Xie Jiangsheng's expression completely faded, his voice extremely faint, carrying a chilling aura.
"What do you think?"
The man threw the question back. He wore a black suit, his face habitually holding a condescending air.
Shen Yue's heart tightened, her face turned pale. She forced a faint smile, her tone muddled, not even knowing what she was saying.
"I, I definitely believe you! As long as you say he's deceiving me, that what he said isn't true, tell me, and I'll believe it."
Xie Jiangsheng lowered his head slightly, his fair face exquisitely handsome, but his eyes were like a deep, unfathomable pool.
He was silent for a moment, his gaze deep and distant.
His furrowed brow relaxed, and Xie Jiangsheng said, "It's true."
The world spun, darkness descended before her eyes, as if she had fallen into an abyss. Her temples throbbed, as if pierced by countless sharp needles. The pain was so intense that Shen Yue gritted her teeth, unable to hear anything else.
As if finding her state pitiable, Xie Jiangsheng stepped closer, looking down at the pale, translucent woman. He blocked the light from above, his face hidden in shadow, his voice gentle, "But I love you. That's true."
Shen Yue's eyelashes trembled violently. Her small face was snow-white and fragile, her lips strikingly red, currently bitten fiercely by her white teeth.
She was stunned for a long time, utterly confused. She didn't quite understand his words and asked with naive innocence, "You love me? Then what about your wife?"
Marriage was supposed to be a sacred and faithful bond, a symbol of love, an expression of happiness.
What a beautiful thing it was.
Xie Jiangsheng leaned down, freeing her tightly clamped lower lip with his fingertip. Her soft lower lip was bitten to a vivid redness. A dark, swirling ink filled his eyes, and his voice was deep, "Those things don't matter. You only need to know that I only love you. I will give you the best. Apart from the title of Mrs. Xie, I can give you anything you desire."
Shen Yue frowned in disbelief and took a step back, her eyes instantly reddening, a mist gathering in them.
"You..." Shen Yue shook her head extremely slowly, her slender shoulders trembling slightly, her soft voice hoarse. "How can you say such a thing?"
Xie Jiangsheng frowned, remaining silent.
Her long, dense lashes were wet with tears, like lilies touched by the dew, trembling precariously in the cold wind.
Her voice was very soft, but the emotion it carried was as turbulent as a river.
"Mr. Xie, what do you take me for?"
Although Shen Yue had a gentle nature, her bottom line would not be trampled upon.
After a moment of silence, Shen Yue quietly changed the subject, "Mr. Xie, do you still want to eat this bowl of beef noodles?"
Xie Jiangsheng's furrowed brow remained. He glanced at the steaming beef noodles on the table, then casually averted his gaze. He tugged at his tie and collar, his movements rough. The first button was directly ripped off as his fingers impatiently pressed against his forehead. "You weren't like this before."
Shen Yue's face was pale, unnaturally so. She remained quiet for a long time, then asked softly, "Then what was I like before?"
Xie Jiangsheng pinched the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes tightly. His breathing deepened, and after a while, he opened them. "Shen Yue, before you lost your memory, you were the one who provoked me. I never hid the fact that I had a family; it was no secret. You were willing to stay by my side willingly before, and I never forced you. All of this was by your own volition. The benefits I gave you were substantial, and I never treated you unfairly. There's no need for you to question me or patronize me from the position of a victim."
A flush of vibrant red bloomed at the corner of her eyes. Shen Yue gasped for breath, tears streaming down from her eyes. "This isn't what I want..."
"Then what do you want?" Xie Jiangsheng stared at her, his eyes piercingly cold. From his frigid expression, she could sense his suppressed anger. "Do you want to enter the Xie family? Haven't I given you enough? Shen Yue, one cannot be too greedy. You are the one I love, and I am willing to treat you well. Isn't that enough? You say this isn't what you want, yet you've never refused the benefits I've given you. Did you not approach me, did you not get into my bed, for these very reasons?"
Shen Yue looked at him.
Xie Jiangsheng said, "Haven't I treated you well enough?"
Shen Yue said hoarsely, "Mr. Xie has treated me very well."
Xie Jiangsheng lit a cigarette and smoked in silence. Wisps of smoke rose, casting a shadow over his face. He remained silent.
"After I lost my memory, Mr. Xie was the one who treated me the best." Shen Yue said softly. "I don't remember anything, know nothing, understand nothing. Mr. Xie paid for my medical expenses and never gave up on me. To put it bluntly, if it weren't for Mr. Xie, I wouldn't be standing here safe and sound."
"Mr. Xie is my benefactor. Over this long period of acquaintance, I have indeed fallen in love with you."
"You are very good, very outstanding, and I can't help but like you."
"But Mr. Xie, you can't take advantage of my affection to bully me..."
Xie Jiangsheng's furrowed brow remained. He glanced at the steaming beef noodles on the table, then casually averted his gaze. He tugged at his tie and collar, his movements rough.
