You're here.
You're here.
You're here.
...
...
Suddenly, a strange sound emerged from all around. It was somewhat ethereal, yet undeniably present.
It felt as though countless eyes were fixed upon Xia Feng.
Xia Feng’s every move was under scrutiny, a sensation that was deeply unsettling.
This was precisely how Xia Feng felt, as if everything had been meticulously arranged, and upon entering this place, he was being watched.
And then, a voice said, "You've arrived."
"Arrived, my ass."
Xia Feng was so enraged that his aura surged outwards, and he vocalized, "Holy Lord? Do you enjoy resorting to underhanded tactics from the shadows?"
Xia Feng's words received no response. Then, a figure slowly emerged from the pool.
To be precise, it was an ethereal figure. The face of this figure was indistinct, but two pitch-black eyes were visible, shifting and scanning Xia Feng.
"Xia Feng, you're here," the figure spoke again.
"I am. Why attract me here with such despicable means?" Xia Feng asked, his expression unreadable, looking at the spectral form.
The spectral figure had no discernible face, so Xia Feng couldn't gauge its expression. He could only see its eyes darting around, making it look increasingly cross-eyed.
It was like building a snowman in the dead of winter, and then sticking two little black dots on its face.
"Despicable?" The spectral figure paused, then chuckled, "If you say it's despicable, then so be it."
Xia Feng hadn't expected the spectral figure to admit it so readily. Before Xia Feng could speak, the figure continued, "These are all your own methods. So if they are despicable, then you are the one calling yourself despicable."
Huh???
(⊙o⊙)...???
Xia Feng found it utterly bewildering. His own methods?
Calling himself despicable?
"What do you mean?" Xia Feng inquired.
"To be precise, I was created by you in your previous life. Until you recover your strength, I will not call you master, because you once said that I am the most arrogant of spirits, and only the previous you is worthy of being my master."
"Do you find it perplexing?"
"Do you find it unbelievable?"
"That's right. Because everything you are experiencing now was planned by yourself, and you are following your own path."
The spectral figure, unconcerned with Xia Feng's current mood, prattled on incessantly.
The information revealed by this spectral figure delivered a profound shock to Xia Feng.
His past self?
This was essentially telling him that he truly was reincarnated?
Xia Feng felt extremely frustrated and wished he could strangle the spectral figure before him. After a moment of thought, Xia Feng asked, "Alright, assuming what you say is true, then tell me, who was I in my previous life? Why did I reincarnate? Why did 'I' myself arrange a path to start anew?"
Xia Feng fired off several questions in rapid succession, all of them vital to him and demanding immediate answers.
He didn't want to miss a single one, for everyone possesses curiosity. Xia Feng's previous display of detachment stemmed from a lack of interest, but now, anything concerning himself piqued his immense curiosity.
He felt an inner discomfort if he couldn't figure these things out.
"Of the three questions you just asked, I can only answer one," the spectral figure stated.
Xia Feng's lips moved slightly as he asked, "Fine, answer one then."
"Then I'll answer the third question: why the previous you arranged a path to start anew. I do not know the answer to this question."
The spectral figure believed it had answered truthfully, but Xia Feng felt an urge to kill it.
It felt like being played for a fool.
This answer was worse than no answer at all.
Was this truly something he created in his past life?
Such an idiotic thing?
If this was indeed something he had created in his past life, then Xia Feng understood why he had reincarnated; perhaps his past self had some mental issues.
"Do you wish to die?" Xia Feng's voice was tinged with coldness.
"No, no, no. With your current strength, you cannot kill me. Only when you have fully recovered your power will you be able to."
The spectral figure feigned lifting a hand, waving it with a touch of comical flourish.
It seemed to hold Xia Feng in contempt.
Xia Feng, already displeased, was now being mocked by this entity, a situation that would surely agitate anyone.
Seeing the spectral figure’s apparent lack of fear, Xia Feng smiled, "Then I shall wait until I've fully recovered my strength, and kill you then."
"You won't. I was created by you, and you would be reluctant to kill me. Furthermore, I can help you," the spectral figure stated, completely unfazed.
"Is that so? Then you just wait and see. If I say I'll kill you, I'll kill you," Xia Feng drawled, adopting a "just you wait" demeanor. Lest the spectral figure doubt him, Xia Feng added, "You must understand, I am still me. No one can dictate my thoughts. You are now a flawed product that displeases me. Do you think I will spare you? Even if I recover my strength one day, do you believe I won't hold onto today's grievance?"
The spectral figure fell silent at Xia Feng's words, as if contemplating his statement.
It suddenly felt that Xia Feng's words held considerable merit. The former master had reincarnated as Xia Feng. Although it was the same person, his mindset was bound to have changed.
Even if he were to regain his strength and memories one day, could that guarantee Xia Feng wouldn't harbor resentment?
The spectral figure suddenly regretted its overly arrogant attitude moments ago.
