After A Mei took the two children upstairs, she sent them back to their rooms, but she herself hid in the corridor to eavesdrop on their conversation.
She had cried and said she wouldn't leave with the children first, but it was all an act.
In fact, she most hoped that Lü Yuanhong would completely fail and be arrested by the police, so that she could be free with her two children.
But she had followed Lü Yuanhong for so many years, and she had seen him go through great storms and always emerge unscathed.
So, with the current situation, it was still uncertain whether Lü Yuanhong would be utterly defeated. She could only continue to act weak and worried as before, with tears streaming down her face.
However, when she heard Lü Yuanhong questioning A Ban, it was quite interesting. Could A Ban really be a police informant? Which police force would it be, Southeast Asia or Lan Cheng?
She had to find out if A Ban was an informant before Lü Yuanhong did. Perhaps she could help A Ban.
Qin Tianyi stood in the chilly night air, sensing that Lü Yuanhong was suspecting him again.
But Lü Yuanhong had only taken him and A Nan to the factory not long ago, and then the factory had an accident. It was only natural that he would suspect them.
Now, all he could do was hope that Su Kangxi's interrogation of the arrested individuals would yield a breakthrough.
With witnesses and evidence, and proof of the factory's connection to Lü Yuanhong, Su Kangxi should be able to arrest Lü Yuanhong.
Moreover, Lü Yuanhong had just mentioned that a batch of raw materials was arriving. The raw materials he spoke of were most likely used for the factory to manufacture drugs.
He also needed to find an opportunity to relay this information to Su Kangxi, to ascertain the arrival time and dock of the raw materials. If the police could intercept them before they were destroyed, it would be another major piece of evidence against Lü Yuanhong.
...
The next day, Qin Tianyi, having not slept all night, caught up on sleep in his basement quarters.
But after he started his shift with the other bodyguards, he couldn't fall asleep. His mind was occupied with the progress of Su Kangxi's interrogation and what countermeasures Lü Yuanhong would take today.
He lay on the hard, narrow single bed. After finally managing to doze off, he felt a soft, slender hand caress him in his sleep.
He instinctively grabbed the hand and, in his groggy state, reflexively said, "Su Su, stop playing..."
"Who is Su Su?" someone whispered into his ear, their breath warm and fragrant.
This voice wasn't Su Su's. He suddenly woke up, seeing A Mei sitting by his bed, her hand still inside his shirt. Startled, he quickly sat up.
"Miss A Mei, please conduct yourself with dignity and do not come to my quarters again."
A Mei smiled, withdrawing her hand, and pressed, "Who is the woman you called Su Su just now? Your dream lover, or your girlfriend? It seems you haven't been without contact with women, so why are you acting so scared of me?"
"You are Mr. Lü's woman, and I am Mr. Lü's subordinate. There can never be any intersection between us." Qin Tianyi was fully awake and had calmed down.
"Oh." A Mei glanced around his room, stood up, and began to rummage through his clothes. "Don't worry, Mr. Lü just took A Nan out on business. Do you know what that means?"
Qin Tianyi did not respond. He got out of bed and stopped her from messing with his things. "What are you doing? Please leave."
"You must have another phone to contact the outside world, right?" A Mei just wanted to confirm her suspicion that the police informant was indeed A Ban.
Qin Tianyi blocked her directly, trying to push her out of the room. "I don't understand what you're talking about. Get out, get out!"
A Mei, unbothered, laughed instead of getting angry. "Mr. Lü only took A Nan with him and didn't even call you. Do you know what that means?"
Qin Tianyi had pushed her to the door and asked, "What does it mean?"
"It means he trusts A Nan and not you. In his heart, he already believes you are the mole," A Mei said with a chuckle.
Qin Tianyi retorted, "You don't need to sow discord. Mr. Lü didn't call me simply because I didn't sleep last night and was sleeping during the day."
"Whether you're genuinely confused or pretending, whether you're the real mole or a fake one, I just don't want anything to happen to you," A Mei said, leaning into his embrace again.
Qin Tianyi, unsure if she was sent by Lü Yuanhong to test him, pushed her forcefully out the door, immediately closed the door, and locked it.
This woman was too troublesome, always provoking him. It seemed Lü Yuanhong couldn't satisfy her at all.
A Mei was not angry at being shut out. She continued to speak from outside the door, "Actually, our goals are the same. You want to help the police catch him, and I want to escape his control and gain freedom. Whether you believe me or not, only I can help you. Otherwise, you will disappear from this world without a trace, just like other informants before."
Qin Tianyi did not respond from inside the room. He needed to figure out if what she said was true. Lü Yuanhong had gone out, and only with A Nan?
After a while, he could no longer hear any movement outside the door. A Mei must have left.
He slowly opened his room door and walked around the basement, confirming that it was empty.
He went from the basement to the ground floor and didn't see A Mei again. He only saw two bodyguards on duty during the day.
"It's so quiet today. Where is Mr. Lü?" he asked casually.
One of the bodyguards replied, "He went out in the morning and hasn't returned yet. Miss A Mei was walking around outside earlier and has also returned to the house."
Qin Tianyi said "oh" and yawned, "I'm going back down to sleep."
He returned to the basement, closed his room door. This was the best opportunity to send a message to Su Kangxi.
He quickly changed the phone card and sent a message asking about the progress of the interrogation and that Lü Yuanhong would be receiving a batch of raw materials in Lan Cheng soon.
He waited for a long time but didn't get a reply from Su Kangxi. He figured he must be busy and didn't have time to check his phone.
He patiently waited a bit longer, noticed the signal weakening and then disappearing. He then heard hurried footsteps outside his room. He quickly took out the phone card he had used to contact Su Kangxi. Before he could put the card away, he heard someone knocking on the door, so he had to hide the card under his pillow.
"A Ban, are you in there?" Lü Yuanhong's voice came from outside the door.
He responded, "Yes." He quickly placed his phone on the small table, pretending to have just woken up, rubbed his hair, and opened the door.
He saw Lü Yuanhong standing at the doorway, with a bruised and swollen A Nan behind him.
He respectfully greeted him, "Mr. Lü, why are you here? You could have just sent someone to tell me if there was anything."
Lü Yuanhong smiled and said, "Nothing much. I'm here to see how A Nan proves his innocence."
Qin Tianyi didn't understand the meaning of his words for a moment. A Nan had already jumped forward and rushed into his room, saying, "I'm sorry, but if one of us is the mole, it must be you! I need to search your room!"
