Chapter 10 How Could She Be So Brainless!

“Yinyin, are you busy right now?” The voice was as kind as ever.

Mu Yin-yin’s eyes were filled with a cold sneer.

She had lost her biological mother when she was very young. When He Xia married her father, Mu Yin-yin had initially resisted. However, He Xia played the role of a virtuous wife and good mother so well that, starved for maternal love since childhood, she fell prey to He Xia’s manipulation, believing He Xia to be a truly good “family member.”

After all that had happened, she only felt that He Xia’s acting skills were superb, so hypocritical that it was impossible to detect.

If her father hadn't fallen ill, she might still have been as submissive as before.

Regaining her composure, Mu Yin-yin asked coldly, “Is there something you need?”

Back then, her father had struggled alone, raising her. He Xia had seized the opportunity, bringing her own daughter into their home. Her management of household affairs was impeccable, and her father had been very pleased. But who could have known that this mother and daughter were wolves that devoured people without spitting out their bones?

He Xia paused, as if not sensing Mu Yin-yin’s coldness, and continued in her gentle tone, “Yinyin, you haven’t been home for a while, have you? Why don’t you come back for dinner tonight? We haven’t gathered in a long time. Even though your father is gone, I still consider you my own daughter. We are a unit, Yinyin. Will you blame your aunt?”

For all these years, Mu Yin-yin had not changed how she addressed He Xia, because she had never been her real mother.

“Blame?” Mu Yin-yin said with a half-smile. If it weren't for this mother and daughter, her father wouldn't have died suddenly. She would seek justice for this!

He Xia on the other end of the phone faltered.

This damned little slut had finally noticed something.

Her daughter had called her last time, saying that Mu Yin-yin was demanding shares back, which was already odd. Now, her tone of voice was also off.

She took a moment to compose herself, sighed with feigned sadness, and said, “Yinyin, I know you’re upset about your father’s passing, but I’ve also been with him for so many years. I’m hurting too… Yinyin, no matter what, in my eyes, you are my own daughter. Won’t you come home for dinner tonight? Your sister is also being discharged today and will be coming back.”

Mu Yin-yin dismissed her earlier hypocritical words as nonsense and instead asked about the information she cared about, “She’s being discharged today?”

“Yes, I’ll cook a big meal myself. Won’t you come back? I miss you.” He Xia’s voice remained gentle, making it hard to refuse.

A sarcastic glint flashed in Mu Yin-yin’s eyes. She didn’t want to see people like them, but she had to for a reason.

After a pause, she said directly, “Alright, I’ll come over tonight then.”

In truth, she could have continued to pretend, playing the innocent white lotus, telling Nan Shi-qing that she was willing to give up Fu Si-ye, and still feigning ignorance of the wrongdoings of them, mother and daughter. Perhaps dealing with matters would have been easier.

However.

Mu Yin-yin refused.

She couldn’t stand being insincere with them for even a moment.

Furthermore, she didn't need to do that; she could still make them return to square one. To dare to do such things to her father, she would make them repay it a thousand times over!

She wanted to make them live in torment, body and soul, every day. She wanted to make them live in fear every day that what they had managed for many years would be snatched away. She wanted them to lose everything and spend every day in misery! httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět

“That’s wonderful! Auntie will be waiting for you!” He Xia’s voice sounded incredibly excited, as if she were truly welcoming a married daughter back home.

Mu Yin-yin said nothing more and hung up the phone.

She had nothing more to say to He Xia.

If it weren’t for revenge, she might have stopped dealing with this person long ago.

Soon, Mu Yin-yin returned to her work. As it was nearing the end of the workday, her phone suddenly rang.

Mu Yin-yin opened WeChat.

– Jiang Ling: [Are you free to have dinner tonight?]

Mu Yin-yin typed on her keyboard.

– Mu Yin-yin: [No, He Xia asked me to go back for dinner.]

– Jiang Ling: [He Xia?]

Jiang Ling knew who He Xia was but was surprised that He Xia would still ask her to come over.

– Mu Yin-yin: [She might be up to something again. I do need to talk to them about some things when I go back. Next time, let’s have dinner together. By the way, are those two coming back soon?]

Those two naturally referred to the two people who had co-founded the company with them.

The four of them had been good friends, and with shared interests, they had started this company together.

Mu Yin-yin had become a hands-off boss, handing over all the work to them. Mu Yin-yin felt very guilty about this.

– Jiang Ling: [Mm, they’ll be back in about three days.]

Li Chuan and Gu Xiao Qi had gone to investigate projects together.

– Mu Yin-yin: [Then when they get back, we’ll have a welcome dinner for them.]

– Jiang Ling: [Okay, they’ll definitely be very happy.]

Mu Yin-yin hadn’t told Li Chuan and Gu Xiao Qi about her return yet.

She simply sent an emoji and said no more.

She didn’t mention her guilt, because she knew that saying it would only make them uncomfortable. They would feel that as friends, there was no need to say such things.

She would make up for these things in the future.

And whenever this happened, Mu Yin-yin always felt like banging her head. What was she thinking back then?

Why did she have to be so obsessed with love, giving up everything to be with Fu Si-ye? What right did he have? How could he be worthy!

And her! How could she be so brainless!

Mu Yin-yin closed her eyes slightly, as if suppressing her anger.

The end of the workday quickly arrived.

Mu Yin-yin packed up and drove away.

Her car was a limited edition Ferrari, which she had asked her assistant to buy after her divorce.

At the time, she had initially planned to buy just any car, but after hesitating, she decided to buy a car she liked.

Since she was divorced, she no longer had to care about anything. Shouldn’t she just live her own life well?

In the past, she didn’t want to appear extravagant, treating men’s money as nothing, so she was always frugal.

But now, she was no longer like that. She hadn’t touched a single cent of Fu Si-ye’s money; everything was earned by her own hands and feet. Why should she care what others thought?

An hour later.

Mu Yin-yin arrived at the old Mu family mansion.

She sat in the car, not rushing to go inside, but instead looking intently at the place before her.

Although this was the old Mu family mansion, the owner inside did not have the surname Mu.

Returning here, memories flooded her mind. She remembered running around the yard when she was little. Her father patiently played with her, throwing a ball for her.
