“Second Brother, don’t go on about it. Take the man away.”
Zhu the First, not wanting to be gawked at on the street, told Zhu the Second and stood aside.
Upon hearing this, Zhu the Second stopped arguing with Zhang Liunian. He sized Zhang Liunian up a few times, only to find that the man was truly handsome.
He had previously thought Zhang Liuxing was quite good-looking, but upon seeing Zhang Liunian clearly, he realized Zhang Liunian was even handsomer, excessively so. Even the male stars in Hong Kong might not compare.
“You are Zhang Liunian? You look presentable, but you’re cold-blooded, heartless, and unrighteous. If you want to save your wife, come with us now!” Zhu the Second sneered at Zhang Liunian, his hands in his pockets.
“I will not go with you.” Zhang Liunian scanned his surroundings, realizing he was surrounded by their men. Conservatively estimated, there were over a hundred of them.
He, however, had left in a hurry and hadn’t brought anyone with him. Therefore, the current situation was not very favorable for him.
But he wasn’t afraid. He had fought against a hundred men before; he had never been afraid of such numbers.
What Zhang Liunian didn’t know was that Jiang Qingqing, who had been waiting for him at the hotel, was very worried and had already sent Uncle Yi, who had returned, to look for him with reinforcements.
Of course, Zhang Liunian was unaware of this. At this moment, he was surrounded by the Zhu family’s gang.
“Truly a stubborn old bone. We’re telling you to come with us to see your wife and daughter, and you refuse? Don’t tell me you’re even afraid to see them?” Zhu the Second taunted him.
“Unless you can bring my wife and daughter to me, I won’t believe they are in your hands.” Zhang Liunian’s words posed a real dilemma for the Zhu brothers. If they truly had Jiang Qingqing, they wouldn’t need to go through all this trouble to capture him; they could just wait for him at home.
With hostages in hand, they wouldn’t need to worry about Zhang Liunian not showing up.
Unfortunately, Mister Fu had already taken the hostages away, so they could only capture him before the incident occurred.
“Useless coward, not even daring to save your own woman. You’re unfit to be a husband, unfit to be a father.” Zhu the Second, seeing his lack of cooperation, could only try to continue his taunts.
If that didn’t work, they would have to resort to force.
“You are Zhu’s First and Second Brothers, aren’t you!” Zhang Liunian didn’t answer, instead questioning their relationship.
Zhu the Second nodded, “We are your grandfathers. What? Scared?”
“Scared of what? I’ve already dealt with Zhu the Third and Zhu the Fourth. Am I afraid of you two?” Zhang Liunian raised an eyebrow, indicating he wasn’t scared at all.
But when Zhu the Second heard him dare to mention his third and fourth brothers, his face instantly filled with hatred. “You still dare to mention them? Today, I’ll let you know the consequences of offending us.”
“Who’s afraid of whom?” Although Zhang Liunian was surrounded, he wasn’t truly afraid.
Whether it was with guns or fists, Zhang Liunian had yet to meet an opponent.
“Indeed, a cheapskate. Brothers, attack! Let him see how formidable our Zhu family gang is.” Zhu the Second, seeing Zhang Liunian’s defiant demeanor, immediately raised his arm and shouted, stealing his elder brother’s line.
Fortunately, the Zhu family gang members knew this person was their eldest brother’s sibling and gave him some face. Seeing him order them to attack Zhang Liunian together, they immediately charged towards Zhang Liunian.
Seeing this, Zhang Liunian calmly drew his iron rod and met them head-on.
A brawl instantly erupted.
The clanging sounds echoed through the street. Passersby were either scared and turned to flee or hid in corners to watch.
Zhang Liunian had no mind to pay attention to his surroundings. He was in trouble, as he realized these thugs were like a trained force. They immediately employed a war of attrition, attacking him in waves, one after another, hitting and running.
This would wear down his spirit and strength. If it were a quick battle, he might have a chance of winning, but with their tactic of attrition, he had no possibility of victory.
Zhang Liunian fought with urgency, wanting them to attack all at once, but they wouldn’t fall for it. Regardless of whether they were injured, they would hit and run, leaving him with no options.
Thus, Zhang Liunian fought with them for nearly an hour, his stamina finally starting to falter, and his moves becoming significantly slower.
Seeing this, Zhu the Second was overjoyed. He looked at Zhu the First beside him and laughed, “Big Brother, look, he’s about to give out. He’ll be our captive soon.”
Zhu the First was also very pleased. “When that happens, we must squeeze out all their value, or it won’t make up for the loss of one of my key men.”
The key man he referred to was Zhang Liuxing.
Zhu the Second understood his elder brother’s meaning. He glanced at the fallen Zhang Liuxing on the ground and said dismissively, “What key man is he? Just a disobedient ant. We all told him not to kill Zhang Liunian, but he didn’t listen. If he hadn’t made a move, I wouldn’t have accidentally killed him either.”
Zhu the Second felt no regret for his inaccurate shot, only thinking that Zhang Liuxing’s death was his own fault. If he had listened and not attacked Zhang Liunian, Zhu the Second wouldn’t have acted.
“Zhang Liunian is a bit of a mouthy fellow.” Zhu the First also felt Zhang Liunian’s words were provocative, but his ability to fight one against a hundred and last this long proved he had the strength to back up his taunts.
Under normal circumstances, no matter how provocative his words were, he could handle them.
But who could have known he would run into Zhu the First? He might not have much else, but he had plenty of people. If these hundred-plus men couldn’t take down Zhang Liunian, he would call for even more.
He refused to believe Zhang Liunian was made of iron and wouldn’t be exhausted to death.
“Ah!” Just then, Zhang Liunian cried out in pain. The Zhu brothers looked closely and saw that Zhang Liunian was injured.
This was truly excellent. They would soon capture Zhang Liunian.
However, their joy did not last long. Uncle Yi suddenly appeared with a group of men and shouted, “Liunian, we’re here to save you!” He then led the bodyguards into the fray.
Uncle Yi brought over thirty men. Although less than half the opposing force, they were enough to disrupt their war of attrition.
Zhang Liunian, who had started to show signs of weakness, felt a surge of energy upon seeing Uncle Yi and his men arrive, and the iron rod in his hand swung more nimbly.
But this situation did not last long. They were once again on the defensive, as Zhu the Second used his gun to take down several of Zhang Liunian’s bodyguards. Uncle Yi also shielded Zhang Liunian from a gunshot, getting injured again.
“Uncle Yi!” Zhang Liunian was deeply moved seeing Uncle Yi bravely appear behind him. Although Uncle Yi hadn’t explained everything, he had never harbored ill intentions towards him.
“Don’t worry about me. Break through! If you fall into their hands, it won’t end well.” Gangsters in Hong Kong grew by feeding on blood and flesh. If Zhang Liunian fell into their hands, they would surely drain him dry.
