Chapter 87: Ch 87
(Max’s POV)
Max don’t know what to do, currently he was sitting in his not so average car or better said, his ’Luxurious’ car which boasted a myriad of indulgent features, including a state-of-the-art television and a fully stocked refrigerator, setting the standard for opulence and luxury.
The spacious vehicle was not occupied solely by Max, as his five masked subordinates were also present, positioned strategically throughout the car’s interior but a bit far from him.
Indeed, Max’s subordinates were situated a considerable distance from him - and for good reason!
They were currently lounging in a stunning stretch limousine, a veritable symbol of wealth and luxury that left passersby in utter amazement.
It is a massive vehicle with a regal color scheme of white and gold that exuded an air of elegance and power.
The combination of these colors was a common choice of royalty and the elite especially the light royal family who have white as thier go to colour, and it was clear that no expense had been spared in the design and construction of the impressive car.
They were not the only persons in the vehicle however, there was one more person currently in there and he also wasn’t wearing a mask just like max and was also sitting right next to max.
As for who it is, Its none other than his friend in need, tom!!
But unfortunately, his condition night now is nowhere near perfect, not even normal infact.
Max’s heart sank as he turned his attention to Tom. Despite their short but true friendship and Max couldn’t help but feel frustrated at the sight of his friend’s condition.
It was clear that something had gone terribly wrong - Tom looked like a shell of his former self, barely alive and muttering the same phrase over and over again.
Max had never seen Tom like this before, and it was clear that whatever had happened to him had taken a severe toll on his physical and mental health.
Max let out a heavy sigh as he contemplated the anguish and torment that Tom must have endured to end up in such a state.
It was clear that something terrible had happened to him and maz was able to guess what it is with the proff provided, and Max couldn’t help but feel a sense of guilt and responsibility for not being able to prevent it.
Despite the frustration and annoyance that he felt, Max couldn’t help but empathize with his friend’s plight and silently vowed to do whatever it took to help Tom recover, no matter the cost.
As Max thought back on the events leading up to Tom’s current state, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt for not arriving in time to prevent it.
He replayed the events in his mind, trying to piece together what had happened and where he had gone wrong.
It was clear that he had been a little too slow to reach the third floor, and that delay had ultimately cost Tom dearly.
Max closed his eyes, trying to block out the sounds of Tom’s incessant muttering as he focused his thoughts on the events that had transpired after he had found Tom in the dungeon.
The scene before him filled him with a sense of shock and horror, as he beheld his friend lying there in a state of almost complete helplessness. The sight of the strange white liquid oozing from his every hole and covering his face made his stomach churn with a sense of revulsion.
Max was able to identify what that was and it cause him to panic even more about his friend safety, mostly mental safety.
As a dedicated follower of the light and a practitioner of the healing arts, Max was well-versed in the use of light Qi and various techniques to alleviate physical pain and discomfort.
With practiced hands and a calm, steady focus, he applied his knowledge and training to help ease Tom’s suffering as best he could.
Despite the severity of his friend’s condition, Max remained resolute in his determination to save him, drawing upon every resource at his disposal as he used his healing pills like water to ensure that his friend would pull through and was able to do so too.
Even though Max’s best efforts to help Tom recover, his friend’s mental state prevented him from being able to confirm whether or not the treatment had been effective.
Tom’s delirious state made it difficult for him to communicate or provide any kind of feedback, leaving Max uncertain about the true extent of his friend’s recovery.
His healing technique can only help a person to tackle physical problems, mental health healing is far more complicated and there is no technique for it, atleast max haven’t seen any in his life.
Even though he was shocked to see his friend, whom he consider a normal trapped within the depths of a dungeon and suffering from something as dark as this.
He was even more shocked to discover that Tom had managed to reach the third floor of the dungeon before he did, despite being a seemingly ordinary person.
However, despite these questions and concerns, Max knew that his priority was to help Tom in any way he could.
He put aside his own feelings of shock and confusion, and focused his attention solely on providing his friend with the care and assistance he needed to recover shile putting all of it on the back of his mind and focus on helping tom.
With Tom’s condition stabilized as best as he could manage, Max knew that they had to keep moving forward to continue their progress in the dungeon
Though he kept a watchful eye on Tom’s condition and made sure his friend received the care he needed, Max never let his concern for Tom distract him from the task at hand, even if his friend health is important, conquering this dungeon is also equally important.
However, as they continued walking of some hours, the whole dungeon started shaking up. Max and his team were taken aback as the dungeon started to shake violently.
In just a span of few seconds, The intensity of the shaking increased so much that the walls and floors around them began to crack and crumble under the strain, and they could hear the sounds of rock and stone collapsing all around them.
"Wha-what’s happening?!" shouted one of Max’s masked lackeys, his voice high and it was clear he is male but even that barely audible over the deafening noise of the shaking.
As the dungeon shook violently, Max and his lackeys were not the only ones affected. Everyone else around them, was also included as they could hear terrified human shouts from far away.
Well, but with the exception of one individual who seemed to have given up on life, and was peacefully muttering a same ’I wanna die’ even in an environment screaming death itself.
Max was shocked and confused by what he was witnessing. He had come to the dungeon fully prepared and armed with knowledge, yet he couldn’t comprehend the current situation. "Impossible," was the thought which passed through his mind as gazed at his surroundings.
He eyes widened in bewildement as he realized that someone had already taken the core, even though it had only been 20 days since the dungeon had opened.
Max was bewildered by this realization, and as the force of suction began to act upon him and even against his trying to stop it, he was still teleported out of the dungeon.
The next thing he saw was the crowd of dozens and young masters argued and fought amongst themselves over the missing core.
As a young master himself, he felt the pull to join in the competition for the powerful artifact. However, he knew he had more pressing matters to attend to, namely the health and safety of his friend Tom.
Although the temptation to stay and participate in the commotion was strong, Max still made the decision to prioritize his friend’s well-being and leave the area.
So, he with his subordinates and Tom left the jungle with none of the crowd daring to stop him knowing his status fully well.
As they journeyed on for about half an hour, Max couldn’t help but wonder who could have possibly taken the core so quickly.
It was a mystery that he couldn’t shake from his mind, but for now, he had to focus on getting Tom the medical attention he needed.
When they reach near the highway near the city, instantly his lackeys arranged a ride for them as he sit inside while continue hearing Tom’s muttering.
As Max opened his eyes and gazed out of the window, his mind was heavy with guilt and regret, replaying the events that led to Tom’s injuries over and over again. But he knew that dwelling on the past would not help his friend in the present.
