Chapter 1521: Chapter 1521: There’s Something Wrong with This Man
“Yesterday, I passed by the corridor, and you were clinging to me without letting go,” Xiao Mo said blandly, stirring the coffee in front of him.
“I was clinging to you?” Xia Chuqing couldn’t recall it at all. She clearly had fallen asleep sitting on the floor! Before she fell asleep, she hadn’t even seen Xiao Mo!
“Yep, and you said you missed me, that you couldn’t stop thinking about me.”
Her eyes widened in horror. She said that?! This early in the morning, it was scarier than hearing a ghost story!
How could she say something so humiliating? Impossible!
But looking at Xiao Mo, sitting calmly and composed in his chair, he didn’t seem like he was lying or joking.
“A-and then?” Xia Chuqing glared at him.
“Then I had no choice but to bring you back to rest and change your clothes for you.”
“…” Xia Chuqing was dumbfounded as she looked at the neatly folded clothes by the bedside. “You were the one who changed my clothes?”
“Yep.” Xiao Mo replied nonchalantly.
“Jerk! Shameless!” Xia Chuqing grabbed a cushion from the couch in fury and hurled it at him!
Xiao Mo snatched the cushion out of thin air and gave her a sidelong glance. “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.”
“Who asked you to change my clothes? Why the hell did you overstep your bounds? Ever heard of the concept of personal boundaries? There are so many female staff in the hotel, couldn’t you call one of them? You’re nothing but a pervert!”
She still didn’t know what he might’ve done to her last night. Although—although it looked like nothing had happened, behind closed doors… she couldn’t be sure!
Alcohol was truly a terrible thing. Why did she have to drink so much?!
Now, she’d be Xiao Mo’s laughingstock for a whole year again.
“The breakfast is going to get cold. If you don’t go wash up now, don’t blame me for eating it all,” Xiao Mo said calmly, his face devoid of any emotion, as if none of it had anything to do with him.
To be fair, none of it did have anything to do with him.
Last night, he had only intended to help her change out of her alcohol-soaked dress. But the moment he unzipped it and saw the nude-colored undergarments she was wearing underneath, things almost spiraled out of control.
One could argue that not giving in to temptation in such a situation was less than human, but he still called the hotel staff instead.
Then he went straight to the bathroom to take a cold shower while the staff helped her into a set of pajamas.
Afterward, he spent the night sleeping on the other bed in the suite.
By the time he woke up, she was still sleeping soundly.
“Xiao Mo, do other women know how shameless and hypocritical you are?” Xia Chuqing felt utterly humiliated.
So last night, he had carried her to bed, undressed her, and helped her into pajamas?
“As long as you know,” Xiao Mo said, taking a sip of coffee, his tone uninterested, as if he had no desire to explain anything.
“…”
Xia Chuqing stormed toward him and reached for the cup of coffee on the table, ready to throw it at him.
Unfortunately for her, Xiao Mo’s reflexes were far superior. His movements were faster and sharper—he grabbed her hand and with a single motion, flung her back onto the couch.
Xiao Mo looked down at her coolly, a hint of menace in his gaze. Then his eyes flicked to her pajamas. “I don’t mind changing them for you again!”
“Xiao Mo, do you believe I’ll report you to Mr. Shen and have you fired?”
“Go ahead.”
“You—!”
“Xia Chuqing, I’m not interested in you. If I were, do you think you’d even be able to get out of bed today?”
“…”
The suggestive nature of his words made Xia Chuqing’s heart race uncontrollably.
“A pervert is a pervert. Or could it be that you’re… incapable?” A sudden impulse overcame her.
She didn’t think her figure was that bad. For a normal man to have changed her clothes without any reaction… That could only mean one thing: something was wrong with him.
That was her logical deduction. Still, she was secretly relieved there was a “problem.” Otherwise, who knows what might’ve happened last night.
Xiao Mo’s expression immediately darkened. He hadn’t touched her, and now she had the nerve to imply he couldn’t?
“Xia Chuqing, you think I can’t? How about I show you just how capable I am?” Xiao Mo placed one large hand on her shoulder while the other reached for his belt.
Terrified, Xia Chuqing froze in place, pleading desperately, “No, no, Master Xiao, please let me off the hook. I won’t dare to say another word. You’re capable, very capable. It’s my fault—my body’s no good, I’m not attractive enough, and you’re just not interested in me. I’ll go, I’ll leave, okay? I promise I won’t say anything anymore.”
Xia Chuqing was genuinely scared. She didn’t want things to get messy with Xiao Mo.
She must have been seriously drunk last night to have clung to him like that…
Seeing her pitiful expression, Xiao Mo released her, though his face was terrifyingly grim.
Xia Chuqing scrambled away, grabbing her clothes and heading straight to the bathroom.
When she came out, she packed her things and found her phone on the couch.
It just so happened that her phone rang—it was Song Heng calling.
She hesitated but eventually picked up, “Hello?”
“Chuqing, are you awake yet? I just got back from the bar.”
“Another night at the bar? Take it easy and don’t overdo it. I’m awake now. I’ll call you again when I’m heading to the airport.”
“Can you bring me some date cake from C City? Suddenly craving it.”
“Didn’t you say that stuff was only for little girls? Said it was too sweet. What brings this on now?”
“Being sentimental, I guess. Missing college days.”
Xia Chuqing didn’t call him out on it. He was probably missing Song Yingying. Song Yingying loved those cakes.
After the call, Xia Chuqing almost forgot Xiao Mo was still there.
When she put down her phone and glanced up, she was met with Xiao Mo’s stormy expression.
She thought it best not to provoke him further.
Grabbing her things, she was about to head out the door when his cold voice stopped her: “No breakfast, no goodbye—are you throwing a tantrum with me?”
“I’m not.” Xia Chuqing lowered her head like a scolded kitten, her attitude softening. “I just wanted to head to the airport. Missing the flight wouldn’t be great.”
“Eat first. I’ll drop you off.”
“No need. I’ll just take a taxi.”
“How far have you and Song Heng gotten?” Xiao Mo knocked on the table, his tone detached.
“We’re dating.”
“Your parents and the school sent you abroad to gain some knowledge and prepare you for a decent job someday—not to rely on others. Tone down the romance.”
“Xiao Mo, what’s your problem? What does any of this have to do with you? Don’t act like you have the right to lecture me. Who do you think you are—my brother?”
“What kind of relationship do you want to have with me then?” His sharp eyes bore into her, radiating an icy chill.
“Enough with the drama, will you? I don’t see you as my brother, and you shouldn’t flatter yourself. To me, you’re just a friend of a friend at best.”
“I never thought of myself as your brother.”
“Then why are you butting into my business? I don’t need your care. If Sister Chaomu asked you to look out for me, I’ll go talk to her myself.”
“Sit down!”
“I won’t.”
“You’ve spent a year abroad, and the only thing you’ve gained is a worse temper!”
