The man's fingers seemed to be digging into her bones. Shen Yue looked down and met his gaze, their faces very close.
Shen Yue could even feel the heat of his breath on her skin. He was still smiling, but his eyes were chillingly cold.
"Shen Yue, let me tell you something else. Do you want to hear it?"
Shen Yue bit her lip tightly.
Lu Jin didn't seem to care about her silence, continuing on his own. "Six months ago, Xie Jiangsheng already gave you to me."
Seeing Shen Yue's pupils contract sharply, he let go and grinned widely.
"So, don't play coy with me."
His dark eyes loomed closer. Shen Yue felt a strong, unfamiliar masculine aura wash over her. Lu Jin's voice suddenly softened. "Yueyue, be good, and I'll treat you well. Don't make me angry anymore."
He always followed a slap with a candy.
The hot breath rushed towards her, his lips puckering to kiss her forcefully.
As if sensing it, Shen Yue quickly turned her face away.
The kiss landed on her cheek, the soft, smooth touch leaving a lingering sensation.
Lu Jin wasn't angered by her avoidance. Instead, he kissed that small patch of fair skin with infatuation, his touch not too hard, as if savoring it.
Shen Yue frowned deeply, her face growing paler, almost translucent. She bit her lower lip until it was white.
*Bang bang bang—*
A series of breaking sounds rescued Shen Yue. After all, this was outdoors, and Lu Jin wouldn't go too far. He took a step back, reverting to his outwardly respectable, yet inwardly beastly demeanor.
As she walked out of the corner, Shen Yue brushed past a man dressed in black. He was heavily covered, wearing a hat and a mask, with a tall and sturdy build.
For some reason, he gave her a familiar feeling.
Shen Yue couldn't help but glance at him a couple more times.
But very soon, her face was grabbed back.
Lu Jin's expression was somewhat distorted, his tone gentle, "Is she very beautiful?"
Shen Yue's eyelashes drooped slightly. Her lips were vibrant, yet her facial features were soft and clean, creating a strikingly beautiful contrast.
In front of Lu Jin, she always became unnaturally silent.
—
Shen Yue returned home very late, and an uninvited guest was waiting at the door.
The man was dressed in a sharp suit, tall and upright, with handsome, refined features and gold-rimmed glasses, completely out of place in this dilapidated area.
Shen Yue froze, then quickly frowned, her eyelashes drooping. She adopted a cold attitude, as if treating a stranger.
"Mr. Xie, what is it?"
Seemingly stung by Shen Yue's indifference, Xie Jiangsheng took a moment before speaking. "You live in a place like this?"
This place was run-down and dirty. If it weren't for Shen Yue, Xie Jiangsheng wouldn't have stayed for another minute.
Shen Yue looked down and took out her key from her bag. Her beautiful, delicate face was pale and sickly, and she appeared to have grown thinner.
"This doesn't seem to be related to you, Mr. Xie."
The man's eyes behind his glasses trembled slightly. The woman had indeed lost a lot of weight. Her exposed neck was long and slender, her wrists were so thin, and her face was a sickly pale.
She looked as if a slight gust of wind would blow her away.
While she appeared to be looking for her key, her long, fair fingers trembled unconsciously, her composure far from the calm she projected.
Xie Jiangsheng's eyelids twitched. It was as if he had been struck by the sight before him, and he immediately looked away.
The atmosphere was awkward and silent, making Xie Jiangsheng uncomfortable. His heart felt as if it were being squeezed by a pair of invisible hands, leaving him restless and anxious.
"Come back with me," Xie Jiangsheng said. "Don't be angry with me anymore. I admit I did things wrong before, and I apologize."
Xie Jiangsheng finally lowered his proud head.
Shen Yue didn't find her key in her bag. She thought she might have forgotten to take it; her memory had been getting worse lately.
She turned to look at Xie Jiangsheng.
"Mr. Xie, I'm not angry. What I said was the truth, not just to provoke you."
The woman's features were clean, like a white magnolia blooming on a branch under the moonlight.
Her gentle voice, to others, would be like a feather falling on a lake, creating ripples.
Shen Yue ignored the man's unreadable expression and continued, "Mr. Xie, you already have a family. Please don't come looking for me anymore. It will cause unnecessary misunderstandings. I know you are a man who dislikes trouble."
It was very late, and Shen Yue was tired. However, she still offered the man a faint smile, a shallow dimple appearing. "Is there anything else, Mr. Xie?"
