, you can leave Manman with us. During her second and third years of high school, she wouldn't have to stay in the dormitory, and she could have more time to study. Her nutrition could also be guaranteed. You can just think of it as finding a nanny for Manman," Yan Cheng's father revealed his intention.

This left Wang Mujin a bit stunned; it was beyond his acceptance. Yan Cheng and Wang Muman were even more so, their mouths agape.

Yan Cheng signaled Yan Cheng's father, but unexpectedly, his father didn't even look at him.
