Yin Jing blinked in a bit of confusion. Though Shen Yue could not see, she could sense the anxious aura radiating from Yin Jing.
Sensing that something was amiss, she maintained a calm demeanor. “Who are you bringing medicine for?”
Yin Jing clutched the tray in her hand. “This bowl is for Rong Hua to recuperate. He’s been coughing a lot lately, and I wanted to do something for him.”
The maiden’s voice was gentle. Shen Yue, unable to see, could not discern if her words were true or false.
Shen Yue asked no further questions, instead changing the subject. “Do you like Rong Hua?”
Yin Jing hadn't expected such a sudden question. Her fair face instantly flushed, and she stammered shyly, like a maiden just experiencing her first love.
“Immortal Master, why do you suddenly ask this?”
Shen Yue remained as aloof and breathtakingly beautiful as ever, the white cloth soft against her eyes. “Rong Hua likes you.”
This time, Yin Jing fell silent. Of course, she could sense that Rong Hua treated her a little differently than others. However, the difference was subtle, not unique. Being sensitive, she could also perceive that Rong Hua harbored no romantic feelings for her. Perhaps he had some liking, but it was far from enough.
Perhaps in others’ eyes, Rong Hua liked her. In reality, only she, who was within it, could understand.
It was not so.
However, she was confident that she could make Rong Hua fall in love with her. It was only a matter of time.
With this thought, Yin Jing bashfully asked, “How did Immortal Master know?”
This was a roundabout way of admitting it.
Shen Yue mused inwardly that anyone with eyes could see it.
“I understand Rong Hua. I’ve never seen him so attentive to another woman.”
Yin Jing’s face grew even redder, and she began to harbor fantasies. Perhaps Rong Hua wasn't as cold as he appeared. In fact, he might have feelings for her, but was simply poor at expressing them.
The more she thought about it, the redder Yin Jing’s face became, her eyes seeming to hold a sparkle. She looked at the immortal before her, dressed in snow-white, with an unspoken expectation. “Then will Immortal Master fulfill our wishes?”
Disciples of the orthodox sects had too many flaws, their rules were annoyingly tedious, and they had to meddle in everything, restricting one’s every move. This was precisely why Yin Jing disliked the orthodox sects.
Only Rong Hua was different.
The immortal whose eyes were covered by white cloth pursed her refined eyebrows and her lips, as tender and full as begonia petals. “As long as you both have feelings for each other, I naturally will not object. Instead, I will host a grand wedding banquet for you two.”
Yin Jing was initially shocked, then delighted. She found the Immortal Master to be different as well, not at all rigid or feudal, and exceptionally easy to talk to.
Moreover, although the Immortal Master spoke little, Yin Jing could tell that she doted on Rong Hua immensely, like an ordinary father doting on his child.
Yin Jing broke into a wide, sweet smile. “Thank you, Immortal Master.”
Shen Yue nodded and slowly walked away. Of course, her words were merely a test. A heroine and a villain were destined not to be together.
Her words were merely to gauge the depth of the heroine’s feelings for the villain. The result was: the suitor was willing, and the maiden was receptive.
Shen Yue thought it made sense. The current Rong Hua was mentally sound and likely handsome. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have captivated the heroine. He was just a bit taciturn, which added to his mysterious and aloof aura.
Didn’t girls fall for the aloof persona?
It was normal for her to be smitten.
—
Yin Jing brought the medicine into her room. Ensuring the medicine hadn't cooled, she called out towards a dark corner, “Come out and drink your medicine.”
A person emerged from the shadowy corner. He was eight feet tall, his brows filled with fierce energy, and a long scar ran from his brow to his chin, marking him as no benevolent figure.
This was the demonic creature the elders had spoken of.
Kong Rong glanced at the medicine and bowed to Yin Jing. “Thank you, Miss Yin.”
Yin Jing had saved him merely because they were of the same race. She accepted the bow. “Staying here is not a long-term solution. Once your injuries have mostly healed, I will escort you away from Qingyun Sect.”
Kong Rong gratefully bowed again.
After Kong Rong finished his medicine, Yin Jing asked, “I heard you trespassed into Lingfeng Pavilion and injured people?”
Kong Rong showed no guilt upon hearing this. He answered frankly, “Indeed. Those few brash youths were no match for me. This Qingyun Sect is truly declining.”
Yin Jing’s expression turned slightly cold. “Why did you injure them?”
Kong Rong retorted, “So what if I injured them? How much of our demon race’s blood has been spilled by their swords! Are you siding with these hypocrites?”
Yin Jing’s anger flared. “But you can’t just injure people carelessly! Do you know this is Qingxin Hall? If you’re found, you’ll be dead!”
Kong Rong chuckled. “Aren’t you here to help me? I’m not afraid.”
“I am afraid!”
Yin Jing somewhat regretted impulsively saving Kong Rong back then, but it was too late for regrets. She could only think of ways to get Kong Rong out.
The Qingyun Sect’s barrier enveloped the entire mountain, but there were still loopholes.
This was something Yin Jing had discovered through careful investigation. When night deepened, Yin Jing took Kong Rong. She had specifically found him a Qingyun Sect disciple's robe, which wasn't very conspicuous.
There were disciples patrolling along the way. Yin Jing and Kong Rong carefully dodged them. It took them over two hours to reach the northwest side.
This was where the barrier was weakest.
Yin Jing was extremely flustered. She kept looking back as they walked. As soon as she got Kong Rong here, Yin Jing eagerly said, “I’m leaving now.”
She turned to leave, but Kong Rong stopped her. “Why are you still staying here? Aren’t you leaving with me?”
Yin Jing replied without hesitation, “I’m not leaving.”
Kong Rong simply thought Yin Jing was crazy. “If you’re discovered by the people of Qingyun Sect, you’ll only meet death. Why stay here and live in fear?”
As he spoke, he began to pull Yin Jing, wanting to take her away. They were both of the demon race, and Yin Jing had saved his life. He couldn’t just watch Yin Jing walk to her doom.
Yin Jing was almost driven mad. She struggled incessantly, “I’m not leaving! If you want to leave, leave by yourself. Don’t bother about me!”
“No, I can’t watch you go to your death.”
Yin Jing: “……”
She really wanted to stab this idiot to death. Was she truly insane to save such a creature?
Just as the two were pushing and pulling each other, a bright light suddenly shone upon them.
It was the Moon Pearl, floating in mid-air, illuminating the surroundings as if it were broad daylight.
Yin Jing’s face was numb. She was mentally cursing Kong Rong’s mother.
He was told to leave alone, but he refused. Even if he refused to leave, he insisted on dragging her along. Now, they were both caught. Let them be destroyed together.
“Neither of you will be leaving today.”
