Chapter 234 If Beauty Were a Sin, Then She Was Unforgivable (56)

Jiang Wei drove, the vehicles were motorcycles.

Putting on his helmet, Shen Yue hugged the young man's lean waist. Jiang Wei started the motorcycle's engine. The whistling wind was largely blocked by him. The wind was strong, blowing her hair into disarray.

Sensing the girl's arms tightening around his waist, Jiang Wei reached back and tucked her exposed fingers into his pockets before slowing down.

Before long, they arrived home.

Shen Yue took off her helmet and dismounted. Jiang Wei removed his helmet, his jawline sharp and smooth, his eyelashes cast down.

They looked at each other without speaking. Shen Yue handed him the helmet, her fingers chilled.

"Jiang Wei." Under the dim streetlamp, only a small light was visible. Her eyes were beautiful, her fair cheeks like flawless jade, her eyelashes long and dark. "You think the same way as Song Yan, don't you?"

Her clear, dark eyes seemed transparent enough to see through all the dirt in the world, to penetrate the ugliest desires within people's hearts.

Her slender, frail figure cast a shadow on the ground.

Jiang Wei's expression seemed somewhat stiff.

"...I understand Qingzhen very well." He frowned, his voice deeper than usual, as if slightly impatient.

This simple sentence seemed to answer all the questions.

Shen Yue lowered her eyes to the ground, her hair soft, her ears pale. She spoke calmly, "Alright then, let's break up."

Silence ensued.

The air seemed to freeze.

He sat on the motorcycle, his legs long, his fingers clenching and unclenching the helmet in his hand, appearing anxious.

"Why? Weren't we fine? Why bring this up again?" He swung his long leg over the motorcycle and stood before the girl, taking several deep breaths to suppress the surging anger.

His tone sounded very displeased.

Shen Yue didn't understand the reason for his displeasure.

She looked up, carefully observing the man's expression.

Jiang Wei's face was clouded with intense frustration. His gaze, looking down at her, was somewhat gloomy. His thin lips were pressed into a tight line, like magma beneath a volcano.

Unfortunately, she saw nothing on that face but frustration and impatience.

Perhaps he felt Shen Yue was being unreasonable now.

Regarding Bai Qingzhen's matter, Jiang Wei hadn't asked a single question. This wasn't trust, but certainty; he felt it was Shen Yue's fault, and Bai Qingzhen was the victim. Not asking didn't mean he didn't care; it was more like indifference.

This indifference was directed at whom, she didn't know.

Seeing the young man's expression, Shen Yue paused and spoke softly, "Bai Qingzhen is lying in the hospital. I harmed her. Aren't you blaming me?"

It was a seemingly simple question, devoid of any strong emotion.

She just wanted an answer.

Jiang Wei's gloomy expression stiffened. He frowned slightly, still exuding a strange restlessness, yet his brows revealed confusion and incomprehension.

"You..."

Shen Yue waited for a moment, but only received this one word. She couldn't describe how she felt, perhaps disappointed.

The persistent girl, she simply wanted an answer, wanted to know if Jiang Wei believed her. But Jiang Wei's hesitant attitude extinguished the courage she had finally mustered to be angry.

She shouldn't have expectations of anyone.

"Do you like me?" Shen Yue asked the question again, this time with a hint of seriousness.

Jiang Wei stared at the girl blankly, his face expressionless, but his ears inexplicably turned red.

He parted his lips, but ultimately said nothing.

This answer was expected, and Shen Yue didn't feel sad, as she had harbored no hope.

Shen Yue smiled, her eyes curving, beautiful and clear.

Looking at the girl's smile, Jiang Wei suddenly felt a pang of irritation for some reason. His fingers, hanging at his sides, twitched but didn't move.

After a pause, Jiang Wei's gaze flickered, and he subtly avoided her eyes.

In this stalemate, Shen Yue was the first to step back, widening the distance between them.

Jiang Wei's gaze locked onto her again involuntarily. Seeing the girl step back, his brows furrowed even tighter.

The girl lowered her head. Her long, dense eyelashes cast a deep shadow beneath her pale eyelids. The mole on her nose was somewhat vivid. She pursed her lips, not looking like she was smiling.

"I understand."

She said this.

Jiang Wei's eyelids trembled. He looked at the girl hesitantly.

He didn't quite understand what she understood.

"You can go back." When the girl looked up, her expression was normal, a faint smile on her face.

Jiang Wei's expression seemed to pause, then he gave a very soft "Mm."

Shen Yue turned away first. Her back was very straight, but Jiang Wei noticed that her body was trembling slightly.

Like a magnolia flower weathered by frost.

Fragile, delicate.

He wasn't sure if it was an illusion, but he thought he saw a glint of tears, which quickly vanished, as if it were just a mirage.

Shen Yue went to the hospital to see Shen Jiayi. When she arrived, Shen Jiayi was already asleep. She would begin preparations for surgery in a few days. After a successful operation, the possibility of recurrence would be very small.

After a short while, Shen Jiayi woke up. Seeing the girl by her bedside, she instinctively smiled.

"You're here."

Shen Jiayi was indeed naive, but she also knew that she was probably not just ordinarily ill.

Shen Yue nodded and smiled too, "You'll be able to be discharged soon."

Seeing the girl's smile, Shen Jiayi blinked, feeling flattered and overwhelmed. For some reason, her eyes turned red. She took the girl's hand and choked back, tears of joy welling up, "Good, good, Yueyue, I've wronged you over the past years."

Shen Yue's body stiffened. In the end, she didn't pull her hand away. She lowered her gaze, "Everything is in the past. Let's just live well from now on."

A corner of the iceberg had melted. There were no lingering grudges among family members.

Shen Yue ultimately softened towards such a woman.

Shen Jiayi wanted to smile, but tears streamed down her face. She frantically wiped them away, "I, I'm just so happy. Yueyue, do you know how long I've waited to hear you say that?"

The woman, as a mother, cried like a child, sobbing and clearly distraught.

Shen Yue found it amusing. She reached out and wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes.

In the dead of night, even the moon was obscured by dark clouds. Winter was approaching, and the temperature at night was very low.

A ringing phone broke the tranquility of the evening.

Shen Yue woke up startled from her dream and answered the call.

She suspected she was still dreaming, otherwise, why would her vision seem blurry?

Without even changing her clothes, she threw on a jacket and rushed to the hospital. However, what awaited her was still a cold, lifeless body.
